Chapter Twenty-Eight

I could hear my heartbeat pounding in my ears, everything seemed to slow down and Shana's screams became deep and dragged out. I knew I had to do something but I had no idea what. Without even thinking about it, I ripped my hands away from my eyes and screeched into the air,

“Stop!”

Shana's screams ceased and all the cloaked men turned to face me. I glanced down at my hands and they had a glowing gold aura around them. Two of the men whispered to someone in a red cloak.

“She's a Sentinel,” one said.

“I thought they were a myth,” the other added.

The red-cloaked man raised his hand to silence them, then approached me. When he reached me, he grabbed my face and turned my head from side to side, then stared into my eyes like he was looking for something.

“Curious. You’re a very rare being, do you know that?”

I yank my face out of his grip and slap his hand away from me. In a split second, he holds his hands up and red lighting shoots out of them sliding around my wrists and ankles like a
