Sean stood in front of the window in his office and stared at his reflection in the glass staring back at him, confusion and uncertainty clouding his vision.

He pulled his coat closer to his body and sighed heavily. He had no idea what he was doing or what was happening to him.

He woke up this morning with a severe headache, and when it subsided, he looked around and frowned.

He had a vague memory of what happened last night, but he didn't know if last night was a dream or not, but it definitely felt more than real. Even if it was a dream, he could tell that it was the scariest dream he had ever had.

Even though there was only Jenna in his mind, last night he dreamed of himself kissing Alexa, then Aiden's car pulling into the gate and then driving away.

Was Jenna there? Did she see him kiss Alexa? He vaguely remembered Alexa suddenly kissing him, but he let her.

He hoped it wasn't real, mostly because he was afraid. Afraid that Jenna would be angry. She would think, what kind

Valeria watched him carefully. The moonlight lit up Sean’s face, making every flicker of emotion clearly visible. She paid close attention to every word he said, then swallowed hard when she noticed his pupils were almost black. His jaw was clenched so tight that she could hear his teeth grinding. His fists were balled up, and his whole body started trembling, his face turning red from trying to keep his emotions in check. In her heart, Valeria made a mental note: never make Sean angry. “How did you know?” Sean asked through clenched teeth, his voice hoarse. Valeria cleared her throat before answering. “The first time I met Oliver was at the café. He was alone, so I went over to talk to him. After a bit, he said he was hungry, so I offered him a brownie. When he reached for it, I noticed blood on his sleeve—and then I saw the bruise on his arm.” She took a deep breath before continuing. “At first, I thought maybe you were the one who did it. But after getting to know you, I real

“Don’t scare me like that,” she said, shooting him a sharp look while trying to calm her racing heartbeat. But her heart only beat faster when she heard Sean’s deep chuckle and saw him sit next to her. Their shoulders touched, and her breath hitched. She blamed the chilly breeze for the goosebumps on her skin, though deep down, she knew that wasn’t the real reason. “Take it easy, you traitor,” Valeria muttered under her breath to her own heartbeat. “Did you say something?” Sean asked, curious. Valeria’s eyes widened and she quickly shook her head. His blue eyes held a playful gleam that made her even more annoyed. She rolled her eyes and looked straight ahead again. Thankfully, her heartbeat started to settle down, but her breathing still hadn’t caught up. Every time she inhaled, she could smell his cologne—and without realizing it, she leaned in slightly to take in more of it. As soon as she realized what she was doing, she sat up straight, pulled away a little, and sneaked a gl

It had been two weeks since Valeria moved into the Andersons’ house. So far, everything was going pretty well—at least for the kids. They seemed happy. The house had more than enough space for them to run around and play. Olivia and Oliver seemed even more mischievous than usual. With those two being as clever as they were, and Emily’s innocent face, the four of them made the perfect team for causing all kinds of little chaos around the house. Their poor babysitter always ended up being their target. Sometimes, she even had to run out of the bathroom screaming for help. Valeria, on the other hand, finally felt like she was getting the sleep she’d been missing for so long. With Saran or Lily helping out with the kids, she could actually sleep in a bit in the mornings. Three days ago, Sean had started coming home earlier every evening to spend time with the kids. He’d sit and watch them play in the backyard, and those moments always felt... nice. By “them,” it wasn’t just the kids.

"I'm still mad because you haven't told me everything," she said, glaring at Sean. Sean gave a faint smile and looked at her. "Really?" he asked, tilting his head. Valeria opened her mouth to respond, but no words came out. She looked away, knowing that Sean's gaze could make her lose focus. That was why she couldn't reply immediately. "Yes!" she finally found her voice and stuffed the remaining pancake into her mouth. All manners forgotten. "Val..." Sean cleared his throat. "I brought you here because Emily and Ethan seem more comfortable here. At least Emily likes it, and I don't want them living somewhere that makes them unhappy. Here, they can do whatever they like. They also have friends, Olivia and Oliver, who can keep them company while you're working at the hotel. Besides, Olivia and Oliver are lonely here too. So, it's a win-win situation." He had a point, if this was really about the kids, but it wasn't entirely true. "First, Sean..." Valeria began. "Ethan and Emily act

“Sir,” Blake greeted, and Sean gave him a brief nod in return. “Where is he?” Sean asked, rolling up his sleeves. He was going to make that man regret ever taking Jenna’s house. “Right here!” Blake said, swinging open the heavy metal door. Sean gave a cold smirk when he saw the man sitting in the middle of the large room. His lip was swollen, a big red bump sat on his forehead, and the shine from his bald head reflected under the light. He looked around nervously, sweat dripping down his face. Honestly, he didn’t look like a criminal—more like a dumb scammer who got in over his head. Sean walked over and sat in the wooden chair across from him. The man stared at him in confusion, but the fear in his eyes was obvious—and it made Sean smile. Yeah. Feel that fear. “Why am I here?” the man asked with a rough voice, glancing around. Security guards in black pants and black shirts stood in every corner of the room, arms crossed over their muscular chests. “I don’t know. You te

Sean gripped the steering wheel tightly. His knuckles turned white from the pressure. What the hell was going on? He thought that man was already in jail. How could someone who was supposed to be powerless still launch attacks from the shadows? Unless... unless this had all been planned from the beginning. Originally, Sean planned to give Jenna the space to live her life freely while slowly getting close to her again, without pressure. But now, with news that the suspect in the attempted murder case against Jenna was out—and with one strange incident after another hitting either Jenna or Valeria—Sean realized he had no other option. He had to act. He had to bring Jenna back into his reach and protect her, no matter the cost. His jaw clenched as he thought of Blake, the detective he’d hired to handle Jenna’s case. He needed to talk to him as soon as possible. When the traffic light turned red, Sean slowly stepped on the brake. His eyes shifted to Valeria, sitting quietly in the pa

"What rumor?" "They say Sean married Karen's niece. But… the niece died in an accident. And then, Sean got close again to his wife's twin sister. Some people say they had a past—like, they used to be a couple." Amanda leaned in and lowered her voice. "And the worst part... some people actually think they killed the wife." "Seriously?" Valeria swallowed hard. "Do you believe that?" Amanda shrugged. "I don’t know." Valeria went quiet. Something inside her started to tremble. Not fear. More like... a gut feeling. "And now, he’s here. Eating your blueberry pie." Amanda chuckled. "If he finds out the chef is as pretty as you, you might end up being the main course." Valeria just stared blankly at the table. Her thoughts were racing. That name… that face… those memories... She hoped it was just a coincidence. But deep down, she knew—nothing about Sean Anderson was ever just a coincidence. "What was his wife's name?" she asked softly. Amanda frowned, trying to remember. "Jenna. Her

Valeria crouched down to face the twins, her expression firm. “Be good, okay? And don’t bother Mrs. Smith. She’s been complaining a lot lately,” she said. Olivia and Oliver lowered their heads guiltily. Valeria gently touched their chins, lifting their faces so they were eye to eye. “Just behave,” she added with a smile, then kissed their noses. The twins immediately lit up with bright smiles. Valeria stood and grabbed her bag. “Bye, Mommy!” they shouted in unison before dashing back inside to play with their toys as Valeria waved goodbye. “Here’s some money for the bus,” said Mrs. Smith, suddenly appearing beside her. “Oh! That’s alright, really. Don’t worry, the hotel has a taxi service. One’s on its way. I should get going,” Valeria replied, already reaching for the doorknob. But her hand froze when the elevator door opened—and Sean stepped out, focused on his phone. Luckily, he didn’t notice her. Valeria quickly shut the door before he could look up. Her heart was poundin

The room felt stuffier with each second she spent inside, all because of Alexa. Valeria stepped back into the waiting area, relieved that the receptionist hadn't returned yet. She sat down for a few minutes, nervously glancing around, until the girl reappeared. Now, Valeria could get a better look. The girl seemed to be in her early twenties, her red hair neatly braided, wearing a pencil skirt and a white blouse paired with a vest. The badge on her chest read: Amanda. "Sorry, I don't think I caught your name," the girl said, her bright green eyes meeting Valeria's. "Valeria Reed," Valeria replied quickly. "Alright, Miss Reed. Please come in. The chef will interview you now," Amanda said before turning and disappearing through the double doors. Valeria took a deep breath and followed her. Her eyes widened slightly upon entering the main kitchen of the restaurant. The place was bustling. Pans clanged, staff hurried back and forth, all focused on getting everything ready on t
