Chapter 6

I was awakened by a nightmare.

When I woke up, I was in the main bedroom of the Pack House, not the altar.

My parents were guarding my bedside, looking haggard.

Seeing me wake up, my mother was incredibly agitated:

"Seraphina, you're finally awake."

"Mom thought you would never wake up again!"

My mother looked like she had been crying for hours.

Her eyes were red and swollen.

My father also held my hand tightly: "Seraphina, can you hear me?"

"Does your body hurt anywhere?"

I looked at my father, my heart skipping a beat.

I couldn't understand why, after just one sleep, my father seemed to have aged ten years.

I wanted to respond to them, but when I opened my mouth, no sound came out.

My throat was dry and painful.

It felt like I had swallowed sand.

Just then, Elara and Rachel rushed in from outside the bedroom.

Seeing me awake, they obviously breathed a sigh of relief.

Elara looked at me with rejoicing and lingering fear, her tone full of pity:
