Not a Dream Wedding

Kaufman family mansion.

Sharlynn was in her room, standing in front of the mirror. Her slender body was clad in a simple, sleeveless, long silk wedding gown with only straps tied around her shoulders. A diamond necklace with a square emerald pendant encircled her thin neckline.

Her heart ached as she saw her body wrapped in a simple gown. The dream wedding she had imagined was ruined by betrayal. Her eyes heated until they were red.

"Sharlynn, you are beautiful." Adriana pulled back the hair that covered the girl's flushed cheeks. There were diamond and emerald earrings left by her late mother. "Whatever you wear still makes you beautiful because you are so beautiful."

Sharlynn smiled. Either she was smiling because she was happy on her humble wedding day or because of Adriana's praise.

"Thank you, Auntie," Sharlynn said in a low voice.
