Chapter 5 The Day Ruined My Life

Lucky's POV

Damien crossed his arms and stared into my face as if those two choices would save my life.

I was unable to speak but only felt my life was really a joke!

The man I loved the most was standing before me, trying to insult me with my baby, and the baby owned my egg and his sperm.

I looked at him feeling complicated. He should be grateful that he's clueless about the fact that I mistakenly received his sperm.

"I prefer you choose the last option." His eyes raked my whole and his eyes squinted, "I missed your body."

Anger overpowered me. My breathing became rugged. I tried so hard not to let pain and disappointment reflect my eyes.

I held his gaze and clenched my jaws. "Are you doing this to get even with me, Damien?"

He smirked, "It's not revenge, Lucresia."

"I'm just giving you a favor. You should be grateful for my kindness, Lucresia." He eyes at me with the malice clearly on his face.

I couldn't take it anymore.

Without saying anything, I slapped him. I poured all my pain and anger in that slap that his cheek turned to the right side while it's reddish.

How dare he call it his kindness?! He was just trying to humiliate me!

My chest moved up and down rapidly in fury. I wanted to slap him more but he had caught my arm.

"You dare not do this to me again!" He warned me as he gritted his teeth.

Yet at that moment, I was not afraid of him at all. I just wanted him to taste the same pain as me.

“Damien, don't take yourself too high." I quickly pushed him away and gave him a contemptuous look, "Why do you believe that I will go back to a man I already dumped?"

I boldly faced his burning glare and he constantly clenched his jaws from gritting his teeth. I could see his anger and I enjoyed it.

"Damien, even if I need a man, you will never be the choice." I showed him a sarcastic smile as I walked back one more step.

As the elevator opened with a "DING", I quickly walked out and left him behind.

Thankfully he didn't catch me up. I hoped that we would never meet again.

No matter what game he was planning, he chose the wrong person.

I never owe him anything. It's his family who took everything from me 12 years ago.

*Flashback*

"Look! Someone jumped off the building!"

I was on the way to my dad's company when I heard the sudden cry. And before I could raise my head, a shadow fell down heavily right before me.

His body was facing down and the blood was quickly staining the ground. Before the police rushed to check his identity, I had already recognized him from his coat.

The coat was the birthday present I bought for my father a month ago.

The crowd was loud, yet I couldn't hear anything but felt dizzy.

When I woke up, I was told that I lost my father forever.

After dad's burial, I locked myself in my bedroom. Damien and mom tried many ways to comfort me, but I just couldn't erase that scene from my head.

It became my nightmare which turned me into a lifeless ghost.

Even though tomorrow is my birthday, I still had no courage to face anyone. It was so painful. So freaking painful that I'd rather my father could take me away at the same time.

Buzz...Buzz...

Damien's message came in again. Checking his messages was his last compromise to leave me alone.

[Hey princess~ Today's sunshine is beautiful. I prepared some presents for you at your door. Would you like to check it?]

Everyday, Damien would try many things to cheer me up. Even though I might be the most negative patient, he never gave up on me.

I have a very nice boyfriend. He's sweet, caring, a gentleman, funny and smart.

I also loved him. But I just need some more time to fix my broken soul.

[They said uncle has also prepared something for you in the yard. Don't you want to see it?]

Hugging my father's picture while trying to suppress my cries, I decided to go downstairs.

"Are you sure about it, Lana? The Green family attended the burial, right? Did they tell you anything?" It was my mother's best friend.

I stopped on my tracks upon hearing my boyfriend's family name.

"I don't know…" My mom sobbed. "I don't wanna think negatively, but my husband mentioned about it a few weeks ago."

"Our company isn't doing well and the Green Corp is now taking the spotlight after my husband's death. We have a huge debt and I don't think selling the company and our house would be enough."

My lips parted as I never expected our family had met such daunting challenges. And I left my mom to face it alone.

How could I be so heartless? Just as I lost my father, my mom also lost her dear husband.

But I ignored her sorrows and even made her worried.

Tears burst out and I was about to open the door and hug my mom. Yet their next talk confused me.

"Lara, we're not sure about that. Why don't you try to talk to them? And Damien Green is Lucky's boyfriend, right? It might affect their relationship."

I sucked my breath. What did they mean? Was my father's death related to Damien's family?

My dad is a business prodigy. Salvador Holdings has been reigning the construction business industry for 30 years now after my father was appointed as the President.

Did they mean Green Corp forced my father to death so that they could take charge of our business?

No! I don't want to believe it! I need to meet Damien to find out the truth!

I didn't find Damien, but met his mother first.

"I'm about to go to your house, Lucky. Is your mom home?"

Tears rolled down my cheeks but I quickly wiped it away.

I sobbed. "A-Auntie, I need to s-see Damien."

"Listen here, Lucresia. I don't wanna see you hanging out with my son again."

I felt like my world completely stopped. Tears made my vision blurry.

"W-What?" I don't understand. What does she mean?

"You're no good for him, Lucresia. I don't want you for him."

Her words pierced through my heart like a sword. My trembles worsened.

I shook my head. "I-I don't understand."

She pressed her lips together. "I'll make you understand, then, Lucresia…"

"Break up with him, Lucresia. You're just ruining his life. His father wants him to study abroad so he could handle our company in the future but he doesn't want to leave. He doesn't want to leave because you're here. The only way to make him leave is to break up with you. Do you understand now, Lucresia? You are ruining his life."

I looked down. Pain burdens my heart. I don't know what to do or what to say.

I pressed my lips together. "A-Auntie…"

"Break up with him, Lucresia. I'll support your studies if you break up with him. Don't anger me. You know what I can do."

I sobbed and buried my face in my palm, accepting my defeat. I'm losing everything. Even Damien.

I shook my head as I remember the conversation between mom and her best friend.

"I-I just have one question…"

She lifted her chin with a blank face.

"Are you involved with my f-father's death?"

Instead of answering, she put a thick envelope in my hands. My knees wobble after I saw a pile of money inside.

"Take this money and leave my son alone, Lucky. I don't wanna be involved with your family anymore."
