LOGINChapter 6: Caught Between Hate And Desire
Madeline The ride felt like forever. My hands wouldn't stop trembling, my chest wouldn't stop aching with panic and fear. I wanted to scream, to cry, to beg him to turn back, but I couldn't. Not when I knew William's life was hanging on the thin thread. Not when Rowan had already made it clear he would kill him and come after my children if I didn't do what he said. So I decided, I would do everything he wanted me to. Be his slave, as long as he doesn't go after the people I love. Finally, after what seemed like forever, we finally arrived at the moon crest pack. The place I swore never to return to. My breath caught in my throat as tears pricked my eyes. So many memories, both sweet and bitter rush back in. I could still see the young me, laughing with Rowan as a child. Running wild in these same woods. And then I remembered that night, that one night I should have avoided. The night of betrayal, where I lost everything. I pressed my nails into my palms to stop myself from crying. I couldn't show him how broken I was. Not now. Finally, the car rolled to a stop in front of the pack house. Shiver runs down my spine as my eyes land on the tall building, all the memories I've lost, flashing back to me. Rowan got out first, then opened my side of the door. “Come out.” I hesitated for a while, trying to wipe out the tears that were still forming in my eyes. I wouldn't want to give anyone any more reason to bully or look down on me, so the moment I get out of this car, I gotta pretend everything is fine even though it wasn't As he led me inside, all eyes turned on us. Whispering, flying around like wildfire. I could remember some gazes, especially those who looked down on me and bullied me then, they were all stunned, bewildered to see the girl who they once mock is now a doctor. ***** The moment Rowan pushed the heavy door open, the air inside hit me, followed by the smell of sickness and herbs, my eyes scanned its way around the room and located its way to the bed, where his father was. Laying flat on the bed, with his skin pale, his lips cracked and his chest rose and felt like every breath was battle he wasn't sure he would win. A deep sigh escaped my mouth as I watched him turning his head weakly, a groaning sound of pain escaping his mouth. A stabbing sensation pierced through my throat as I stared at him with sadness and looked back at Rowan who was waiting for me to speak “ Why are you waiting?” He snapped , impatience dripping from his voice. “Examine him immediately and get to work,” he commanded. Even though I hate the fact that he's so commanding and dominative, I would do everything to protect his father. Because he was once a man I considered to be my father. “I need my tools to examine him properly,” I murmur carefully. “I need a machine to know how deep it has gotten, but judging from his symptoms, your father has a brain tumor.” The young man who stood by Rowan stumbled back in shock, his hands on his chest, hyperventilating. “wow!” he exclaimed. His eyes brimming with surprise. “She's so smart. How did she know without touching him?” He questioned with a curious tone but Rowan quickly shot him a glare, silencing him instantly. “So fix it. Prove to me you're indeed one of the best doctors in the human world and cure him." His voice was rough, harsh, and aggressive like he couldn't speak without being rude. At least he should pretend to be nice for once. Why must he always be so rude? It's hurting. “I will,” I swallowed hard. “But I need the proper tools. He needs a surgery and without it, I'm afraid he will die. So he needs to be taken to the human world because I have no tools here with me.” And with a deep breath, I let out the words, hoping he would agree to it even though I knew he would disagree. “Come with me.” He snapped at me and walked away. Well, not the answers I wanted. If he agreed to it, then his father could be moved tomorrow. It's already late. “I'm loe,” the young man said as he followed us. “Nice to meet you ma'am.” He stretched out his hands but I ignored. “I've heard so much about you and it's such an honour to meet you here ma'am.” Gosh, can he just stop talking already? He's distracting me from my thinking. “That's enough, loe,” I cut him off sharply, glaring until he flinched before Rowan's voice broke in. “Wait here, Loe. You” his eyes found mine. “Come inside.” ***** As I entered his room, the memories of six years ago came flashing back like wild. Making my whole body tense. If I could turn back time, I would have stopped myself from walking into this very room, but now… I have no choice. My loved ones were at stake. A shiver ran down my spine as he leaned closer to me, so close that I could feel his scent. Stirring something in me I didn't want to feel. My wolf, still weakened by the wolfsbane I took, twitched inside me. He wrapped his hands around my waist and pulled me closer to himself, so close that I could feel his d**k pressing unto my thigh. So close that I felt the urge to rest on his chest and just cry out my heart. But no, he's my predator. My captor. The one I should keep hating. But yet my body betrayed me. my p**say shouldn't be reacting to his presence this way. His touch on my skin. It drives me crazy and makes me want to commit sin with him once again. “ your body remembers me, Your nipples are hard, I know you still crave for my d**k. I know you still want me, Madeline. ” His husky voice slid against my ear, making my heart flutter and my pants even more wetter. “Now,” his voice dropped even lower, darker and sexier, “ take off your clothes, like the obedient Madeline I know you were, and lie on the bed with your legs wide apart.”Chapter 42Madeline’s POVI dragged myself out of bed and into the bathroom, splashing cold water on my face. The image of his glowing eyes still haunted me. Something was wrong, deeply wrong, and I could feel it in my bones.Downstairs, the house was silent. The triplets had already left for school; William had driven them before I woke up. I was grateful for the quiet, but also uneasy. The stillness made my mind restless.I sat at the kitchen table, staring at my untouched cup of tea. My phone buzzed beside me—it was a message from Rowan.“Stay alert. Don’t go anywhere alone today. And keep the kids inside after school.”No greeting, no explanation. Just that.I bit my lip, rereading the message over and over. My fingers trembled as I typed back:“What’s going on? Why were you at my house last night?”He didn’t reply.I exhaled shakily, placing the phone down. If Rowan was warning me, then whatever danger was coming had to be close.Still, I went to the hospital because I couldn’t j
Chapter 41When I arrived at the hospital, everything looked normal on the surface. Nurses were already moving about, the smell of antiseptic filled the air, and faint murmurs echoed from the hallways. But deep down, I knew something was wrong. I could feel it.“Good morning, ma’am,” my assistant greeted as soon as I stepped into my office.“Morning,” I replied flatly, dropping my bag on the table. “How’s the patient in Ward Seven?”“She’s stable,” the assistant said carefully, though her tone hinted she wasn’t entirely sure. “But… she asked to see you again.”I let out a quiet sigh, removing my white coat from the chair and putting it on. “Alright. I’ll go.”Walking down the hallway, I could feel the tension growing stronger. My wolf stirred inside me uneasily, warning me that this wasn’t a simple case. When I pushed the ward door open, Autumn was sitting up in bed, her hair neatly brushed this time, her expression calm. She smiled. “Doctor Madeline.”Her voice carried an odd warmth,
Chapter 40The sound of the rain outside mixed with the quiet sobs that escaped from Madeline’s lips. She sat on the edge of the bed, her fingers clenched tightly around the small pendant Rowan had once given her. It glowed faintly in her palm, like a reminder of a bond she was trying so hard to forget. She lifted her eyes when the door creaked open and William stepped in. His expression was calm, but his eyes carried exhaustion. He had been out for most of the day, trying to sort out the papers for their relocation.“Are you okay?” he asked gently, dropping his briefcase on the chair.Madeline nodded, but her silence told another story. She couldn’t bring herself to look at him for long. Not when guilt weighed so heavily on her.“You have barely touched your dinner,” he said, walking closer. “Is it still the headache?”She shook her head slowly. “No. I’m fine. Just… tired.”William sighed and sat beside her. “You’ve been saying that a lot lately, Maddie. Talk to me. Did something hap
Chapter 39 Three weeks passed quietly after Madeline and her family settled in the small town near the river. The air there was different—soft and peaceful, far from the heavy tension of the werewolf world. The sound of children laughing in the garden filled their mornings, and the scent of wildflowers carried through their open windows.Madeline had begun to believe that maybe, just maybe, peace was possible.Every morning she helped the triplets get ready for school. Ethan and Ella always argued about whose shoes were cleaner, while Evan complained that his breakfast was too hot. William watched them all with a tired smile as he tied his tie for work.Madeline stood by the doorway, her heart full as she looked at her family. This was what she had always dreamed of—a normal life without blood, fights, or orders. Just love.“Mom, can I take the blue lunch box today?” Ella asked.Madeline smiled and handed it over. “Only if you promise not to lose it this time.”Ella nodded eagerly an
Chapter 38 The night air was cold and heavy as Rowan returned to his packhouse. Every step he took felt slower than the last. His wolf was restless inside him, clawing to be let out, but he fought to keep control. He had done what he thought was right by letting Madeline go, yet nothing about it felt right. It felt like something had been ripped out of him. When he entered his room, the silence was unbearable. The scent of Madeline still lingered faintly on his bed sheets. He sat on the edge of the bed and pressed his palm against his chest as pain tore through him. It was not physical pain. It was deeper. It was the pain of a bond breaking. His wolf howled inside him, resisting it, refusing to let go of their mate. Rowan clenched his jaw and forced a deep breath. “Calm down,” he whispered to himself. “She made her choice.”But his wolf did not listen. He could feel the animal in him trembling with rage and sorrow. His hands shook as his eyes glowed gold. He stood up and punched the
Chapter 37The next morning, Rowan stood in his office, staring at a map spread across the desk. Red marks covered the paper, circling several human towns. He had sent his best scouts to search for William and the triplets, but so far, there was no trace of them. His patience was wearing thin. Every passing day without them felt like fire in his chest. He wanted to see his children, to prove that they were his, and to make Madeline understand that she belonged by his side. When his beta, Connor, entered the room, Rowan’s eyes lifted sharply. “Tell me you have news,” he said.Connor nodded slightly. “We might have found something. One of our trackers caught the scent of wolves near the southern border. A woman and three children were spotted traveling with a man who fits William’s description.”Rowan’s hand tightened into a fist. “Where?”“Near the human village close to the river,” Connor replied. “They were moving at night, keeping to the woods. It looks like they’re trying to reach
