Aiden’s POV

It was already evening by the time the three of us stumbled back into Gabby’s apartment and collapsed onto the couch in a tangled heap of exhaustion and leftover adrenaline.

For a few seconds nobody spoke. Then the absurdity of the entire day hit all at once and we burst out laughing hard enough that Gabby had to wipe her eyes.

The hunt for ‘Courtney’ had been equal parts satisfying and ridiculous.

We had worn plain black face masks the entire time…partly to avoid any chance of the

  • CRAWLING TO YOU   Compromise

Julian’s POVWe had barely stopped when Daisy came running toward us, a luggage handle clenched in one hand. The feeling crashed back in full force…hot, stupid, and larger than the building we were standing in.“You’re still here?” Aiden asked, irritated. “Didn’t I ask you to leave, Daisy?”I already knew he didn’t like her. He made it obvious in the way he looked at her, the way he spoke to her…short, cold, like every second in her presence cost him something. Either she refused to process that information or she was too stubborn to accept it. Either way, she came closer looking like a cute cat who had decided the world owed her soft voices.God, she is cute. I want her to smile at me. I want her to say my name with even a fraction of the affection she poured onto his. The wanting sat in my chest like a bruise I kept pressing on purpose.“Umm… no,” she started. “I don’t have any place to stay. So I was hoping I could…”Aiden cut her off coldly. “Don’t have any place to stay? Didn’t

  • CRAWLING TO YOU   Beneath Him

Julian’s POVI cleared my throat, the silence stretching just long enough to make me do something stupid.“You know,” I said, aiming for casual and landing somewhere near catastrophic, “Aiden and I grew up together. Same house. Same chaos. Same… everything, really. We’re basically the same person if you squint. So if it helps, you could just pretend it’s Aiden sitting here with you for a second.”Daisy turned to look at me and actually squinted her eyes.My heart skipped so hard I almost checked my pulse.Does she think I look good?Did I brush my hair today? Why the fuck did I wear this shirt to work of all days? Is there food stuck in my teeth? Can she see the stress sweat? Is stress sweat a visible thing? Why are my hands doing that thing on my knees? She held my gaze for maybe thirty seconds. Maybe less. Then she shook her head and looked away again, eyes locking back on the door with that same eager focus. And whatever fragile hope had lifted in my chest folded itself neatly in

  • CRAWLING TO YOU   I Want Her

Julian’s POVI had faced hostile boardrooms, hostile markets, and one particularly hostile lobster at a charity dinner in Monaco.None of them had prepared me for the woman sitting across from me in the private waiting room, ankles crossed, expression politely vacant, checking the hallway for my brother every forty seconds like a metronome of disinterest. This is it.I knew it the second the glass doors downstairs opened and my eyes landed on her. It wasn’t just interest… Not curious either. This is a full, idiotic, irreversible drop. Love at first sight…or something of that nature. The kind of thing I had mocked at weddings while holding a champagne flute and feeling superior. The kind of thing that, if it did not work out, would require me to renounce worldly possessions, move to a mountain, and become a monk. Because this should be it. She’s definitely the one for me. I have never felt this instant pull towards anyone… Ever. Not the socialites my father arranged. Not the models

  • CRAWLING TO YOU   Stuck In The Middle

Aiden’s POVValerie’s face went nuclear right at that moment as she blurted out in a fit of rage.“Yours?” She let out a sharp, ugly laugh. “That’s adorable, sweetheart. Do you even know who you’re talking to? I have been in his bed. I met his family. I waited while he played whatever game he was playing, and now some pretty face from nowhere thinks she can walk up and claim him? Over my dead body!”“I’m not a lunatic like you,” Daisy shot back with a grin. “I’m standing next to him. You’re the one screaming in a parking lot like a rejected extra in a romance movie.”“You little piece of shit!” Valerie yelled.“Enough.” I said, my voice cutting through both of them. I groaned, pinching the bridge of my nose hard. “I don’t belong to either of you so please…just get the fuck away from me. Both of you,” I said coldly.Valerie turned on me like I had slapped her.“Oh, that’s rich. You don’t belong to anyone until it’s convenient, right? Until you need someone to smile at dinners and look

  • CRAWLING TO YOU   The Two Women

Aiden’s POVWe had just landed in Connecticut, and Daisy was still attached to me like a fly that had decided my personal space was public property.Through exiting the plane, clearing baggage, through checkout and all, she stuck to my side like a parasite. She reached for my luggage before I could, insisted on “helping,” and floated along as if she had nowhere else to be. The entire flight had been endurance training. Every time she tried to open a conversation, I shut it down with the same flat excuse.A terrible headache that hurts whenever I talk. She had eventually apologized with a shy smile, claiming she had been drunk that night at the hotel and hoped she hadn’t upset me. I told her, clearly, that she had. And that I would appreciate it if she kept her boundaries. The look that flashed through her eyes then made it obvious she did not like that answer. But I cared less. When I asked why she was coming into Connecticut when she is obviously based in L.A., she said she had a r

  • CRAWLING TO YOU   Could This Be Love?

Gabby’s POV“I’m fine,” I said, softer. “I just got off the phone with Mom and I told her everything. Safe to say I won’t be marrying that bastard.”He exhaled hard, relief rough in the sound. “Mrs. Walter is my hero at this point.”We both laughed at that and when it settled, I asked quietly, “When are you coming? Ethan flew in to stay with me for a bit.”His voice dropped, grumpy and immediately possessive. “Are you two alone?”I rolled my eyes even though he couldn’t see it. “Don’t get worked up, mister. His girlfriend broke up with him. He’s heartbroken and needs some comfort.”“Doesn’t he have male friends?”“Stop. Ethan is my best friend. If he doesn't come to me when things like this happen, I’m going to be upset.”A pause…then he spoke again, still grumpy. “As long as he doesn’t get too close to you.”“He’s not like that. Don’t worry.”Another beat. Then something shifted on his end…movement, a muffled voice in the background and before I could ask what that was, he cleared hi
