Chapter 37

Maris

Maris' breathing accelerated, so did her heart beat. Her muscles tensed and she vibrated, palms balled into fists. The sight of Dracula gripping Logan's throat set her soul on fire. 

Abruptly, she broke the chain around her wrist, turned and grasped the neck of the vampire that was refraining her from going over to Dracula. 

"Dracula!" Her voice sounded like a whistle, causing the vampires to whine, hands covering their ears. "Leave him alone or I'll kill him!"

Dracula dryly looked at her like he was bored to death–saying, "Really?" 

His brows arched and Maris had a firm grip on the vampire's neck who gasped for air. Her eyes turned eerily black. The strength in her multiplied as she gritted her teeth and was slowly raising the vampire with his neck. 

Dracula wasn't in anyway bothered. He continued to tighten his grip, closing up Logan's windpipe.
