Chapter 4

Author: Coco
Wayne looked at me with open disgust.

"Leah, apologize to Nala right now. How did I ever end up tangled with a woman like you? I have terrible luck."

His friends behind him covered their mouths as they laughed.

"Leah, this really isn't a good look. Why can't you be kinder to your own sister?"

"Exactly. Once Wayne becomes Alpha, plenty of shewolves will chase after him. Are you going to fight every single one of them?"

"Haha! Maybe Leah will become undefeated across the whole pack and drive every woman away from Wayne."

Back then, I had even learned combat for Wayne. I used to brag that anyone who tried to steal him from me would get beaten up.

Thinking about it now felt unbearably embarrassing.

Amid the laughter, Wayne stepped closer to me.

In a condescending tone, he said, "Dad will announce our engagement today. If you still want me to mark you, don't forget what I told you. After we become mates, we'll each live our own lives. You won't interfere with my life, and I won't interfere with yours. Agree to that, and I'll forgive your cruelty and arrogance."

I stared at him in disbelief. How could the son of an Alpha say something so ridiculous?

When I didn't respond, he took my silence as agreement and grew even more confident. "Be good. As long as you behave, I won't embarrass you too badly."

He was completely convinced I would let no one but him mark me.

Everyone nearby waited to watch the humiliation unfold.

But this time, I truly wasn't letting him mark me.

Footsteps came from inside the house. The Beta stepped outside. "What's all this commotion?"

There was someone else behind him. It was the Alpha's eldest son, Eric.

Today, he wasn't in a wheelchair. Dressed in a perfectly tailored suit, he looked far healthier than before.

When he saw the expression on my face, he walked past the crowd and stopped in front of me. "Leah, are you alright?" he asked softly.

The moment I saw him, I recalled the past life. After losing everything, I had wandered the streets like a ghost.

A car had slowly stopped beside me. When the window rolled down, this was the face I saw.

"Leah, why are you here?"

He had never allowed me to call him 'big bro.' I once thought he simply didn't acknowledge me as part of the pack.

Right before I died, I realized that wasn't the case.

"Does it hurt?" Eric asked again when I didn't answer.

I looked up and met his gaze. My eyes suddenly filled with tears, but I smiled and said, "No, it doesn't."

Wayne snorted. "Whether she's hurt or not has nothing to do with you. Eric, Leah is your future sister-in-law."

The Beta seemed surprised to hear this.

He glanced at me and said, "Come inside. The Alpha is waiting."

As Wayne walked past me, he rubbed his nose and lowered his voice. "Leah, don't forget what I said."

He looked pleased with himself, as though he could already see his future as Alpha.

However, that confidence didn't last long.

Once everyone gathered in the living room, the Alpha descended the stairs with a cane.

He stepped onto the decorated platform.

Although his hair had turned completely gray, he still looked strong and authoritative.

He took my hand with a smile on his face.

"Today is a special day. I have an announcement to make."

He paused before continuing.

"Leah has now turned eighteen. According to the agreement between her dad and me, she will choose one of my sons as her mate. After the marking ceremony, I will transfer 80 percent of my personal assets to the couple."

The Alpha was the wealthiest werewolf in the pack.

No one even knew the true extent of his fortune.

Forget 80 percent. Even 20 or 30 percent was enough wealth to sustain generations.

All the werewolves in the living room had envious looks in their eyes.

"Now, let's invite the two young folks onto the stage, and I will personally witness this union."

Wayne straightened his back proudly. He had already taken one step forward, but the Alpha suddenly blocked him with his cane.

He then smiled and turned to face his eldest son, Eric.

Eric had changed into formal attire. Under the lights, he stood tall and elegant. He looked nothing like the sickly and fragile man from before.

Holding a bouquet of roses, he walked up to the platform and extended his hand to me.

"Leah, will you become my mate?"

Ryan grew to inherit Eric's steadiness and my liveliness. He became the most adored pup in the pack.He often clung to Eric, begging to hear stories about how he once protected me from Wayne.Whenever that happened, Eric would pull Ryan onto his lap and glance at me with a smile. He then pretended to be serious. "So, my little warrior, one day you must protect your mother and your future mate just like I did."Ryan would nod earnestly even if he only understood half of it.After Eric became Alpha, the pack flourished under his leadership. Not only was he capable as a leader, but he was also understanding and fair. The werewolves in the pack all respected him deeply. He often taught Ryan that being part of a pack meant carrying responsibility, showing courage, and leading with kindness.Ryan never disappointed us. Even as a pup, he showed wisdom and compassion far beyond his age.During our free time, the three of us would walk through Moonlight Forest.Sunlight filtered throug

The days went by peacefully.A few months later, I found out I was with pup.As my belly grew, Eric gave up nearly every unnecessary social obligation.Every day, he made time to walk with me, tell me stories about the pack, and hold me silently while feeling the pup move inside me.He would press his ear against my stomach before smiling with wonder. "He's kicking me. He's strong."I felt indescribably happy during such moments. Finally, on a bright and beautiful morning, I gave birth to a healthy male pup. When the nurse placed the tiny, wrinkled pup into my arms, tears instantly filled my eyes.Eric held my hand tightly. His eyes were filled with tears too. "Leah, thank you. You've been through so much."He leaned forward and kissed my forehead affectionately. The pup had Eric's eyes that were deep and bright, but his nose and mouth looked like mine.Looking at the pup born from our love, I knew every hardship had been worth it.Eric named him Ryan Seinfeld. Unlike Wayne's possessive, demanding kisses, Eric's were full of care and tenderness. It felt like I was something precious he had nearly lost, but his passion was undeniable. He gently ran his fingers through my hair like he was afraid I would run away.Under the moonlight, his profile looked distinct and striking. The seriousness that usually lingered in his expression softened completely.Warmth nearly overflowed from his eyes.I could feel the changes in his body and the restraint he fought to maintain."Eric," I whispered while tracing his well-defined jawline. "I trust you."Those words seemed to give him courage. He looked at me intensely as if trying to carve my image into his soul."Leah. My Leah."He lowered his head and pressed a tender kiss to my forehead.Just as he promised, he was incredibly gentle. Every touch carried affection and respect. When I frowned, he paused. When I trembled, he soothed me.In his eyes, there was only me.I felt his love, and I re

Wayne lowered his voice and pleaded, "Leah, I know I was wrong. Can't you give me one more chance?"I swear to the Moon Goddess that I'll treat you well. I'll only love you."I didn't want to say another word to him. I was more worried about Eric's injury."Take him away. Let the Alpha deal with him."When we returned to the car, someone brought over a medical kit.Thankfully, the cut wasn't deep. After cleaning and bandaging it, Eric was fine, and it didn't affect the marking ceremony.I later heard that after Wayne was dragged back to the villa. The Alpha slapped him several times and locked him inside his room."Get someone to watch him. Don't let him out again."Without Wayne causing trouble, our marking ceremony went smoothly.Under the witness of the entire pack, Eric bit gently into my neck. The marking was complete. We exchanged rings before embracing each other and kissing. That night, after the banquet ended, I changed clothes and climbed into bed first.Eric lin

In Wayne's world, self-reflection simply didn't exist."A manipulative woman like you was never worthy of being my mate!"So he had known all along. He had only pretended not to."How could you ever compare to Leah? She's the real daughter of the Graham family. You're just an adopted daughter."I was only playing with you. Did you really think I'd mark you?"Nala's face turned pale. She had been adopted by my parents. In our family, it was a secret no one ever brought up.My parents treated her like their own daughter, but she had always competed with me for their affection. She even tried to steal my man.Even so, my parents still spoiled her, and I had always tolerated her behavior. Now, with her identity exposed in public, the whispers around us cut into her like knives."No, that's not true. I'm not adopted. I'm the Graham family's real daughter.""Do you really think I had no idea?" Wayne sneered. "Look at yourself. Your appearance, your education, and your manners. Y

The Alpha slammed his cane against the floor with a heavy thud. The room instantly fell silent."You jerk. From today on, you're not allowed to leave this house. Stay inside and reflect on your mistakes."Wayne still refused to give up."Leah, hurry up and tell Dad! Tell him you love me. Me!"I ignored him completely.Instead, I turned around and smiled at Eric, but he avoided my gaze.Soon, rumors spread through the pack.People said Wayne had argued with the Alpha because of me.Others claimed that after I chose Eric, Wayne grew closer to my sister out of spite.I ignored every bit of it because my marking ceremony with Eric had already been scheduled for the next month.During this time, Eric came to see me.He stared at me with mixed emotions for a long time before finally speaking."Leah, if you regret this, I can speak to Dad. I can ask him to cancel the marking ceremony.""Why would I regret it?""I know you love Wayne."His tone reminded me of the man who nearly
