I hesitate to answer.

Under the bent table, my knees pressed hard against my chest, the white towel tight around my wet body. My bare feet were cold on the tiled floor, oil making the bottom of my feet slippery. I could smell my own fear, sweat mixing with lavender oil.

He walked around looking for me. His black shoes made a slow, heavy sound on the tiles. Step. Step. Drag. His leg was hurt from the cupboard.

He stopped near Elie's lounge chair.

He brought out a knife and started pricking Elie

  • Caught Between Two Billionaire Brothers    The Secret Behind His Scar

I couldn't sleep.Every time I closed my eyes, I remembered the stranger's face. That long scar running from his left eye down to his chin kept appearing in my thoughts. He was still out there. And the worst part was that I had no idea why he had attacked us.I shifted slightly on the hospital bed, wincing as pain spread through my body."Alessia, you should be resting."Enzo's voice came from the chair beside me.I turned my head toward him. He had been sitting there for hours, checking his phone occasionally but refusing to leave."How long have I been here?""Several hours.""And Elie?""She's still being monitored."I looked down at my hands."Can I see her now?"Enzo sighed."You've asked me that several times.""Because I want to see her."He studied my face before standing."Fine. I'll speak to the nurse again."He walked out, leaving me alone.I stared at the ceiling, remembering how Elie had tried to save me.She could have stayed hidden. She could have protected herself.Ins

The first thing I noticed was the smell. Strong medicine. Disinfectant. Something sharp that made my nose uncomfortable. I tried to open my eyes, but my eyelids felt heavy. My throat hurt, and my entire body felt weak. I could hear voices somewhere nearby, but they sounded distant. "Alessia?" A man's voice. I tried to answer, but my throat refused to cooperate. "Alessia, can you hear me?" This time, I recognized the voice. Enzo. I forced my eyes open. The bright hospital light made me blink several times before my vision slowly adjusted. Enzo was sitting beside my bed, his face filled with worry. His hair was untidy, and his shirt looked as though he had been wearing it for hours. "You're awake." He immediately stood up and leaned closer. I tried to move, but pain spread through my body. "Don't move," he said quickly. "Please, take it easy." My hand moved slightly against the bedsheet. "Elie..." My voice came out as a weak whisper. Enzo's expression changed. "Don't w

Pulled me back. And threw me on the ground. His hand was still twisted deep in my hair, knuckles scraping my scalp. He yanked me away from the window. My bare feet slipped on the oil. My knees gave out and my back slammed into the cold tiles. The air punched out of my lungs.I did not stay down.I rolled onto my hands and knees and crawled. My palms slapped the wet floor, slipping. I saw it - the broken leg of the towel shelf, wood, sharp at one end, lying near the reception desk. Two feet away. If I could reach it, I could hit him.I stretched my arm, fingers shaking, oil burning under my nails, reaching. Then his shoe came down.A heavy black boot, mud on the sole, pressed on top of my right hand, grinding my fingers into the tile. I felt the bones press. I cried out, a short choked sound. He grabbed me and suffocated me.He crouched over me fast, knees on either side of my chest, pinning me. His hands - large, hot, smelling of lavender oil and sweat - wrapped around my throat. His

His black shoes made a slow, heavy sound on the tiles. Step. Step. Drag. His leg was hurt from the cupboard. He stopped near Elie's lounge chair. He brought out a knife and started pricking Elie hands. It was a small silver pocket knife, blade short and sharp, catching the dim yellow light of the spa.He took Elie's right hand, limp from sleep, and pressed the tip of the blade into the soft skin of her palm.Elie screamed in pain. A sudden, sharp, raw scream that tore through the quiet spa. Her eyes flew open, wide and confused, her body jerking awake."Ahh! My hand! My hand!"Blood came fast. A small red bead, then a line of red running down her wrist, onto the white chair.I did not

Elie calling out to me."Alessia! Alessia, are you down here? Come on, honey!"Her voice came from downstairs, from the big living room, echoing up the marble stairs. She sounded impatient, cheerful, like nothing bad had happened.I pushed Enzo away. My hands flat on his chest, shoving hard. His chest was still warm from holding me, his shirt damp where I had cried on it."Leave! Just leave me alone! Get out!" I told him, my voice shaking, loud now.His eyes looked at me, hurt, confused, his eyebrows pulled together. His bleeding hand was wrapped in the white towel now, red seeping through. Blood on my white towel too. Before he could say anything, before his mouth could even open to say my name again, I pushed him out of the bathroom with all my strength. Both hands on his shoulders. He stumbled back one step, two steps, into the bedroom. And I slammed the door right at his face. The door banged loud, the wood shaking. I turned the lock. Click. Loud in my ears.I leaned my back again

  • Caught Between Two Billionaire Brothers    Get Out Of My Head

I woke up and saw myself in another room.It was not my room. That was my first thought before my eyes could even focus. The ceiling was too high and too white, with a small crack running across like a thin black vein. The paint smelled fresh and sharp, like chemicals and lemon cleaner that burned inside my nose and made my throat dry.The bed I was on was too soft. The sheets were white, too white, tucked tight around my legs like a hospital, like a place where sick people sleep. The blanket was heavy but my body felt heavier.Light came from a big window on my left. Curtains moving slow from air conditioner wind. Outside I could see tree branches but I did not know this tree.Where am I?I pushed the blanket off and tried to stand up. My legs were like cotton. My knees cracked. The floor was cold under my bare feet, so cold it shot up my legs. My head spun in circles and black dots danced in front of my eyes.I held the bedside table to stand. My hand knocked a glass of water. Water
