Chapter 33 | Grief

I slowly awoke, blinking drowsily. With a shudder, I realized I was still in my human form. I couldn't recall the last time I slept in this form. Nix's arm was slung across my body as he slept in, holding me close to him. I shifted my weight and winced at the dull ache in between my legs. After last night, I shouldn't be surprised that I was a little sore this morning. Hopefully, it will dissipate quickly.

I gradually lowered my shields and let my senses run wild. I'd gotten up much later than usual, and breakfast was almost ready. Last night's events had apparently exhausted me more than I realized. I blushed slightly at the memories and cast a glance behind me at Nix, who was still fast asleep.
