Valeria crouched down to face the twins, her expression firm. “Be good, okay? And don’t bother Mrs. Smith. She’s been complaining a lot lately,” she said.

Olivia and Oliver lowered their heads guiltily. Valeria gently touched their chins, lifting their faces so they were eye to eye.

“Just behave,” she added with a smile, then kissed their noses.

The twins immediately lit up with bright smiles.

Valeria stood and grabbed her bag.

“Bye, Mommy!” they shouted in unison before dashing back inside to play with their toys as Valeria waved goodbye.

“Here’s some money for the bus,” said Mrs. Smith, suddenly appearing beside her.

“Oh! That’s alright, really. Don’t worry, the hotel has a taxi service. One’s on its way. I should get going,” Valeria replied, already reaching for the doorknob. But her hand froze when the elevator door opened—and Sean stepped out, focused on his phone.

Luckily, he didn’t notice her. Valeria quickly shut the door before he could look up.

"What rumor?" "They say Sean married Karen's niece. But… the niece died in an accident. And then, Sean got close again to his wife's twin sister. Some people say they had a past—like, they used to be a couple." Amanda leaned in and lowered her voice. "And the worst part... some people actually think they killed the wife." "Seriously?" Valeria swallowed hard. "Do you believe that?" Amanda shrugged. "I don’t know." Valeria went quiet. Something inside her started to tremble. Not fear. More like... a gut feeling. "And now, he’s here. Eating your blueberry pie." Amanda chuckled. "If he finds out the chef is as pretty as you, you might end up being the main course." Valeria just stared blankly at the table. Her thoughts were racing. That name… that face… those memories... She hoped it was just a coincidence. But deep down, she knew—nothing about Sean Anderson was ever just a coincidence. "What was his wife's name?" she asked softly. Amanda frowned, trying to remember. "Jenna. Her

  • Captured By A Ruthless Billionaire   Chapter 134. Twenty Minutes to Impress

The room felt stuffier with each second she spent inside, all because of Alexa. Valeria stepped back into the waiting area, relieved that the receptionist hadn't returned yet. She sat down for a few minutes, nervously glancing around, until the girl reappeared. Now, Valeria could get a better look. The girl seemed to be in her early twenties, her red hair neatly braided, wearing a pencil skirt and a white blouse paired with a vest. The badge on her chest read: Amanda. "Sorry, I don't think I caught your name," the girl said, her bright green eyes meeting Valeria's. "Valeria Reed," Valeria replied quickly. "Alright, Miss Reed. Please come in. The chef will interview you now," Amanda said before turning and disappearing through the double doors. Valeria took a deep breath and followed her. Her eyes widened slightly upon entering the main kitchen of the restaurant. The place was bustling. Pans clanged, staff hurried back and forth, all focused on getting everything ready on t

Turns out, her bank account had been wiped clean. Only two hundred dollars remained. Valeria reported it to the police, but they just took her statement and said they'd look into it. No empathy. No follow-up that gave her any hope. She had hoped to survive on the cash she had and the café's insurance payout, but the insurance company said it would take time to process. She couldn't understand why all this was happening to her. Never in her worst nightmares did she imagine her life would fall apart this quickly. But slowly, Valeria began to realize one thing: good days don't last forever, but neither do the bad ones. She had to get through this phase. She believed in herself. She had to. Valeria wouldn't let herself end up on the streets, especially not with the kids. And the first step was to land that job today. Even though Mrs. Smith suggested taking a cab, Valeria opted for the bus. She needed to save every penny. Once she got off at the stop, she walked about twenty minute

One week. That was all it took for Valeria’s life to turn completely upside down. Just a week ago, she would’ve never imagined herself in this position. Valeria glanced over and saw Ethan and Emily glaring at each other while chewing on pieces of toast. No, she couldn’t give up. She had to stay strong—at least for these kids. She was going to get them through this, no matter what. A week ago, Valeria had everything she thought she needed: happiness, a best friend, a job, even a place she could call her own. But now? She didn’t have any of it left. Ben was still in New York, working day and night to build his first hotel. His own hotel, not something passed down from his father. Valeria just couldn’t bring herself to tell him about her situation. He already looked so stressed and tired every time they video-called. She’d told him to take care of himself more than once, but he never really listened. “Come on, kids! Time for school!” Mrs. Smith called from the kitchen. Ethan and E

Valeria opened the door and found Sean standing there with a suitcase and his twins. Olivia and Oliver stood quietly beside their dad, looking a little nervous but curious. “Hey, Val,” Sean said softly. “Sorry for showing up early.” Valeria smiled and nodded. “It’s okay. Come on in.” As Sean stepped inside with the kids, laughter echoed from the living room. Ethan and Emily were rolling on the carpet with Ben, laughing uncontrollably. But when Ben looked up and saw who had arrived, the laughter stopped. His eyes locked with Sean’s. In that brief moment, the air in the room shifted. Sean knew Ben was already aware of who Valeria really was—Jenna, the woman he loved, the one who lost her memory. And Ben knew Sean hadn’t come just to drop off the kids. He brought something heavier with him. Sean paused near the living room, his eyes scanning the scene. Soft rug, scattered toys, kids’ laughter in the air—and Valeria, standing right in the middle of it all, like she belonged. This s

Ben looked at her with a soft smile. “What would I do without you?” he asked quietly. Valeria pretended to think, scrunching her face. “You’d probably starve to death,” she said, then stuck her tongue out at him. Ben sat up and laughed out loud. “You’re right. I’ve always loved your cooking. But how about a goodbye dinner?” he asked next. “This isn’t goodbye,” Valeria replied. “And sure, we can have dinner. The four of us,” she added. “But…” she said before Ben could interrupt. “I know you’re feeling lazy today. I can see it all over your face,” Ben said, getting up and walking to the fridge for some water. “Who wants pizza?” he shouted. The twins came running in, yelling, “Me! Me! Me!” Valeria looked at them in surprise. Chocolate was dripping down their chins, their shirts were stained, and their once-clean hands were now sticky brown thanks to the heavenly mess of cupcakes. What had she been thinking, giving them a whole plate of cupcakes? Behind her, Ben burst into laught

“Kids!” Valeria shouted in panic when she saw the two children pulling each other’s hair. She rushed to pull Emily away from Ethan before the little girl could scratch her brother’s eyes. With a heavy sigh, she finally managed to scoop Emily into her arms, away from Ethan. “What happened?” Valeria asked, giving them both a sharp look. “He ate my ice cream,” Emily whined, trying to lunge at Ethan again. Valeria held her back and turned her gaze to Ethan. “Why is it yours? Your name’s not on it,” the boy argued. “And I’m pretty sure it’s not yours either,” Valeria said, narrowing her eyes. “Go to your room, Ethan, and do your homework. And you, young lady, will be doing yours in my room. Got it?” Emily nodded and dashed off to her room, followed closely by Ethan, the two of them shoving each other to see who could get there first. Valeria shook her head at their antics. What on earth was she supposed to do with kids like them? She returned to the kitchen and began choppi

Inside the office, Ben sat staring at a pile of documents. Sean frowned at the sight of him. Ben looked unwell. A thin beard had grown on his usually clean-shaven face. His hair was messy, as if he'd been running his hands through it repeatedly. The top two buttons of his shirt were undone, and his sleeves were rolled up to his elbows. His clothes were clearly not fresh. "You look like crap," Sean said, taking a seat across from him. He expected Ben to snap back with his usual sarcasm. Instead, Ben let out a small chuckle. "So, what did you want to talk about?" Sean asked, settling into the chair opposite Ben. Ben didn't answer right away. He stared at Sean in silence for a few seconds. Just as Sean was about to lose patience, Ben moved. He opened a drawer, pulled out a manila envelope, placed it on the desk, and slid it toward Sean, then looked back at him. "This," he said, nodding at the envelope. Sean took a deep breath, picked up the envelope, opened it, and read its conten
