IVY’S POV

A royal party? The very thought of it made my stomach drop. I had spent my entire life tucked away in a quiet pack territory, completely unused to high society, politics, or crowds. I didn’t think I was ready for something like that yet, I thought, letting out a heavy sigh.

"You look troubled, Ivy what’s wrong?" Doctor Rachel asked, pulling me out of my spiraling thoughts.

She was standing by the small wooden table in my room, organizing her medical supplies after checking my vital signs. Her visits had reduced to just twice a week ever since my physical wounds had fully closed, but her warm, calm presence was still something I looked forward to.

"Leo wants me to be his plus-one to a party," I confessed, my voice barely above a whisper as I smoothed out the skirt of my dress. "It’s some big royal event with leaders from all over the territory. But... I don't think I'm ready for something like that."

"Are you talking about the Apex Gathering?" Doctor Rachel asked softly.

"Yes, that one," I murmured, staring down at my lap. "I don’t even know what happens at those kinds of things. I don’t think I'm ready to be in the midst of a huge crowd like that."

"Hmm," Doctor Rachel hummed softly, tapping her pen against her chin. She finished writing her notes in her medical chart, set her clipboard down, and turned to face me with a gentle, encouraging smile. "Well, looking at your checkup results today, your physical body is fully healed. You are much stronger now, Ivy. You don't need to be so scared anymore."

"It’s not just the crowd," I admitted, looking down at my trembling hands. "I don't even sit close to him during meals. For Leo to introduce me to the world as his mate, it means he’s going to have to be close to me. He'll want to hold my hand, or stand right beside me. Just the thought of it makes my heart race. I don’t want to embarrass myself. "

"Hey, don’t be negative. We’ll work on it together," Doctor Rachel said calmly, pulling up a stool to sit right across from me. "The event is in two weeks. That gives us enough time to work on closing the gap between you two. We will take small, safe steps every day. And once we do that, you can make your final decision on whether you want to go or not."

"Closing the gap..." I murmured under my breath.

A strange, quiet warmth bloomed inside my chest, mixing with a sudden flutter of excitement. I wanted to stop feeling like a scared, fragile girl. I wanted to stand beside Leo without flinching.

I looked back up at Doctor Rachel, my chin lifting just a little. "Okay. How do I start?"

Doctor Rachel tilted her head, a thoughtful smile playing on her lips. "Start small, Ivy. You don't need to force yourself into high-society etiquette right away. Just test his boundaries and your own comfort level in private. Ask him for small favors that require him to be near you, like reaching for something or standing close by. Let him release a little of his scent around you so your wolf gets used to his presence again. The key is taking control of the distance so you feel safe."

I nodded slowly, taking in her advice. "So... I set the pace?"

"Exactly," Rachel encouraged. "Leo respects you too much to force himself into your space, so you have to be the one to invite him in, step by step."

I went quiet for a moment, my fingers twisting tightly into the fabric of my dress. A sudden, heavy sensation settled in the pit of my stomach.

"What is it, Ivy?" Doctor Rachel asked, her tone softening as she leaned in closer. "I can see something else weighing on you."

I swallowed past the sudden dryness in my throat. "Do you... do you think my family will be there?"

Rachel’s expression grew sympathetic.

"Your father is the Alpha of the Ashworth pack, Ivy. An event of this size means every pack leader is required to attend." She gently placed her hand over my trembling knuckles. "Does the thought of seeing him scare you?"

I looked down at our joined hands, a faint, dull ache starting to throb behind my eyes. "That's the worst part... I don't even know."

My chest tightened, making my breath come out shallow and uneven.

"Every time I try to picture his face, it’s just... blank. Blurry shadows and cold, angry flashes from my past that make my skin crawl," I whispered, my voice starting to crack. A single, heavy tear escaped, slipping hot down my cheek before I could catch it. "It terrifies me, Rachel. What if I see him in that room and my body panics? What if I crumble in front of everyone?"

"Ivy, look at me," Doctor Rachel commanded gently, squeezing my hand until I met her steady gaze. "You don't have to force your memories to come back, and you especially do not need to worry about strangers. You are safe now. Your father cannot touch you or demand anything from you."

"But what if he approaches me?" I whispered, my chest heaving with uneasy breaths. "What if my family try to speak to me?"

"They won't get the chance," Rachel assured me firmly, giving me a reassuring smile. "You don't have to say a single word to anyone you don't recognize. In fact, I am very certain that Leo will not allow a single person to step close to you unless you want them there. He will keep you protected every second of that night."

I took a shaky breath, wiping the tear from my cheek as her words slowly sank in, anchoring the wild panic in my heart. "You really think he'll protect me like that?"

"Without a shadow of a doubt," Rachel said softly.

I let out a long sigh of relief, feeling the tight knot in my chest loosen just a little. I looked back at her, still a little unsure, but with a small spark of hope finally igniting inside me.

"Do you really think this plan will work?"

Doctor Rachel smiled mischievously, her eyes glinting with complete confidence.

"Oh, it will."

IVY’S POVThe quiet hum of the laptop fan was the only sound echoing through Leo’s spacious study. I sat comfortably on the soft leather sofa, the computer resting on my lap as I casually scrolled through the local news and wolf-community blogs, looking for any updates on high-society fashion for the upcoming Apex Gathering. Then, my finger froze over the trackpad.Right at the top of the trending entertainment page was a high-resolution photograph taken just hours ago inside the Royal Palace lobby. It showed Leo standing in his crisp black suit, looking impossibly broad and handsome, while a strikingly breathtaking woman stood close to him. She was laughing, her manicured hand resting intimately on his forearm, leaning into his space as if she belonged there. The glaring headline above the photo read:"High-Society Lovebirds Reunite? Lady Celeste and Crown Prince Leo Spotted Sharing an Intimate Moment Ahead of the Apex Gathering!"A sudden, sharp wave of heat flared deep in my chest.

LEO’S POVThe east sunroom was draped in golden afternoon light, filtering through sprawling floor-to-ceiling glass archways. Steam rose lazily from a delicate porcelain tea set resting on a glass table. My mother, Queen Eleanor, sat in a velvet high-backed chair, her spine straight as a blade, her silver-threaded hair pinned into a flawless royal crown braid."Sit, Leo," she commanded softly, not bothering to lift her eyes from the silk tapestry she was embroidering.I didn't sit. I stood near the archway, resting one hand inside my coat pocket, feeling the small, velvet box containing Ivy's sapphire pendant against my palm. "Sir Desmond said you summoned me, Mother. I have a long drive back to my estate."Queen Eleanor set down her needle and finally looked up. Her cold, sharp amber eyes, so similar to my own scanned my face, searching for any sign of tiredness."I received word from the High Council this morning," she began, her tone measured, every word calculated. "Alpha Marcus A

LEO’S POV"He has lost his damned mind," I growled, slamming my palm down onto the heavy mahogany desk. The mahogany rattled under the force of my Alpha aura, sending a tremble through the glass bottle resting on the tray beside me.Beta Sam and my Delta, Mark, stood across from me in the sunlit study, both holding rigid, defensive postures."What gives Marcus Ashworth the absolute guts to demand her return?" I continued, my voice dangerously low, vibrating with a dark, suffocating rage. "After what they did to her? If I didn’t arrive on time she may have died. He threw her away like trash, and now he dares to send a formal high-court summons demanding his 'rogue ward' back for pack questioning?""Leo, He’s playing a game," Sam said calmly, though his jaw was tightly set. "Marcus is a ruthless political snake. He knows pack law gives an Alpha leverage over unbonded pack members. He knows it is enough to stir up trouble in the High Council. He wants something.""Or someone is pulling h

LEO’S POV"I have a meeting at the high palace today, my love," I said, setting my teacup down on the small plate. "I will leave soon, and I probably will not be back until late tonight."Across the table, Ivy stopped eating. Her dark eyes grew big, and a tiny, cute pout formed on her soft lips. The sad look on her face filled my chest with warm love.I could not help but laugh softly. She was so sweet."Do not worry, I will come back as fast as I can," I promised, giving her a gentle look.I turned to the butler standing by the door. "Tell the driver to bring the car to the front right now.""Yes, Your Highness," the butler bowed and left quickly.I finished my food, wiped my mouth with a napkin, and stood up. Ivy watched me as I walked around the table. I leaned down, held her soft cheek, and kissed her sweet lips. She gasped softly against my mouth, her sweet scent of strawberries filling the air around me.I wanted so badly to cancel my meetings and stay with her, but I forced mys

IVY’S POV"One, two, three. One, two, three," Doctor Rachel counted, clapping her hands to the slow sound of the metronome on the table. "Keep your back straight, Ivy! Keep your head up and relax your shoulders!"Sweat was wet on the back of my neck as I tried not to trip over my long dress. My maid, Lucy, was playing the role of my dance partner, holding her hands out to pretend she was a big Alpha man. Every time I stepped forward, I accidentally stepped on Lucy’s toe."I am so sorry, Lucy!" I squeaked, stopping immediately and hiding my face in my hands."Oh, please do not worry, Lady Ivy!" Lucy laughed, smoothing down her apron. "My feet have seen much worse than your soft shoes, I promise."Doctor Rachel put down her paper board and walked over, handing me a cool, wet towel. "Take a deep breath, Ivy. Your whole body is stiff as a board. Royal dancing is not supposed to be a hard march. It should look easy, like you are floating across the floor on a cloud.""It does not feel like

  • Carrying the Alpha’s Child: Her Wolf Awakens    Chapter Twenty-Two

IVY’S POVI didn’t know the movie I chose was this erotic.Leo was sitting a little distance away from me on the large living room couch. Since the movie started, he had not said a single word. I had read the quick synopsis earlier and picked what was supposed to be a funny action film, but I certainly didn't expect it to have any explicit scenes. I desperately hoped it wouldn't last long.I tried focusing on the screen, but I felt my face instantly heat up as I watched the male lead lift the female character into his arms and carry her aggressively toward the bed.I turned to look at Leo, only to find that he was already looking at me.My cheeks burned fiercely, and I quickly turned away, staring back at the screen. I gasped in shock as the male character began removing her clothes right there. This was getting so much worse.A low, deep chuckle echoed beside me."You didn’t know when you chose the movie, right?" Leo asked, his voice filled with amusement.I buried my face in my hand
