Chapter 5: Bigger fish.

Lucy's POV;

I gritted my teeth as I angrily glared at Jason who seemed to have no shame and just spilled nonsense from his mouth. 

To think that Jason wants to stoop as low as insulting me in front of Mr. Desmond was just unbelievable.

Because of what Jason just said, I dared not make eye contact with Desmond, what must he think of me?

Jason walked towards us, while glaring daggers at me as I heard murmurs from people around us, Jason came to a stop in front of me, his masculine figure towering over me.

Was he trying to scare me by giving me a death glare or intimidate me with his body build because he was a man?

I stood my ground staring eye to eye with him.

"Shouldn't you be leaving already Lucy?" Jason asked, seeing that he hadn't succeeded in intimidating me and I scoffed.

"You know you are just plain stupid, just because I rejected your advances you dare insult me, you are a shameless man for even daring to hit on your friend's girlfriend!" I yelled at him and I saw his eyes widened and he clenched his fists.

I know that I shouldn't get him angry, but given that he just insulted me in front of Mr. Desmond and his staff I wasn't going to let him go scot free.

What do I have to lose? It's not as if I would be working for him and besides is he going to hit me in public.

There is no way he was that stupid to do that.

"You have no shame to even call me that,when you were the one trying to get laid with your friend's girlfriend!" I yelled at Jason and he gasped as he pointed a finger at me.

"Security! Get her out of here before I do something I will regret!" Jason yelled angrily.

Two security men approached me.I knew if I didn't leave now I might end up being dragged out ,so I turned to Desmond.

"Thank you Mr Desmond for your offer, I will think about it but right now, I will take my leave and call you later." I told Desmond who was staring at me with an unreadable expression, and when I tried to leave because I didn't want the security man dragging me out , Desmond stretched out his hand, stopping me from walking out of the door and I turned to him with a raised eyebrow.

He wasn't looking at me but at Jason and a frown marred his face.

"Mr Jason, I would like it if you apologize to her for your words." Desmond said and I furrowed my brows in confusion as I turned to Jason who seemed equally surprised by his request.

"W...What?" Jason stammered as a look of disbelief was written all over his face as he glared at me.

"I don't want to repeat myself." Desmond said stiffly.

"Desmond have you gone insane?" Jason asked him and he scoffed.

"Have you ever heard me bluff?" Desmond asked Jason who turned to me, breathing heavily as if he was trying to hold himself back from attacking me.

"I will ruin you." Desmond threatened Jason whose eyes widened.

"You couldn't possibly want to ruin our relationship because of a woman?" Jason asked, while pointing at me.

"I will if that's what it comes down to." Desmond said in a serious tone and Jason glared at me.

"You caught a bigger fish this time didn't you!" He sneered at me and I was taken aback by his words.

Bigger fish?

Is he crazy?

Apart from Desmond's son, who is my child's friend ,I don't even know anything about Desmond.

"Jason, I don't hear you apologizing." Desmond said and Jason sighed and clicked his tongue in.

"I...I am sorry." Jason gritted out, avoiding eye contact with me.

"Lucy Is the apology accepted?" Desmond asked me.

"Yes." I said as I didn't want to get on Jason's bad side.

Desmond's lips slowly turned into a smile.

"Well off you go then Lucy,I will be expecting your call." He said as his smile widened.

Wow this man is handsome, I just wonder why Desmond is this nice to me.

"Um...Thank you." I stammered as I hurriedly left the company building because It suddenly dawned on me that I wasn't the only one there and Jason's staff were looking.

I was sure that this wasn't over,but Jason doesn't know where I live so I have nothing to fear.

Jason can go and tell my ex boyfriend Andrew that I was living well and I won't stand and listen to any insult ever again. 

I wasn't that naive girl Andrew got pregnant and abandoned,I won't let someone walk all over me like that again.

Since the job interview had ended terribly, I decided to go back to the cafe and tell Bella how today got messed up.

I took a cab to the cafe, when I entered the cafe and Bella saw me she furrowed her brows in confusion.

I sat down at one of the tables and Bella joined me after she finished serving the table she was attending to.

There was another part time worker here at the moment so she can attend to customers.

"Why do you look so gloomy, didn't get the job?" Bella asked, concern evident in her voice.

If it was just that I didn't get the job it would be different, Jason had to show me his face and make me remember my ex boyfriend that I tried so hard to forget.

"I saw Jason,he was the one looking for a secretary." I informed Bella and she furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.

"Who is Jason?" Bella asked me and I remembered she must have forgotten him since it has been more than 4 years since I left my ex boyfriend.

She doesn't know my ex boyfriend that well ,it's just stories I told her.

"My ex boyfriend, Andrew's friend." I told her and her eyes widened.

"What!" She shouted in surprise , drawing attention to us.
