My body froze in place and the phone fell from my hand as I stared at the pair of flashing red eyes. The lights flicked on, revealing a man standing right in front of me in a corridor with wooden paneling on the walls.
Light from the small crystal chandelier cast a warm glow on the tall intimidating dark figure standing tall with a pair of sinful obsidian eyes piercing into me.A shock weaved down my body as the cold fabric of his gloves brushed against my tender skin. His dark gaze held me in place as if hypnotizing me and perfectly matched his raven black hair slicked back. His angular cheekbones trailed down to a concrete jaw that twitched and I realized I was staring.
But I saw red eyes in the dark. Was it an illusion? Why did it seem so familiar? “Running from someone, kitten?” His deep, enticing muscular voice caused a delicious tingle down my spine. But ‘kitten’? He was still holding my shoulders and I wiggled away, escaping from his hold. I gazed up and found his beautiful eyes staring at me with fondness. “Em…I was looking for the hall.” I lied, my voice a little squeaky under his brooding presence. “I see. Then you must have walked the wrong way. You shouldn’t roam around these halls alone, kitten. You never know who has eyes for you.” The corners of his lips tugged in a wicked smile and I couldn’t help but swallow in fear. There was something about this man that charged the air like electricity and it was hard to breathe without being conscious of it. Before I could think, my lips parted and I retorted, “Can you not call me that name?” He arched one eyebrow at me questioningly, the mischievous glint in his eyes not leaving, “And what is that?” I frowned. Was he pretending to not know what I was talking about? No random person would call a girl ‘Kitten’. Yet I found it strange to not feel offended by his way of addressing me. It rather sounded tempting on his lips. I dragged in a deep breath to calm my nerves, “Please don’t address me by ‘kitten’. I am not an animal but a lady.” I wish I could beat myself up with staff because I sounded like an idiot. In my defense, it was hard to think straight when he was this…hot. He chuckled, his laughter vibrating through my skin and I made the mistake of staring back at him. I might not have much experience regarding a man’s appearance, but I could tell his looks were what one called ‘illegal’. He was too handsome to be true and seen in a dead town like ours. “That you are, a full-grown beautiful lady.” His eyes swept down my frame and for a moment I felt my heart jump into my throat. I didn’t know what should be more concerning. Was it how he checked me out or was it how the first thought that crossed my mind was did he like what he saw? He stepped closer into my personal space, the scent of his rich cologne occupying my nostrils and I dived into it. What perfume did he use? “Allow me to show you the way, full-grown lady.” He said in a low, husky voice and my legs asked for extra support. I frowned, “Don’t call me that either please.” He gave me a charming smile, one that could easily wet a woman's undergarment, and asked, “Then what should I be calling you?” “Avery,” Why was I giving information to a man I just met? What if he was a kidnapper? “Avery.” The hair on my neck stood in attention at the way my name rolled out of his lips. It was so sexy for a name that was not sexy at all. I bet he could spell ‘Pikachu’ and it’ll sound like he was flirting. “Shall we?” he asked, I nodded my head and he walked ahead of me. As we walked past the darkness of the corridor, I kept fighting a battle with my mind about how he was safe and how he wasn’t. I agree he was intimidating in every way possible but from the branded clothes he wore, it didn’t seem like he would kidnap me for ransom. But what if he was a human trafficker? My eyes fell on his back profile as we walked and I increased my speed to match his strides. As if noticing me trying, he slowed down and we were walking side-by-side. From the corner of my eyes, I took in his side profile. Due to his completely three-piece black suit, his frame appeared camouflaged in the darkness. If not for his sharp face, he would have qualified for a perfect Mr. Invisible avenger. There was a latent, leonine power he possessed and carried authority when he walked. His broad shoulders swayed in motion and I could see some of those delicious ripped muscles lining under his blazer as the light from the hall fell on him. He must work out a lot. “I had never seen you around. Are you new here?” I asked out of the blue to break the intense silence hovering over us. Wilfair was a small town with a countable number of people and so everyone knew everyone. Literally. His mouth twitched, “No worries, kitten. You’ll see a good amount of me in the coming days, I promise you that.” He said. Again kitten? I opened my mouth to protest when I heard the indistinct chatter of the people and music flow out of the massive oak wood double doors left wide open. Two men were wearing a similar uniform and bowed. I didn’t make much out of it since it appeared this was a custom of the party. Golden light flooded my eyesight and I squinted to adjust my vision. When my eyes fluttered open, I heard utter silence befall among the people who were staring at me and the person behind me with a myriad of emotions playing in their pale faces. I turned to the man and realized I forgot to ask his name while he knew mine. “Where are my manners? Sorry, what was your name again?” I asked, but the answer did not come from him but from across the hall. “Alpha Dominic Dark.” Called one of the men whom I presume to be the warriors of the Blood Moon Pack and walked towards him with a look of respect. My eyes widened and my blood ran cold. I just told the Alpha of one of the most powerful packs in the world to not call me kitten?! I was royally fucked up now.*******************************Please vote with gems, comment and leave a review on the about section of the story to help this book rank up. Happy Reading.
SKY’S POV We had a funeral for Aisel after he… I blinked back the tears as I stared at the garden through the window. I hadn’t expected him to go away like that. If I had known, my words would have been different. I wanted to say I loved him and missed him and I forgive him. “Sky,” I smelled hot chocolate and turned behind to find my white chocolate holding a cup in her hand. She extended the cup towards me, the hot fumes touching my soaked cheeks. “Thanks lovely.” I said and took a sip from the cup. It tasted heavenly. Jannet was amazing at making hot chocolate and I was a fan of hot chocolate now. She took a seat beside me and rubbed my shoulder, “Wanna talk about it?” She had given me some space after dad passed away and told me she was here to talk if I wanted to. I couldn’t ask for a more understanding mate. It was her maturity which influenced me to a great extent and Silver had told me how he I was slowly changing into a more responsible man. Was I? I didn’t know. But I wa
JANNET’S POVDuring the wedding celebrations, I felt Sky’s constant gaze on me. I slowly looked at him and was met with his blue eyes eye-fucking me. If his gaze could burn clothes, I would have been naked by now.Avery danced with the Alpha and Sky walked towards me. He looked hot in a black blazer over his black turtle-neck top. He leaned down and whispered, “I should have paid the priest to get us married here too.”I blushed and tugged the ends of his blazer to straighten it. His face hardened a little, “I will be waiting for you outside the gates once the party is over.”“Okay.” I was excited to meet him. After Avery finished her dance with the Alpha, one of the warriors played Shape of You and a lot of them joined the dance floor, showing off their moves.Avery ran over to me and pulled me in a hug. She had freed her legs from the heels and was bare feet. “Goddess, they hurt.” She said and I wrapped an arm around her shoulder, watching everyone dance to the beats.“You wanna dan

AVERY’S POV I couldn’t move, I was too tired. Before my eyes closed, the last I remembered was the doctors pulling out the baby. I wanted to smile and get a look, but my vision was blurry. When I fluttered my eyes open, I was resting on a hospital bed. In the corner of the room, I saw Dominic leaning against the wall. His eyes looked puffy and red as if he had cried before this. What happened? “The baby!” I sat up and an excruciating pain shot through my back. Dominic came to my side and made me lean back on the bed. I looked at him, “Dom…the baby…” “Hush, calm down. You just woke up. Take some rest.” his eyes held no expression, they were blank. Why was he behaving like this? His behavior scared me. There was a certain emptiness in my heart that I couldn’t comprehend. “Dom. Where is the baby?” I asked, the impatience clear in my voice. I just wanted to see my child. Was that too much to ask? Dominic did not respond and turned his back on me. He approached a crib on the other
DOMINIC’S POVAvery slowly sat on my lap and wrapped her arms around my neck. She looked nervous.“And smells different.” Asphalt added.I frowned and pulled her closer to me, sniffing her neck. She had a soft tint of rose on her cheeks while I sniffed her. She indeed smelt different. It was not a perfume, it was her natural scent mixed with something…strange.“Dom, what are you doing?” she asked, the nervousness not lifting from her face. I could hear her heartbeat pacing, feeling her stress crawl through my skin. As mates, we could feel each other’s emotions. But why was she so nervous?“Did any of those bitches stir any problem in the coven?” I asked, my face hardened. Avery ran her own coven with thousands of witches under it. Some of them were not very trustworthy, so I always stayed alert. She shook her head and my frown deepened. Then what was the problem?Sean walked in and bowed his head, “Luna, two wolves have initiated a brawl in the fighting grounds and it is hard to stop
DOMINIC’S POV “Stay calm, Alpha. Repeat with me. Breathe in, breathe out.” Sky’s annoying voice buzzed in my ears like those mosquitoes you want to squash with your hands. I wanted to do the same. But he wouldn’t die and whine later like the child he was. I shot him a deadly glare and he retreated, knowing well my anger was at its limit. It had been fucking four hours since I saw her. When I woke up in the morning, I expected her to be beside me, lying naked, but she wasn’t. That’s when I learned she was stolen by her best friend for the wedding. I didn’t understand the hype of wasting so much time on make-up and shit. I would have married her if she walked down the aisle in her pink pajamas. She was beautiful to me, no matter what the circumstance. “I would have liked her to wear no clothes,” Asphalt chuckled and a sinful smirk lifted the corner of my lips. No clothes were better. But it was reserved for us. “Right. How long?” he growled and I looked at my Rolex. “How long, Sky
