LOGINBETA GARREN'S POVImmediately all the hesitant face morph into tense looks, confirming the fact.My daughter did her work well.Glancing at these people hear, and the fear on their faces, I can tell they're expecting me to lash out since in a way it concerns Triplets Alphas.However--------“Listen, I am not here to tell you admonish or blame any of you. The rumours are true,” I say firmly.“And I called for this meeting because the pack is in grave danger.”A grave silence falls upon the gathered men, then-------“How is the Pack in danger?” Most of them ask.Nodding, I raised my hand out, stretching it towards Dal who steps forward and places a folded stained sheet on my open palm with both of his palms. Then I hold it up so they can all see the age worn into its corners, my voice loud as I declare.“This is an old chronicle I found from the Archives of the Elders: it
BETA GARREN'S POVWatching the men all fall silent, I watch them without speaking, and this time, none of them are in a haste to speak. They're all making up their minds on whether or not they should stay on in this meeting, especially since I've let them know that the Lord Alpha doesn't know about this and we're about to act without his knowledge should they stay. After all, treason to the Pack means death, and it won't be the Lord Alpha or Lady Luna that would carry it out, or pass the decree. It would be the Triplet Alphas.Yes, everyone knows how ruthless and savage they are; they wouldn't spare anyone that dared to plot against the pack.So every male wolf here now is quietly thinking if this meeting is worth the risk.Of course they're also pondering if it would be wise to reject a meeting hosted by me since I am of higher rank than any of them.Yes, that is also why I made sure I personally
BETA GARREN'S POVWhen the benches are full, and the old hall is completely filled with everyone I need, I have Dal close the door shut, sealing every space clogs with wax and cloths. Finally with that settled, I lift my hand, causing the entire room to fall into a hush. What I'm about to say now is risky for my status, but it is exactly because of my status and carefully built reputation that I can call for this meeting. It is exactly because of the good deeds they have seen me do for this pack that they have come. They respect me; thwarting their minds shouldn't be so difficult.“Fellow pack members, my good friends and neighbors,” I begin. "I called you here because I am worried and deeply disturbed.”The men begin to murmur at that, some stroking their jaw as the lean forward to hear more. But instead of continuing, I pause, watching the curiosity burn in their gazes."Beta Garre
BETA GARREN'S POV I choose the old mustering hall to having this 'talk' because I've noticed the walls here are far enough from any uninvited or eavesdropping werewolf to listen in. ... Even with werewolf senses. This place sits behind the kennels and the grain sheds of the Pack, half- swallowed by ivy and the other half by pure wood. There are no banners here and no carved wolves to glare from the beams, there are only several rough benches, a low dais, iron sconces sweating pitch, and the faint, familiar musk of oath- sweat and spilled beer. Perfect. THIS is just what I need; an excellent and comfortable location. I arrive before the second bell of the Pack rings and personally push the doors wide open, watching lamps that had already been light and set up burn low. As I stare at them, lost in my thoughts while I strategize, my ste
ELAYNE'S POV While Daddy leaves for his chambers, I stop briefly at mine then order a couple of serving Betas to let my dear 'friends' Urgh. ... Know that I'll be coming to see them for tea and berries. Of course they sent back word and agreed immediately; tea and berries are 'sneaky' words they use for saying there's juicy gossip. That's one reason why it'll be so easy to manipulate them, why I've been doing that so easily with my 'goody loving girl' image for all these years. They just lovvveeeeee the taste of scandalous stories; indulge them and you'll be in their good books. A chuckle escapes my lips at that moment; seems like all the pretexts and mixing up with other werewolves even though I hated it are finally paying off. ... But why did it have to take so long for those useless serving Betas to come back to give me their response?
ELAYNE'S POV "But Daddy," I whine. "What if I say she’s cursed, won’t that make the superstitious ones cling to favour her?" I roll my eyes as I add, "They might say rant about her pitiful she is. The last thing we need is that Daddy." I'll throw up if that happens. “Indeed pup, but you won’t just say she is cursed,” He corrects. “You will say that Royal Omega means ‘curse-born.’ As in, the kind of Omega whose bond breaks a pack. Spin a tall- tale about you coming across a prophecy in one of the old chronicles.” Immediately I hear that, I snicker. Daddy's right. Many of those high ranked werewolves, even the rich ones have never read a chronicle in their lives. ... And if there's anything I'm so good at, it's lying and playing pretend to the finest. A large smile tugs at my lips then, "Thos
IRYN'S POV “I want to read,” I tell him, which is not a lie, but again, not the whole truth.I tip my head up a bit, slightly nudging his nose in the process, "Do you want to read?"My question seems to have stunned him, because he just blinks at me for several seconds without saying."Orien?" H
IRYN'S POV I skim through the page, my eyes scanning the line as I read what is labelled as lists of leaves and roots. They're not poison exactly, but they're all antidotes for poison, and as I read on, I realise that each one is fit for only certain poisons.... Otherwise, they 'antidote' might e
NYALL'S POVFenric was right, Orien is being selfish.I rub my thumb across my knuckles, trying to ease the pain Orien had punched in there.I heal fast so there shouldn't be any visible bruise by now, but it still hurts. What the hell is wrong with him?If he doesn't care about what I and Fenric f
FENRIC'S POV “I can't believe I’m being the responsible one now.” Muttering, I look down at the blade in my hands. The fight between my brothers is still on my mind, and I can still smell it in my shirt even after I stripped and washed.I couldn't really stand being near them again and play the c
