CHAPTER 5

(DAMIAN POV)

About two hours later, my car purred softly as I navigated through the  quiet residential neighborhood Alina had directed me to.

The houses in the area  were quite modest, lined with small lawns, and occasional rusted mailboxes.

Alina’s  house itself was humble, its white paint was fading.

Their garden had  a few blooming flowers scattered among overgrown grass.

It was a far cry from the opulence I was used to, and for some reason, it made me feel even more out of place.

As I turned off the ignition, I immediately noticed

a figure emerging from inside the house, stepping out onto the porch.

My heart jolted as I looked closer, my brows lifting in recongnition.

It was Alina.

She walked with this air of quiet confidence,

 Her hair was neatly combed,

Her simple yet elegant blouse was  paired with fitted jeans making her natural beauty more obvious.

She was even prettier than I had imagined with my drunken eyes.

“Damian,” I murmured to myself, I was at loss for actual words.

I locked the car behind me and walked out briskly toward her, adjusting my tie.

“Alina”

 I greeted her,

my voice calm but carrying a warmth I hadn’t intended to reveal.

She nodded back politely,

 “Damian.”

There was a slight awkwardness between us, a tension that neither of us seemed willing to address yet.

Finally I gestured toward the car.

 “Shall we?”

Her gaze shifted to my hand as I extended it,

She hesitated for the briefest moment before placing hers in mine.

Her fingers were so soft, there was a strength in her touch that surprised me.

I led her carefully toward the passenger side.

When we reached the car, I opened the door for her and stepped aside.

She glanced up at me briefly, her expression unreadable, before sliding gracefully into the seat.

As I closed the door behind her and locked it, something suddenly caught my attention.

Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed another figure hurrying out from the house.

It was a young lady, with similar dark hair as Alina but a less striking presence.

She wore a simple floral dress and sneakers, her steps tentative as she walked halfway toward us.

Then she froze.

Her wide eyes locked on me, and her face dulled visibly.

She looked like she had just seen a ghost. For a moment, I thought she might say something, but instead, she abruptly turned around and ran  back into the house,

her ponytail swinging wildly behind her.

I frowned, narrowing my eyes at her retreating figure.

What the hell was that about? I glanced back at the house, but the door had already slammed shut.

My confusion deepened as I turned back to the car, shaking my head slightly.

Maybe it was nothing.

The restaurant we later chose  was modest but elegant,

The faint aroma of freshly baked bread and roasted herbs coated the air.

Alina was  sitting across from me, her eyes scanning the menu quietly.

I pretended to do the same, though my attention kept wandering to her.

I could sense the slight nervousness in her movements, the way her fingers fidgeted with the edge of the menu, as she mouthed the names.

When the waitress came over, I quickly ordered

grilled salmon with a side of roasted vegetables and a glass of sparkling water.

Alina allowed  a brief pause before asking for chicken alfredo and  lemonade.

The waitress nodded, scribbled down our orders, and disappeared into the kitchen.

When the food arrived, I tried to focus on the meal, cutting into the salmon and taking a deliberate bite.

The flavors were exquisite, but I barely noticed. Alina ate her food slowly, her eyes on her plate.

For eight long minutes, we ate in silence,

Finally, unable to stand it any longer, I set my fork down and sat up straighter, clasping my hands together on the table.

“Alina,”

I began, my voice low and hesitant.

She looked up, her eyes meeting mine.

“I’ve been thinking about what happened last night,” I said, shifting uncomfortably in my seat.

“When I saw… the bloodstains, I felt terrible. Like I had crossed a line I had no right to cross.”

My words hung in the air, heavy with the guilt I have carrying for over a day now.

“I snuck out because I couldn’t face what I had  done. I thought I had  taken advantage of you.”

Her cheeks turned pink, and she looked down at her hands, twisting them nervously.

Then she spoke.

 “Damian,” she whispered.

. “Stop blaming yourself.”

I blinked twice at her, caught off guard by the firmness in her tone.

She still didn’t look at me, she kept her eyes on her plate..

“I am not  exactly blameless,” she admitted in the same manner.

“I drank way too much. And… yes, there was some force, but it wasn’t…”

She paused, her throat working as she swallowed hard.

“It wasn’t entirely one-sided. I guess the best way to describe it is… a drunken but consensual encounter.”

Her words landed heavily, and I didn’t know how to respond.

I watched her, the vulnerability in her posture, the way she kept avoiding my gaze.

I opened my mouth to say something….anything..

but then I froze.

Over her shoulder, near the entrance to the restaurant, I caught a glimpse of someone.

A young woman. I squinted, trying to make sense of what I was seeing. She was gone in an instant, but I could’ve sworn it was the same girl I had sighted earlier at Alina’s house.

“Damian?” Alina’s voice pulled me back. She leaned forward slightly, her brow furrowed in concern.

“What’s wrong?”

I didn’t answer right away, I was still staring at the spot where the figure had been.

Was I imagining things? My eyes narrowed as I scanned the room again, searching for any trace of her. I saw nothing.

“Damian,”

Alina repeated, more insistent this time.

I turned back to her, my confusion evident.

I opened my mouth to ask if she had a sister, but before the words could come out, my phone vibrated loudly on the table, interrupting the moment.

I looked down at the screen, and my heart skipped a beat.

The name flashing on it made my stomach drop.

“Shit,” I muttered under my breath, my fingers tightening around the phone.

“What’s going on?” Alina’s voice was sharper now, her eyes wide with concern.

“What's going on please” She repeated.

CHAPTER 133ZARA POVI sat in the dimly lit corner of the club, sipping my wine, a small, satisfied smile curling on my lips as I quietly watched the activities around me. A number of the customers were moving about, laughing, chatting, oblivious to the games being played in the shadows. It was amusing, really. They had no idea.Audrey was gone now, storming off in her self-righteous anger.I could still feel the tension hanging in the air from our little confrontation. I took another slow sip from my glass, letting the rich taste of the wine slide down my throat as I considered the scene that had just unfolded. She thought she had the upper hand. She thought her little declarations of loyalty to Zain would throw me off. How amusing. After a few more moments of silently observing the room, I set my glass down gently on the table and reached into my bag, my fingers brushing against something cold and metallic. I pulled out the small, dark device, no bigger than the palm of my hand.

CHAPTER 132(AUDREY POV)I stepped out of Elora's bar and into the crisp night air, my footsteps slow and hesitant as I made my way to the roadside.I paused, rubbing my arms, though it wasn’t the cold that bothered me.It was everything that had just happened inside there few minutes ago. What the hell had I been thinking? Emphasis? Leaving a perfectly good evening with Zain just to come all the way here to see her?His ex-girlfriend, of all people.I sighed, my breath visible in the cool night air. It was indeed a stupid idea, an idea only triggered by unnecessary jealousy. Why was I even jealous when I was the one getting married to him in a short while. Worse still, I had lied to Zain to get here. Told him it was just a quick work call…something so harmless, so normal, that even I almost believed it.And now, I would have to lie to him again when I got back.I would have to look him in the eyes, knowing I had snuck off to meet Zara without telling him. What was I even thinking?

  • Circle of Love   CHAPTER  131

CHAPTER 131(ZAIN POV)I pulled up to the mansion, the gates looming ahead like sentinels, cold and imposing. The moment I honked once, they began to open without hesitation. No delays. The guards were at their posts, saluting as I passed through, but I didn’t acknowledge them.I couldn’t. My head wasn’t in the right place for pleasantries, not after the way the night had unfolded. My fingers tightened around the steering wheel as I navigated through the driveway, headlights cutting through the dim light of the evening.I couldn’t stop thinking about Audrey. She had left so abruptly, right in the middle of an evening I had planned for us, for us.I sighed, shaking my head as I tried to push away the frustration gnawing at me.The memory of that phone call lingered, though. A private number. Some vague voice. What had been so urgent that she couldn’t wait?I glanced at the empty seat beside me and my chest tightened. It wasn’t just the fact that she left, it was the way she left.Q

  • Circle of Love   CHAPTER  130

CHAPTER 130(AUDREY POV)The dim lighting of Elora’s bar cast a soft amber glow over everything, but it did nothing to soothe my anxiety and rising nerves. I had told Zain it was just a quick work call, a lie so smooth I almost believed it myself. He trusted me, and the weight of that sat uncomfortably in my chest as I walked deeper into the bar.My eyes swept the room, and there she was. Zara sat in the far corner, shrouded in shadows, her body language radiating control. The body language of someone who felt she was born to hold sway over others without even trying. She wasn’t fidgeting. She wasn’t looking around nervously. No, the Zara lady was actually waiting for me.Her fingers drummed rhythmically on the edge of the table, her gaze already locked on me as if she was so sure I would come….just for the mere fact that she said so.Each step I took was slow, measured, deliberate, though my heart pounded loudly in my chest. Was it even right to be here? Should I have ignored

  • Circle of Love   CHAPTER 129

CHAPTER 129(ZARA POV)I leaned back in my chair, the smooth, cold surface of the dining table beneath my fingertips. The room was quiet, but my mind was far from still.Too many thoughts were in my head, too many schemes. The burner phone sat beside me, screen black and silent, but soon it would play its part.I had found out exactly where Zain and Audrey were spending their evening. Some quaint looking park area downtown, the kind of place that pretended to be charming but screamed of pretence.Perfect for what I had in mind. My lips curled, a smirk tugging at the corner. It was time.I picked up the burner phone, feeling the cheap plastic cool in my palm, and dialled the number, switching my privacy settings to “hidden” before tapping the call button. The phone rang twice before a familiar voice filled the line, steady but curious.“Hello?”I steadied my breath, letting it catch in my throat for just a moment before I lowered my voice into a rough, unfamiliar rasp. “Hello sir you

I had just woken up from a really happy dream. For a moment, everything felt real.every detail was so vivid, almost as if I had truly stepped into another world.I had dreamt about my wedding day with Zain, and from what I saw it was like an event spun straight from heaven.Sunlight bathed the scene in gold, and everything felt perfect.
