Chapter 5

Luciana's POV

It has been three days since that rejection happened. I am still recovering from the pain and humiliation I received that night. The backlash I received just worsened, but my friends were still here beside me. They are trying their best to defend me. 

We were at the canteen area of the school, currently taking our lunch when Scarlet's group arrived. 

“Ladies, let's greet our rejected princess!” Scarlet announces, making me bite my lower lips. 

I let out a deep and heavy sigh, while trying to avoid her gaze.

“Just leave our friend, Scarlet. She's not doing anything to you!” Aurora yells, but then Scarlet slammed the table. Our food there started pouring out.

“I won't leave her not until I make her pay. She embarrassed me that night. I was supposed to be Alpha Massimo's fated mate but this stinky bitch took the spotlight from me!” Scarlet replied.

My teeth gritted, hands began to clenched. The woman's insecurities at me won't change. She must be taught a lesson. I should not tolerate everything she did to me.

“I never take the spotlight on you, Scarlet. It just happened that the Moon Goddess chose me to be his fated mate instead of you. But he already rejected me, so what's the point of going after me now?” 

I finally decided to speak up after so many days of keeping silent. It's just too much, and I couldn't bear it anymore.

“So, you're telling me that you're a gifted wolf by the Moon Goddess? You don't even smell good!” 

Her friends laughed at her joke. My blood boils, but I keep my composure. As much as I can, I will do my best not to lose my patience with Scarlet.

“I already smell bad, but you're still so affected by me. Is it difficult to get near Alpha Massimo, isn't it?” 

Scarlet gritted her teeth. I sneered upon finding out the reason for her tantrums. She can't get near the handsome Alpha King—Massimo.

“I waited for so long to be discovered as his mate, but you ruined that moment. I can accept other girls to become his mate, but you? It's an insult to me!”

She's about to explode in anger now. Knowing Scarlet, she's the leader of the bitches here in school, and she will not allow anyone to exceed her. I know she will make my life difficult, and now she's about to punish me. 

Her right hand lifted, preparing to throw a slap across my face. But before it landed onto my face, a strong hand captured it.

“Get off your dirty hands from her, Scarlet.” 

I looked at him and was stunned when I found Alpha Klein. He prevented Scarlet's hand from touching my face.

“A-Alpha Klein,” Scarlet and her friends stammered after they saw Alpha Klein.

“This will be the last time that you will bully my brother's mate. The next time your hands land on her, all of you will be kicked out of our school. This will serve as a warning, but don't wait for the worse things to come.” 

The threatening words of Alpha Klein made Scarlet and her group walk away from us. They didn't say anything in fear and I felt relieved now.

Alpha Klein looked at me and without even thinking, he grabbed me away from the canteen. I looked at my friends from the back, and they were stunned from what they saw.

“Alpha Klein, where are you bringing me?” I asked him, but he just glanced at me.

He kept pulling me, and we entered an empty room. I could feel my heart pounding so fast as I looked at him.

“Why are you letting them bully you?” He asked me in his serious tone. 

I sighed, “It's because I don't want to fight them.” 

He shook his head, crossing his arms. 

“If you want to become my brother's mate, then you should learn how to get rid of your bullies. My brother doesn't like weak girls.” 

I shook my head, disbelief written to my face.

“I shouldn't even try to impress him. He rejected me already. He hurt my feelings and there's no reason for me to do this, Alpha,” I responded. 

“We already talked last time that you're going to do your best to make my brother chase you and all I wanted is to make him learn his lesson. You couldn't take back your words anymore, Luciana.”

I bit my lower lips, while meeting his gaze.

“Give me time to think about it, Alpha Klein. I just need more time to decide.”

I just couldn't decide abruptly. There were things I needed to consider. 

“Okay, I will give you time to think about it.” 

And after that, he went out of the room. I bit my lower lips, taking out a deep breath.

I also decided to leave the room, but to my surprise, I saw Alpha Massimo with his friends outside.

My mouth widened, while my knees began to tremble when I met his gaze.

“What's with you and Klein?” Massimo asked. 

“N-Nothing's going on between us, Alpha Massimo. I just saw your brother here, and it's just a coincidence,” I explained.

He crossed his arms, brows furrowed while looking at me.

“Are you flirting with my brother? Is this your scheme to get back with me after I rejected you last time, Luciana?”

Stunned, I couldn't help but look at him.

“No, I'm not. I have no scheme against you, Alpha Massimo. I swear, there's nothing going on between us. We are—” 

“Good. I just don't want anyone from our family to be linked to you. We don't have to be joined by a stinky smell.” 

And then he walks out. I was left dumbfounded by his words. Tears already streamed down from my eyes because of my mate's excruciating statement.

But I will not let him continue to downgrade me. I have to be brave.

“You know what, Alpha Massimo?” I muttered, making him stop. “This stinky woman you just called now, she will rise and when that happens, you will begin to chase her back. Just don't underestimate me. I can make a change that you won't expect.”
