Chapter 3

I almost blurted out that the one I had chosen was his brother, Eric, but then I remembered what the Alpha had told me.

"Since you've chosen Eric, I respect your decision, but don't tell anyone yet. When the time comes, I'll announce it myself."

After hesitating for a moment, I decided not to say anything.

Eric said nothing. He only looked at me quietly, but I could see the disappointment in his eyes.

I understood the Alpha's concerns.

It was better if this news came from him, so I stopped arguing with Wayne.

I let them laugh as much as they wanted and turned away.

On the ride home, Nala and I shared the same car.

She waved her wrist in front of me proudly. The bracelet shone so brightly it almost hurt my eyes.

"So what if you become Wayne's mate? I'm the one he loves. You'll never have his heart."

To everyone else, Nala appeared completely harmless.

But when no one else was around, she showed her true colors.

Looking at her, I couldn't help but recall the moment I caught her in bed with Wayne in the past life.

She had curled up against his chest back then, and Wayne held her tightly for fear that I might hurt her.

The sight was so shocking that I fainted on the spot.

Later, my dad, Chris Graham, sent Nala to the southern territory to marry the Alpha of the Greywind Pack.

I heard he adored her. Her life had been far happier than mine ever was.

This time, I intended to follow the Moon Goddess's guidance and let her be with Wayne.

I wanted to see what kind of ending the two of them would get.

With that thought in mind, I chuckled and said, "You're right. If he doesn't love me, there's no point keeping him around. I just hope you'll grow up quickly so you can be marked by him sooner. I genuinely wish the two of you happiness and a long life together."

Nala blinked in surprise. She then raised her brows and laughed. "I know you're only pretending not to care, but whatever the case, I'm the one Wayne loves."

I chuckled. I didn't deny it.

Some time later, it was the Alpha's birthday.

My dad once again asked me to deliver a gift on behalf of the family.

The moment I stepped into the villa, I ran into Nala, who apparently hadn't been home for days.

She had on an expensive custom-made dress and matching jewelry. She looked noble and elegant.

After seeing me, she walked up to me and spun in front of me. She smiled and said, "Don't you think this outfit looks good, Leah? And these jewels too. Wayne gave them to me. I told him I didn't like things that were too extravagant, but he insisted. He even said only I deserved things like this."

I frowned impatiently and tried to walk past her, but she blocked my way again.

"Leah, I just wanted to share my joy with you. Why are you always so cold?

"I know you're jealous, but feelings aren't something anyone can control."

As she spoke, tears suddenly welled in her eyes.

I reached out to move her aside, but she deliberately fell backward onto the ground. She started crying even louder.

"Leah, how could you push me? I'm your younger sister!"

That was when Wayne walked over.

"Leah, what are you doing?" He glared at me furiously. "Are you bullying your own sister? You're so mean!"

I looked at him, then at Nala, and laughed.

"Nala, I never realized someone your age could be this manipulative."

Wayne slapped me hard across the face and yelled angrily, "I won't let you talk about Nala like that!"

I felt a burning sensation on my cheek.

I instinctively wanted to hit him back, but I noticed the surrounding guests from the corner of my eye. I was worried about ruining the Alpha's birthday party.

I clenched my fists and forced myself to endure it while glaring at both of them.

A hint of satisfaction appeared in Nala's eyes.

Realizing he might have gone too far, Wayne reached out to me.

But Nala wrapped herself tightly around his arm and stopped him from moving.

"Wayne, I think I hurt my ankle when I fell. Can you check it for me?"

Guests passing by slowed down to stare at us. They started pointing at me and criticizing me.

"Isn't that Leah? She bullied her own sister just to get Wayne's attention. She's disgraced her entire family."
