Arthur's Apartment....

Later that night ......

"Arghh!"

"Instant noodles tonight again!" Arthur murmured as he slammed the freezer door shut and walked towards the dinning table.

He pulled his MacBook closer and opened it,

"This girl has still not sent this file," he murmured with a small frustrated sigh.

He angrily stood up and walked upstairs to get his phone.

"They won't do what they're supposed to do and when I react I'm the bad person!" He muttered as he picked up his phone and headed towards the dinning again.

He dialled Eleanor's number as he took his seat back and waiting impatiently for her to pick up the call.

"Why have I still not gotten the files I asked for?!" He asked immediately she picked up the call.

"Oh I'm sorry, I'll do that now " She said immediately.

"So you forgot is that it?! Did I pay you to forget about your job?!"

"I'm sorry, I'm still at the hospital remember, I just had my Mom bring my Macbook over," She said and he hissed as he rolled his eyes.

"All I hear is lame excuses upon lame excuses,"

"Do your job well and stop making excuses!"

"You put me in here Arthur so stop pretending like I'm here because I want to!" She said.

"Oh wow! Nice card!"

"Maybe if you had closed your legs and stayed away, you wouldn't be there!" He retorted, she exhaled deeply and rolled her eyes.

"Arthur, I'll send the files to you immediately!" She replied.

"If that will be all?!"

"Can I hang up now, so I can send the files?!" She asked again, Arthur released a loud hiss before ending the call from his own end first.

Shortly after his phone dinged and it was a message from Eleanor, he connected it to his MacBook and opened the file.

"How can someone do her job so perfectly," he murmured immediately he was done looking at the files.

"There must be something this girl is hiding!"

"She definitely has to be imperfect at something!"

"And I'm going to find that out and exploit it!" He muttered

"No! She can't be this good!"

Meanwhile ....

Wilson Mansion ....

"Isabella," Marshall whispered as he gently knocked on the door of her room.

"Go away dad, I don't want to talk to you," she replied from inside.

"Sweetheart please, open the door we need to talk" he said.

"That's the thing dad, I don't want to talk to you!" She replied.

"Isabella, can you please make this a little easy for me, I'm just trying to make things better,"

"You didn't make things easy for me when you asked me to apologize to Olivia earlier," she said as she finally opened the door.

"Doing the right thing is not always easy, dear" Marshall replied.

"Still, you should have supported me dad!"

"Look at how Olivia's dad supported her," she whined.

"Can I come in," Marshall asked in a whisper.

She begrudgingly stepped away from the door and walked back to her bed.

Marshall walked in and gently slammed the door.

"Isabella, you can't compare my parenting with Fred's parenting, that's not a very nice thing to do!"

"To be honest, I prefer it when principal Leslie calls Mom instead of you to stuff like this, even if I'm wrong she'd still support me!"

"She'd never ask me to apologize and she won't let me get punished !"

"Your Mom and I are two very different people,"

"Exactly, sometimes I need you to be more like Mom!"

"You should know by now Isabella, I'll always do what's right and I'll teach you to do what's right also,"

"Did you or did you not hit her first ?!"

"She provoked me," Isabella mumbled.

"You're still not answering the question, all I need to hear is I did or I did not!"

"I did!" She muttered.

"You see, that's where you went wrong"

"You shouldn't have"

"People are responsible for the foolish way they talk and behave and you are responsible for the way you react,"

"You can't blame your reaction on someone else's action because you have a choice to react differently and you didn't "

"And I've told you and your brother countlessly not to fight mine or your mom's war!"

"I understand that mentioning your parents could have triggered you, and I sincerely do appreciate that you stood up for me,"

"It'd teach her to bridle her tongue the next time, but that doesn't erase the fact that you were wrong to have hit her,"

"You fought for a right course in a wrong way, that's what you did bad!"

"And that's what I asked you to apologize for, not for any other thing"

"I'd talk to Fred tommorow once I get to the office, he should show his daughter her place!"

"And I promise you, any other tantrums she throws I'll take it up myself"

"Remember what I always tell you, keep your anger holy,"

"Don't ruin it by acting on impulse, if you hadn't hit her they would have had absolutely nothing against you yesterday,"

"I'm not asking you to be weak as your Mom always says, I'm not saying you shouldn't stand up for yourself,"

"I'm just saying, do it the right way! Think first before you act when you're angry!" He said and she nodded slowly.

"Do you understand that Isabella," he whispered and she nodded.

"You know I love you right, and I'd always do everything to make sure you're happy," he said and she smiled.

"I know Dad and I love you too," she whispered and he pulled her into an hug.

"So what punishment did Principal Leslie give?!" He asked still patting her hair.

"Detention for the rest of the week,"

"That's quite small for an Alpha Female like you," he teased and she smiled.

"Just take it as a little punishment for acting on impulse," he whispered and she laughed.

"Thank you Dad,"

"I can't guarantee it won't happen again though, Olivia just always find a way to get under my skin," she murmured as the disengaged from the hug and turned to look at each other, Marshall laughed and she pouted a little.

"It's funny how the both of you got here, but trust me you'll be fine,"

"Nothing a little bit of self control on your end won't solve," he said.

"Let's not even go into the history of how Olivia and I got here," she murmured rolling her eyes playfully.

"I just hope when I'm in that situation, I'm able to act out all of your advise,"

"Easier said than done they say," she added and he shook his head with a smile.

"Fierce like your mother, I like it" he whispered.

"So how is your art work coming along,"

"The one for the exhibition, what did you call it again,"

"Slum art, I formed it from your slum outreach, how can you forget that Dad!" She whined.

"Okay now that you explain it, I won't forget again," he said and they both laughed.

"If I get a high bidding on the art work after the exhibition, it'll go a long way in helping the outreach program "

"If there's anything I want you to pass down to me then it's your slum outreach program," she said and he smiled.

"I admire your passion for the struggling masses, if only your brother can be a little more like you," he said with a small smile as he tucked a strand of her hair beside her ear.

"Well Arthur and I are two very different people," she replied

"Okay, that's fair, that's fair" Marshall replied with a small smile.

"Atleast one person in my family is willing to support,"

"Two people actually, Mom supports too right?!"

"Yeah right, she does!"

"Okay, I think I should leave you now,"

"So you can get to whatever you were doing before I stepped in,"

"Yes dad, thank you for talking to me,"

"You know perfectly well how to piss me off, and you know exactly the right words to say to calm me down," she added and marshall bursted out laughing.

"What?!" He said still laughing.

"Well it's true," she replied with a small smile.

"Okay dear, I really should go now, enjoy" he said and finally stepped out of her room.

  • CONNECTION UNSEEN: A Love Story   Forever

Author’s POVOne year Later. Isabella stepped out of her room, her heart heavy with thoughts of her mother, today makes it one year since she was sentenced to life imprisonment. After everything that happened they had moved to a small apartment and led a much more quiet life. Thankfully she was already done with high school. Her, her boyfriend and bestfriend gained admission into the same school and will be leaving in a few days. She looked forward to it enthusiastically. She paused briefly in the hallway when she saw her father, Marshall, sitting on the couch with Matilda beside him. They looked so comfortable together, Matilda’s hand resting lightly on his arm, and the sight made Isabella’s stomach churn. The fact that Matilda lived in her own mansion did not stop their house from being her second home and she was there almost everytime. She knew she should be used to it by now—her father had moved on. But every time she saw Matilda in their home, it felt like a slap to her face.

Arthur. Meanwhile. The second we left the restaurant, my world felt like it had cracked open. My chest tightened with every breath, and the weight of the man’s words echoed endlessly in my mind. "My son."It didn’t make sense. None of it did. How could the man standing before me be my father? How could my mother have kept this from me? Lied to me every day of my life. From the look of things my dad was equally as shocked, she played the both of us.Eleanor squeezed my hand gently as we walked aimlessly, far away from the restaurant. I could tell she wanted to say something comforting, but what could anyone say to fix this mess? I didn’t want to hear the truth. Not from anybody."Arthur... do you want to talk about it?" Eleanor's voice was soft, like she was afraid I'd shatter if she pressed too hard. I shook my head. "Not now." We found a park bench and sat down. The late afternoon heat didn’t help; my shirt clung to me, soaked with sweat from everything that had just happened

Few hours Later.Eleanor.“We’re not going to the cafeteria?!” I asked as we walked into the elevator and he pressed on the ground floor, he slowly turned to me and shook his head slowly.“Ofcourse not,”“I’m treating my baby, to the best cheese in town,” he said to me, my face lit up in excitement immediately.“Ouuuuu, as tasty as Paris Comte?!” I asked snuggling closer to him, he turned to look at me and chuckled lightly. “I can’t give you my word on that though,” he said and we shared a laugh, ofcourse American cheese can beat Paris cheese, no matter who makes it. “Also my Dad wanted to meet with us, he said he has something to say,” he added and I nodded slowly with a small oh.“Yeah speaking about your dad, have you seen the accusations going around?! About the company and your mom?!” I said bringing out my phone to show it to him.“No I haven’t, and I really don’t care. I’m used to the rumors. They are not true anyway.” He said, I paused and slowly slipped the phone back in my

Eleanor. Next day. 6:30amMy eyes slowly fluttered open, it took me a while to adjust but immediately I did my gaze fell upon a pair of brown eyes staring down at me. My lips stretched into a shy smile and I slowly raised my hands to cover my face.“How long have you been staring?!” I asked in a mutter as I gently pushed myself up to sit on the bed, “Long enough to know you look extremely cute in your sleep,” he murmured in reply scooting closer to me, I felt literal butterflies in my stomach at his words, he gently raised his hands to my face and tucked my scattered hair carefully behind my ear,“Good Morning Sunshine,” he whispered and placed a small kiss on my forehead.“Good Morning Love,” I murmured in reply with a sweet smile.“Today would definitely be a beautiful day for me, I got to see your face immediately I woke up,” he said, I chuckled lightly as I gently pulled the duvet away from my body and got up.“Stop teasing me Arthur, we have work today let’s get ready,” I mutt

Meanwhile , 6:30pm Eleanor. “Alright then, I’ll take my leave now,” Lydia said to me, I flashed her a small smile and nodded slowly. “And please do the needful,” she whispered, I took my lips into my mouth and nodded slowly.“I’ll try,” I muttered in reply, she passed me one last tight lipped smile before walking out of my office. I exhaled deeply and reclined in my chair. It’s been the three days and Arthur hadn’t spoken to me in these three days, we walked past each other this morning at the entrance and he barely acknowledged my greeting, he seemed to be giving me space, a whole lot of space. He had been doing everything to avoid working together with me and it felt really obvious. I exhaled deeply again, I’ve been doing that a lot recently, I tidied up my work, picked up my bag and headed out. I walked past Arthur’s office, on a second thought I paused and walked back, I placed a small knock on the door before pushing it open and walking in. Immediately he heard my footstep

Three days later … Matilda.“I’ve spoken to Louis,” Camilla began, breaking the silence. We were currently sitting with Carson in his office, it’s been three days after our first discussion and now, based on more developments we have come to restrategize. “He did a thorough job. We have Fred’s financial records, including the transfers to that shell company tied to the mafia. It’s all there.” She continued.Carson stopped pacing and turned to face us, a glint of both relief and worry in his eyes. “That’s good, right? So we can take this to the authorities now? And end this once and for all?!” I shook my head slowly, my fingers tightening around the stack of papers on my lap. “Not yet. We have the proof, yes, but we need to secure a few more pieces before we make any moves. If we present this now without covering our tracks, I have a feeling it wouldn’t give us what we want.”Camilla leaned forward, her gaze serious. “We need to lock everything down. If we go public too soon, Fred
