LOGINChapter 6: Caught Between Hate And Desire
Madeline The ride felt like forever. My hands wouldn't stop trembling, my chest wouldn't stop aching with panic and fear. I wanted to scream, to cry, to beg him to turn back, but I couldn't. Not when I knew William's life was hanging on the thin thread. Not when Rowan had already made it clear he would kill him and come after my children if I didn't do what he said. So I decided, I would do everything he wanted me to. Be his slave, as long as he doesn't go after the people I love. Finally, after what seemed like forever, we finally arrived at the moon crest pack. The place I swore never to return to. My breath caught in my throat as tears pricked my eyes. So many memories, both sweet and bitter rush back in. I could still see the young me, laughing with Rowan as a child. Running wild in these same woods. And then I remembered that night, that one night I should have avoided. The night of betrayal, where I lost everything. I pressed my nails into my palms to stop myself from crying. I couldn't show him how broken I was. Not now. Finally, the car rolled to a stop in front of the pack house. Shiver runs down my spine as my eyes land on the tall building, all the memories I've lost, flashing back to me. Rowan got out first, then opened my side of the door. “Come out.” I hesitated for a while, trying to wipe out the tears that were still forming in my eyes. I wouldn't want to give anyone any more reason to bully or look down on me, so the moment I get out of this car, I gotta pretend everything is fine even though it wasn't As he led me inside, all eyes turned on us. Whispering, flying around like wildfire. I could remember some gazes, especially those who looked down on me and bullied me then, they were all stunned, bewildered to see the girl who they once mock is now a doctor. ***** The moment Rowan pushed the heavy door open, the air inside hit me, followed by the smell of sickness and herbs, my eyes scanned its way around the room and located its way to the bed, where his father was. Laying flat on the bed, with his skin pale, his lips cracked and his chest rose and felt like every breath was battle he wasn't sure he would win. A deep sigh escaped my mouth as I watched him turning his head weakly, a groaning sound of pain escaping his mouth. A stabbing sensation pierced through my throat as I stared at him with sadness and looked back at Rowan who was waiting for me to speak “ Why are you waiting?” He snapped , impatience dripping from his voice. “Examine him immediately and get to work,” he commanded. Even though I hate the fact that he's so commanding and dominative, I would do everything to protect his father. Because he was once a man I considered to be my father. “I need my tools to examine him properly,” I murmur carefully. “I need a machine to know how deep it has gotten, but judging from his symptoms, your father has a brain tumor.” The young man who stood by Rowan stumbled back in shock, his hands on his chest, hyperventilating. “wow!” he exclaimed. His eyes brimming with surprise. “She's so smart. How did she know without touching him?” He questioned with a curious tone but Rowan quickly shot him a glare, silencing him instantly. “So fix it. Prove to me you're indeed one of the best doctors in the human world and cure him." His voice was rough, harsh, and aggressive like he couldn't speak without being rude. At least he should pretend to be nice for once. Why must he always be so rude? It's hurting. “I will,” I swallowed hard. “But I need the proper tools. He needs a surgery and without it, I'm afraid he will die. So he needs to be taken to the human world because I have no tools here with me.” And with a deep breath, I let out the words, hoping he would agree to it even though I knew he would disagree. “Come with me.” He snapped at me and walked away. Well, not the answers I wanted. If he agreed to it, then his father could be moved tomorrow. It's already late. “I'm loe,” the young man said as he followed us. “Nice to meet you ma'am.” He stretched out his hands but I ignored. “I've heard so much about you and it's such an honour to meet you here ma'am.” Gosh, can he just stop talking already? He's distracting me from my thinking. “That's enough, loe,” I cut him off sharply, glaring until he flinched before Rowan's voice broke in. “Wait here, Loe. You” his eyes found mine. “Come inside.” ***** As I entered his room, the memories of six years ago came flashing back like wild. Making my whole body tense. If I could turn back time, I would have stopped myself from walking into this very room, but now… I have no choice. My loved ones were at stake. A shiver ran down my spine as he leaned closer to me, so close that I could feel his scent. Stirring something in me I didn't want to feel. My wolf, still weakened by the wolfsbane I took, twitched inside me. He wrapped his hands around my waist and pulled me closer to himself, so close that I could feel his d**k pressing unto my thigh. So close that I felt the urge to rest on his chest and just cry out my heart. But no, he's my predator. My captor. The one I should keep hating. But yet my body betrayed me. my p**say shouldn't be reacting to his presence this way. His touch on my skin. It drives me crazy and makes me want to commit sin with him once again. “ your body remembers me, Your nipples are hard, I know you still crave for my d**k. I know you still want me, Madeline. ” His husky voice slid against my ear, making my heart flutter and my pants even more wetter. “Now,” his voice dropped even lower, darker and sexier, “ take off your clothes, like the obedient Madeline I know you were, and lie on the bed with your legs wide apart.”Chapter 53Autumn walked beside Kai in silence as they crossed the open yard and headed toward the forest. Her heartbeat was loud in her ears, but she kept her steps steady. She had made her choice. Hiding would no longer solve anything. Running had never given her peace. Maybe facing the truth, no matter how painful it might be, was the only path left.Kai stayed close, his presence both protective and grounding, like a shield she could feel without needing to see. Tessa walked on the other side of Autumn, her expression tense but alert. The trees grew thicker as they approached the border. The air smelled of damp leaves and morning mist. Kai lifted his hand and signaled for silence. Autumn’s breath caught as a faint growl echoed through the trees. They are close, Kai whispered.Tessa moved ahead carefully, scanning the shadows. Autumn stayed behind Kai just like she promised, even though her instincts pushed her forward. Something inside her kept pulling her toward the unknown wolve
Chapter 52MadelineI stayed awake almost the entire night, replaying everything that had happened since the strange wolf girl was brought into the ward. Her words kept echoing in my mind. She told me she came for me. She said I was the only one who could save her. She said Damon was coming.I did not know if she was telling the truth or delirious from the lunar vein sickness, but something in her eyes made me believe her. There was a faint glow in them, like someone who had seen things far beyond what any ordinary wolf should witness.By morning, my head was throbbing. I barely slept, yet I forced myself out of bed and dressed quietly so I would not wake the triplets. My heart felt heavy. A part of me desperately wanted to check on William again, but another part of me feared what I might see.The distance between us was growing. He no longer looked at me like his wife. He looked at me like a stranger. And it scared me more than Damon ever did.I grabbed my bag and headed downstairs.
Chapter 51 Madeline barely slept that night. Even long after the house went quiet, her thoughts kept racing in every direction. Rowan’s voice still echoed in her mind — filled with heartbreak, anger, and a pain she couldn’t fully understand. Autumn’s confession didn’t leave her either. It felt like she had stepped backward into a story she wasn’t prepared to witness.By morning, the tension around her chest still hadn’t eased. She dragged herself out of bed, washed her face, and moved around the kitchen quietly. The triplets were still asleep, giving her a moment to breathe. But her peace was short-lived.A knock sounded at her door — firm, familiar, and demanding. Her heart skipped.Rowan.As soon as she opened the door, she knew something was wrong. His eyes were cold, darker than usual, and his jaw was clenched tightly. He looked like a man carrying a storm on his back.“We need to talk,” he said.Madeline swallowed. “Come in.”He stepped inside, his presence filling the room imme
Chapter 50 The atmosphere in the room felt heavy, almost suffocating. No one spoke for several seconds after Rowan’s outburst. His voice had echoed through the walls, shaking everyone who was present. Autumn sat frozen, her hands trembling slightly on her lap, while Madeline stood by the window, her gaze distant and unreadable.Rowan’s chest rose and fell as he tried to calm himself, but the fire in his eyes betrayed the storm brewing inside him. He turned his gaze to Madeline, who finally faced him with quiet strength.“You lied to me,” Rowan said coldly. “You knew what she was planning all along, didn’t you?”Madeline’s expression didn’t waver. “No, Rowan,” she replied softly. “I didn’t know she was going to fake her sickness. I only learned about it when I examined her.”“You expect me to believe that?” he scoffed. “You, of all people, couldn’t see through her act?”Autumn swallowed hard. She hadn’t expected things to unfold this way. She only wanted to draw Madeline’s attention,
Chapter 49Madeline couldn’t sleep that night. Every time she closed her eyes, Autumn’s voice echoed in her head — “He knows you’re alive.” The words wouldn’t stop replaying, digging deeper into her chest like a thorn she couldn’t pull out.The clock ticked past midnight, and she sat up, pressing a hand against her forehead. The room was silent except for the soft hum of the rain outside. William was fast asleep beside her, his breathing calm and even. For a moment, she looked at him, wondering what would happen if he found out everything — who she really was, what she was running from, and why the past refused to stay buried. Her phone buzzed again. Her heart raced as she reached for it, fearing another message. But this time, it was from an unknown caller. She hesitated, staring at the screen before answering. “Hello?”There was silence for a few seconds. Then a low, familiar voice spoke. “You didn’t think I’d stop looking for you, did you?”Madeline froze, her blood running cold. S
Chapter 48 Madeline sat quietly in the back seat of the car, staring out the window as the scenery flew by. Her mind was far from calm. Ever since she’d heard the conversation between Rowan and the others, her thoughts had been in turmoil. The secrets she had buried years ago were slowly finding their way back to the surface, and she feared what would happen when the truth finally came out.William drove silently beside her, his hands gripping the steering wheel tightly. He could sense her restlessness but didn’t want to pressure her into talking. For the past few days, Madeline had been distant, lost in her thoughts, and he didn’t know how to reach her. Finally, he broke the silence. “You’ve been quiet all morning. Is something bothering you?”Madeline blinked, realizing she hadn’t even noticed how long she’d been silent. “No, I’m fine,” she lied, forcing a smile that didn’t reach her eyes.William gave her a knowing look. “You’re a terrible liar, Maddie.”She chuckled softly but di
