LOGINSAGE'S POVMy eyes stung and I squeezed them shut, forcing them open again as I tried to recall where the hell I was. "It was just a nightmare, you're fine," Dante whispered against my skin, his voice warm.I nodded with a stiff face, trying to calm myself, but I could still feel the nightmare clinging to me. The lady's odd voice, her words, and how cold the woods were. I could still feel it and a shiver ran down my spine. My head lay on Dante's shoulder and I listened to his steady heartbeat, trying to convince myself it was all just a dream even though it felt very real.If my meditation did anything, it was to make me feel worse. My head felt like it was suddenly too heavy for my body and I couldn't ignore the suffocating emotions.I pressed my palms to my eyes, willing the tears to stop, but they kept coming. "Shhh. It's okay, it's just a dream," he muttered, his arms wrapping around my body more than I thought was possible.A sob escaped my lips and I pressed my head further into
SAGE'S POVMy eyes were wide when Dante's lips crashed into mine. Oh no!No! No, this can't be happening. Push him off. The words filled my head all telling me one thing but I stayed still. For one stunned second, it felt like my brain short-circuited. One moment we were standing in the hallway of this overly large mansion and the next his mouth was on mine. The basket slipped out of my grasp and my hands remained frozen at my sides for a heartbeat. Before something in me sparked and they moved on their own, fisting the front of his shirt. His lips were firm, tasting faintly of the wine we had shared earlier. I tried my best to pull away only to let out a moan, kissing him back and it felt like something in me had snapped.Heat flooded my body so fast my knees almost buckled. His hand slid to the small of my back, pulling me closer so much it was like he wanted to merge me with him.I felt his other hand get buried in my hair, and I let out a groan in his mouth. Dante seemed to like t
DANTE'S POVIn all the ways I imagined Sage meeting my dad, this was never one of them."Oh please, let's not act like you ever even imagined a way," my wolf growled, his voice dripping with an emotion I wasn't sure I liked.Whether or not his words were true wasn't my business. My main issue was how to survive this meeting without giving my father any odd clues.I had imagined a controlled introduction, something formal and distant, something I could manage. But she just had to walk straight into his room. She threw a glance at me, then at him, and I watched her put on a nervous smile."It's lovely to meet you, sir," she said in that overly elegant voice. The same one she used when my mother was present for dinner. "I'm sorry I'm a bit underdressed. I wasn't expecting to meet you so soon.""Oh please, I'm not a deity or something of that sort," my father joked, waving his hand as if trying to push away the idea. "There's no time like the present. Come close, let me take a look at you
SAGE'S POVThe car had barely stopped before I pushed the door open and practically ran out. The ride had been pure torture.Dante's scent filled every corner of the car, heavy but somehow warm. I could feel it slowly wrap around me until it felt like I couldn't breathe. Yet some twisted part of me still wanted more of it.I hated how aware I was of him — the way his fingers rested on the steering wheel, the steady rhythm of his breathing, the way his presence made the air feel thicker. My skin always felt hot around him, not to mention the weird rhythm my heart took anytime I was around. It was embarrassing and I needed distance away from whatever spell he might have placed on me.My eyes spotted Maria as I ran past the entrance. She was in her purple scrubs and her hair in a neat bun. "Hi Maria!!" I yelled out, waving frantically as I made it for the elevator. She waved back with a warm smile. The elevator door made to close but the Goddess seemed to have other plans as Dante pushed
SAGE'S POVI sat on the edge of Crystal's bed, watching her get ready. She was humming softly to herself as she applied a pretty pink lip tint, spreading it carefully across her lips with her finger.Even though she kept insisting this wasn't a date, just "going out with Cade to have fun," I could see the extra effort she was putting in.The purple dress she chose matched her hair perfectly, it was practically the same shade and somehow, it went well with her brown roots.Making it look like it was intentional, rather than a growth.Cleaning the sides of her lips and blowing a kiss to the mirror she turned around giving me a big smile. "Sooo...how do I look?"Her hands trailed through the tweed fabric and my lips stretched into a fond smile."You look really pretty. That dress is perfect on you."Her face took on a pale pink colour, and she revealed the bun I had helped with.I had my doubts at first but from the looks of it, I needed an award or something. It tied the whole look toge
SAGE'S POV My eyes snapped open like I had been pulled out of something I didn’t agree to. My chest was already tight before my mind even caught up. For a few seconds, I just lay there staring at the ceiling, as if it could explain why the hell I felt so lust-filled. I sat up slowly, pressing my fingers into my face as if I could physically push the feeling out of my head. But it stayed there anyway, making me feel like I had done something wrong without knowing what it was. That alone instantly lowered my mood. I hated anything that made me feel out of control, especially when it involved my own mind betraying me like that. I swung my legs off the bed and stood too quickly, ignoring the throbbing feeling between my thighs. I walked straight into the bathroom without thinking too much, because thinking was the problem right now. Thinking was what made everything worse. So I turned the water on and stepped under it immediately. The water hit my skin, and I let out a strained gas
