RUBY

Mom really came with Cookie the next day as well as her necessity. And Austin couldn't help but be thrilled at that.

We had been teaching him how he had to see a job. It was like promise. The difference was it was out of favor, and there was a deal about the payment. It could be out of money, like a thing or service. Technically, it depended on the deal.

I wasn't sure he could take in all the informations at once. But we would keep teaching him alongside the progress of the job.

"It's going to be a part time job during weekday. But the weekend is full time, and I will pay you full time." Mom said after she was done explaining about all the arrangements he had to follow. She even ordered me to oversee and remind him not to slip even for a day. "Do you understand?"

Austin nodded with Cookie was already in his lap.

"If you have a question, call me. Or ask your mother." Mom added and only after he gave another nod did she flash him a smile. "Then you start working today. Enjoy your f

RUBYI opened the door to Austin's room only to close it again a minute later. Wyatt and our son were having a fun reading time, and I though it was better for me not interrupting them. Not that I avoided a quality time with the tree of us. I just wanted that time to theirs because I knew a father and a son needed to create their bonds. I had enough, so it was Wyatt's turn. Therefore, I decided to find my own fun by reading a novel we bought together. Well, just remembering that moment already made me chuckle. Boring books. How could Austin come up with the term?Unfortunately, those boring books were my fun. I love reading stories as it felt like pulling me into a new world. Because of that, I often found it refreshing after finishing a book, even though sometimes I would be devastated by their tragedy. And this novel, I hoped, could be a refreshment, although I doubted it. I had read the blurb and it seemed a complipated story.I enjoyed my own company, reading the novel while havin

TINA"Get out! I'm sick too see your face!" The words roared around the room, jolting me in my place. "Get out!"My eyes rounded in disbelief at what I just heard. My father threw me out as if I was a trash he needed to get rid off as quickly as possible.I felt sting on my eyes. I should have gotten comfort from my family after my attempt to crush Ruby failed. And they should have helped with to orchest a new plan. But they turned me down."Dad." I begged him. I actually had no one to go since Logan threatened my friends not to help me. So my family was the only option left."Don't call me Dad when you don't even perform well as my daughter." Dad clenched his teeth. "You failed me, Tina. Not one time, but many times. And this, what you did is beyond my scoop. You're no longer my daughter anymore." After that, he turned around and left me just like that.I looked at my mother and brother, begging for pardon from them. However, they left me without any words. And what hurt me more was

RUBYI was shattered. The moment I heard that someone tried to kidnap my son, the guilt was building inside me, forcing the thought to deepest of my heart... that I was a failure. I was not such a competent mother, which led this to happen to Austin.I understood it was no one fault but the kidnapper's fault, not like the last time I lost Austin at the Botanical Garden. It was my fault back then. But this time, it was different. We had put him in the best environment. Still, this incident slipped off. If it wasn't for the bodyguard, we might have lost him."I know that look, and both of us know it won't do good in our situation." Wyatt made a comment as he walked from the bathroom. Water was dripping from his wet hair.I took a deep breath and sighed heavily. "I know. But I can't help it, Wyatt. It comes to my mind out of nowhere and won't stop even if I try to."We stared in silence for a few second before a sigh escaped his lips and he started to stride his way in my direction. Soon

WYATT"I'm sorry for what happened to your son, boss. I've checked on the school and they have a great review over these years. So I've never thought of this." Ron said when he came to the house a few hours later. "I'm really sorry, Mr Logan."I looked at him then sighed a long breath. "It's not entirely your fault. No one has predicted this to happen to any child." Another sigh before I continued, "Let's move on this part and give me an update."Ron and I were talking on the first floor. Meanwhile, Ruby seemed unable to leave Austin's side. She was in his room."The staff initially admitted that she targeted Austin and planned to kidnap him to get some money. She is in a huge debt, apparently. But..." He paused as if preparing himself--or me--before revealing another information. "... When we threatened her more that Logan will crush her entire family, she finally made a confession. She worked under Tina's order."I gritted my teeth at the surge of emotion rushing inside my body. Eve

RUBY"There was a failed attempt of kidnapping your son at his school."I couldn't stop my heart from beating wildly the moment Ron related the news. Austin was in danger, and I was away from him.Oh, God. Keep him alive.Thankfully, he was. We found him sitting with three teachers and Ethan, horror still flitting in his expression, and I knew he was just crying."Mommy." His voice was shaking as soon as he found us arrive. His body worked instinctively, standing up and dashing in our direction in no time.He was crying in my arms, and as much as I patted his back to soothe him, it was useless. They cry grew louder as the second passed by, leaving me no other choice but to forget the world and only focus on him as if we only had each other to cling ourlives onto, like before.I rose up and brought us to the nearest sofe. There, he kept crying and burying his face on my chest. His tears was like torture, hurting me inside out."I hear your reputation, but it seems merely words. I can c

RUBYHelen and I spent the next few hours, talking and laughing together. It was Friday night so she didn't have to think about her work or assignment for the next day, and it was what made the night fun. Nothing seemed to limit us, except time.I'm a mother now, and as much as I wanted to talk to her all night, I couldn't. I was no longer living alone, I meant only with my son, which Helen couldn't as free as before to stay over. She could, obviously. However with Wyatt's presence and we lived in the same city now, the option was crossed as we could meet everyday. And if I really wanted to stay over, it was better if we rent a suite.I just remembered that she didn't live alone anymore. How about my family? They were fine in the house. There no news from Wyatt so they must be having fun by now."Are you sure Austin is good that you leave him this long?" Helen's question rang in the air. She must have spotted me glancing at my phone from time to time."I think, he is. Look at how quie
