Chapter 78

Author: Ginger Sue
After receiving treatment, Liana was transferred to a normal ward. The doctor said she wasn't seriously injured.

Although the wound was a little deep, it didn't require stitches. She had fainted because of her excessive panic and mental tension.

"You finally woke up, Liana!" Rosaline cried by her bed. She sobbed as if she was in Liana's wake. "I thought I would never see you again!"

"Alright, alright, stop mourning. Jasper isn't here. There's no point in crying so loudly. You're bothering

Jasper wanted to pull away, but he was too late. Alyssa clung to him with desperate strength, leaving him no chance to escape. He didn't even have time to catch his breath. Soft, broken moans slipped from the back of her throat, fragile as the cries of a helpless kitten. Shakily, she lifted her leg and wrapped it around his waist, as though only by anchoring herself to him could she feel secure—perhaps terrified that the man before her would vanish the moment she loosened her hold. Their kiss deepened, fierce and unrestrained. The quiet ward filled with nothing but the slick sound of lips meeting and uneven rhythm of their breathing—intimate, breathless sounds that could set hearts racing and cheeks aflame. Jasper's hand, braced against the pillow, tightened into a fist. Veins stood out sharply across the back of his hand before his fingers slowly unfurled. In the end, he surrendered. His hand slid to the back of her neck, as he claimed her sweetness and lost himself to it.

The determined look on Jasper's face brought the three of them back to the past instantly—to the days when he had loved Alyssa with reckless, all-consuming devotion. His gaze remained glacial, as though every emotion had been sealed within a dark, frozen abyss. Even so, that he had taken the initiative to visit Alyssa and was willing to stay by her side was proof enough that something was changing. "Alright, please help us look after Lyse."Jonah suppressed the storm of emotions rising in his chest as he pushed the hospital ward door open for Jasper. Jasper's eyes darkened. "Mr. Jonah, could you step inside for a moment? There's something I need to discuss with you."The two men entered and quietly shut the door."Is it urgent, Jasper?" Jonah asked at once. Jasper met his gaze and replied solemnly, "Remy reached out to me just now."Jonah's eyes widened. "He contacted you on his own? What is he planning?"A tempest stirred in Jasper's deep eyes, though his voice remained c

Strangely enough, Remy felt inexplicably more at ease the moment he heard Jasper's voice. He took a deep drag of his cigarette, forcing his emotions down. Just as he was about to speak, Jasper beat him to it. "Remy, is that you?"A mouthful of smoke rushed down Remy's throat, making him cough harshly. Shock flickered in his eyes as he asked, "How did you know it was me?""I didn't," Jasper replied in a low voice.Rather than sounding cold and distant, he seemed calm, as though he were speaking to an old friend. "It was just a gut feeling. When you didn't say anything, I somehow knew it was you."An invisible force tightened around Remy's heart. He crushed the lit cigarette between his bare fingers, using the sting of pain to suppress the surge of emotion in his chest. "Axel's lover, Ms. Amber, is here with me." The frost in Jasper's voice finally cracked. "How is she?" "Not good." Remy's voice was strained. Though a cold breeze surrounded him, breathing still felt diffi

A crescent moon cast its cold glow over the laboratory base, heavy darkness swallowing the compound whole. Remy and Finnegan entered Amber's ward one after the other. Amber lay motionless on the hospital bed in the dim, airless room, her frail frame nearly lost beneath an oversized white gown. The loose fabric only emphasized how thin and pale she had become, as though a single gust of wind could carry her away. Her cloudy, sunken eyes slowly opened and fixed on Remy as he approached. She was so weak she could not even part her lips to speak. A tear slipped silently from the corner of her reddened eye. Remy took in her condition, his gaze darkening. She was at her limit. If she weren't removed and given proper treatment soon, she would last no more than a month. "Remy…" Finnegan murmured near his ear.Keeping his expression impassive, Remy lifted his gaze to the surveillance camera in the corner. Its green light blinked steadily. In a cold voice, he instructed, "Administer the

  • Can't Win Me Back   Chapter 2513

Julien was simply helplessly in love with Jonah. If Jonah were poison, he would drink it down without hesitation. If he were a blade, Julien would press it to his own throat without regret. He loved him. It was that simple. All he had ever wanted was to hold Jonah's hand and grow old by his side. "If you're already halfway to your goal… what else do you need to finish it?"The dull ache in his chest made his voice rasp, hoarse and fragile. The smile vanished from Uri's face. Through clenched teeth, he spat, "His life, of course.""Don't you dare!" Julien's blood ran cold. He struggled violently against the chains, roaring, "If you lay a finger on Jonah, I'll kill you no matter the cost, you piece of shit! And if I can't, the Taylors and the Lovelaces will tear you apart! Kill me now if you have the guts! I'll haunt you even in death!" Uri clicked his tongue. "The Taylors and the Lovelaces? They're already in chaos. They don't have the luxury to worry about our little feud

"U-Uri?" Julien stammered. A bead of cold sweat slid down his sharp cheek and vanished into the pitch-black void below. "Your memory serves you well, Mr. Lovelace. You remember my voice even though we have only met once. I'm touched." A scoff echoed from above. "You're far better than that heartless, cruel Jonah.""Where am I? Why did you abduct me? What the hell are you trying to do?" Julien struggled with all his strength. The icy chains bit into his skin, scraping him raw. Pain seared through his body, but he couldn't break free. Uri let out a low, haunting chuckle. "I suggest you stop struggling. It's useless. I didn't tie you very securely. If you keep trashing around, you might fall to your death on your own. Then I wouldn't even have to lift a finger."Julien froze, cold sweat breaking out across his back. He didn't dare move another inch. "Uri, there's no bad blood between us. Why abduct me? Is it because of my face? Is that why you refuse to let me go?"Uri clic
