The bullet had hit his shoulder, but Zekiel ignored it, quickly tearing a piece of clothing to tie around the wound. Meanwhile, Zayne clenched his fists, tears streaming down his face as he sprinted around the car they were chasing.

His movements were swift, and since Hazel was too preoccupied worrying about her friend Claire, she didn’t notice him. Zayne managed to catch up to the man who had returned to his mother, pressing the gun to her head as she turned away—then he pulled the trigger.

The man collapsed to the floor just as the car carrying the others sped away. Moving fast, Zayne ran after it, determined to plant a tracker on the vehicle. It was difficult—he had to stay hidden to avoid being seen by those inside—but he succeeded.

He watched the car disappear into the distance, then angrily threw the gun aside. Wiping away his tears, Zayne immediately ran toward Zoey’s location, his heart pounding with fear and regret.
