Chapter 15
Maris' eyes twitched, followed by her fingers then whispers erupted around her.
"She's moving." A faint voice muttered. It wasn't a familiar one.
Slowly, Maris unlatched her eyes with an unclear vision. She turned her head and glanced around, her vision becoming better the harder she tried to look. Finally, she could get a clear image of the people around her.
Suddenly, her breathing intensified as she saw three hyenas staring owlishly at her, their faces too close to her body.
"Where am I?" She raised her head up immediately and they moved back. "Ouch!" She winced when she felt a slight headache spreading through her head. "What did you guys do to me?"
She attempted nursing her head, but couldn't–there was something holding her wrist and she drifted her gaze down to see belt like straps clutching her wrist like a bracelet to the wooden bed they had laid her on.

The scent of something roasting above a fire wafted into Maris' nose and prompted her to open the windows to her soul.
