Syl POV A strained silence takes over my room. Saph looks like her eyes are about to pop out of her head. Asher POV I don’t realize that I’ve walked outside until I feel a harsh yank of my arm, pulling me out of my spiraling thoughts. “Asher, are you hearing me?” Saph’s beautiful voice, which is laced with concern and worry, breaks through the internal chatter within my brain. “Sorry. I, uh, was just thinkin’,” I say to her as I look around at where we are. It looks like I’m walking to the packhouse. Saph POV I assist the medical team as much as I can. I’m not a surgeon, but I refuse to leave Syl. She’s exquisite in her final moments. I keep my eyes trained on the doctor’s hands.
