The word hit Zafira like a punch to the gut. His betrayal, his crimson betrayal, broke her heart, shattered her trust, and destroyed her happiness all over again.

The pain washed over her, and she felt lost in darkness and sadness.

Her anger exploded. Her body shook with rage as she stepped toward him. Azrael opened his mouth to say something, but before he could speak, Zafira slapped him hard across the face.

The sound of her hand hitting his cheek echoed through the room.

The child gasped as he covered his mouth with his both hands. His eyes turned red and widened as he looked at Zafira and then at Azrael who was standing there and staring at her with guilt.
