Alejandro stared at me incredulously. “Do you honestly expect me just to walk away now?” And then he shoved the checked back into his pocket, and his lips are thin as if he was controlling himself to lash at me after all that I have said and done at him. “We have a hell of a lot to work out, sweetie.
