"He asked you a question, Malia." Anita said.

My legs weakened and my hands became sweaty. I looked between Eli and Anita. They are both expecting an answer from me.

Oh no.

I can't tell them. It will worsen things. I won't be able to go back to the quarters ever again.

I can't even go there this night. I am planning on sleeping here in the kids' room.

"I ...I fell." I lied.

Eli raised his brow.

"You fell?" Anita asked.

I nodded as Eli let go of my chin.

I looked down.

"What type of fall would cause this kind of mark on your cheek?" Anita asked.

I fiddled with my fingers nervously, feeling my loud pounding heart.

"She is lying." Eli said, making me look at him.

I shook my head. "N-no, I am not lying. I-i swear." I stuttered.

He scoffed in disbelief.

I dropped my gaze.

"Use an ice on it." He said, walking away.

I heaved a sigh, my gaze still down.

"This is ridiculous. I don't believe you fell, Malia." Anita said "what actually happened?"
