Ryder POV

They come at dawn.

I'm on watch when the first scout reports movement on the eastern ridge. Two hundred wolves, moving fast with Thorne at the front.

"Everyone to positions." I speak into the radio. "This is it."

The compound erupts into controlled chaos. Wolves running to defensive positions, weapons being distributed, last-minute preparations. Doc secures the medical bay, Phoenix gets communications online, Knox coordinates the fighters.

And Jolie is still unconscious from healing Crimson Peak's Luna four hours ago.

I tried to stop her, tried to make her rest, but she wouldn't listen. The dying woman arrived at midnight and Jolie dragged herself out of bed to help. The healing took three hours and nearly killed her.

Now she's in a coma-like sleep while an army descends on us.

"Status on the Luna?" Knox appears beside me.

"Still out," I say through gritted teeth. "Doc says she might wake in an hour, maybe twelve hours, definitely no way to know."
