The throne room is a mausoleum tonight. The pillars lean like watchmen carved from shadow and bone, their ancient stonework weathered by centuries of bloodshed and broken promises. The torches burn lower than they should. Every shadow feels alive, writhing with whispered accusations and the ghosts of those I have slaughtered in my ascent to this cursed seat of power.

My wolfguard kneel before me in perfect formation, their amber eyes reflecting the dying light as they await my command. Even though I can sense their unease, the way they shift almost imperceptibly when they think I'm not watching. The curse has changed me, twisted me into something they recognize but no longer truly know. I am their Alpha, their Queen, their god of war and shadow, yet even they cannot fully hide their fear of what I have become.

I dismissed them with a flick of my hand, the gesture as casual as swatting flies, though each one of these warriors could tear apart a dozen men without breaking stride. They s

The land itself began to scream.I felt it before the people did, the pulse of rot creeping through the veins of the world like poison spreading through a dying body. From my exile in the frozen peaks, I could sense every blight that touched the kingdom I had once ruled, every corruption that seeped into soil that had once been fertile and rich. The very earth writhed in agony, and I knew with terrible certainty that this was my fault. The rivers now ran thick and black, as though the Cursemaker had slit the throat of the earth itself and let its lifeblood drain away into darkness. I watched from my mountain cave as the waters below turned foul, carrying death instead of life to the villages that depended on them. Fish floated belly-up in poisoned streams, their scales dulled to the color of ash, their eyes clouded with the same despair that had consumed my soul. The skies wept ash, leaving every face hollow with despair. The grey snow that fell was not the clean white of winter but s

  • CROWNED BY BLOOD   Chapter 83: Wounds of the Spirit

The throne room was filled with whispers that carried more venom than truth. Each word floated through the air like poison, settling into the hearts of those who had once called me their sovereign. I could feel their hatred even from this realm of shadow and despair, their voices reaching me through the thin boundaries between worlds."She's no longer our queen." "She's a monster curse-ridden, beyond saving." "If we wait, she'll finish what she started. We have to kill her."Their words sliced through the air like blades, each one finding its mark in my children's hearts. Even here, chained in the Forsaken Realm with shadow-bindings that cut deeper than any earthly metal, I could sense their pain. The connection between mother and child transcended the boundaries of life and death, of curse and redemption. Through that bond, I felt Alexander's rigid stance, fists clenched so tight his nails drew blood from his palms. I felt Seraphina's eyes brimming with tears as she refused to let fa

  • CROWNED BY BLOOD   Chapter 82: Shattered Crown

The mountains swallowed me. Wind scoured the ridges, howling like a dirge, and I wondered if the sound came from the storm or from my own throat. The peaks rose around me like the ribs of some ancient beast, their jagged silhouettes cutting against a sky that never seemed to lighten. Time lost meaning in this vertical wasteland where the only constants were cold and the endless upward climb away from everything I had destroyed.Snow clung to my fur, then melted against fevered skin as the curse burned hotter. My body could not decide what it wanted to be: wolf or woman, monster or memory. The transformation no longer followed any pattern I could predict. Sometimes I would find myself walking on two legs, naked and shivering, only to discover hours later that I was loping through drifts on four paws, my breath steaming in the thin air. The curse had broken even the basic rules of its own existence, leaving me trapped in a state of constant flux.I no longer knew what was real. Reality

Alexander's blade clashed against my claws, steel ringing against bone. The sound echoed through the ruined courtyard like a funeral bell, marking the death of something precious that could never be recovered. His strength startled me not the boy I had once carried on my shoulders through the palace gardens, but a warrior grown, shaped by choices I had forced upon him.The blade he wielded was not his father's ceremonial sword, but something new forged specifically for this moment, blessed by priests whose prayers had been aimed at my destruction. I could smell the holy oils on the steel, could feel them burning against my cursed flesh where they made contact. He had prepared for this confrontation with the thoroughness I had taught him, understanding that sentiment would be a luxury neither of us could afford. For an instant, his strike cut through the curse's haze and I saw him not as an enemy, but as my son. The boy who had practiced for hours in the training yards while I watched

The sky bled red when the horns of war sounded. I felt it before I heard it: the pounding of feet, the smell of fire, the heartbeat of my children rising against me.The sensation hit me like a blow, driving me to my knees in the center of my throne room. For a moment, I couldn't breathe. The connection between mother and child, that primal bond that had once been my greatest strength, now transmitted their hatred like a poison flooding my veins. I could feel Alexander's rage burning white-hot in his chest, could taste Seraphina's tears as she steeled herself for what she believed she had to do. They were coming for me with the weight of righteousness behind them, and part of me, the part that still remembered nursing them through fevers and singing them to sleep wanted to simply open the gates and let them end this nightmare. But the curse had other plans.Hollowshade's walls trembled under their assault. The ancient stones, which had stood for centuries against siege engines and mag

Sleep abandoned me. The distinction had lost meaning somewhere in the endless procession of nights that bled into days without rest. My bed had become a battlefield where exhaustion warred with terror, where every attempt at peace was met with visions that clawed at the edges of my sanity. The silk sheets that once brought comfort now felt like burial shrouds. Each time I closed my eyes, I felt the rift like my body was a house with two doors, one opening to the throne room, the other to the Forsaken Gate. And something walked freely between them. The sensation was nauseating, a constant vertigo that left me perpetually off-balance. I could feel myself existing in multiple places simultaneously: here in my chamber, there in that grey wasteland, and somewhere else entirely that I couldn't name but instinctively feared. The palace walls groaned around me, responding to the fractured nature of my being. Servants had begun to avoid my wing entirely, claiming the corridors whispered when
