I feel like I’m living my life in a game, a game with multiple levels. From easy to hard, then difficult. As soon as I escape one level, I find myself in another level far more difficult than the last one.

I take slow, anxious steps home, constantly looking over my shoulders. Full moons should be banned by the government.

“I won’t die today,” I say to myself, breathing heavily.

I have a lot to prove to my mother, who cares about nothing but herself, who thinks I can’t survive alone. Thanks to her lack of empathy, I’m making sure I survive in this world to prove her wrong.
