CHAPTER 74

ADRIEN

The punching bag was already bleeding sand by the time Matteo called time. My knuckles throbbed, split open days ago and never allowed to heal. I didn’t care. Pain grounded me. Pain reminded me I wasn’t dead.

"You need to wrap your hands, Adrien," Matteo said, tossing me the gauze.

I ignored him.

Matteo sighed but didn’t press. He used to—back when I was softer, still stupid enough to believe Luca might actually care. But now, even Matteo didn’t know how to reach me.

Every morning, I was up before the sun. Training. Shooting. Knives. Repetition until exhaustion. I didn’t joke anymore. Didn’t speak. I didn’t eat much either. Only enough to stay sharp. Alive. Dead on the inside, but breathing.

Damon started watching me closer. At first it was amusement—then it turned to concern. Now, it was wariness. Like he didn’t know who I was anymore.

Good.

That meant it was working.

By midday, I dragged myself into the dining hall. I hadn’t eaten all morning. Matteo and Damon sat

CHAPTER 82ADRIENIt was 11:03 p.m.I sat by the window, lights off, heart tight. I’d packed nothing. Not even my phone. Nothing in this house felt like mine. I just waited… watching the gate. Then I saw him.Sleek black SUV. Another car behind it. Windows tinted. No headlights. Silent like a ghost.Lucien.My legs moved before my mind did.I opened the bedroom door quietly. Every step down the hallway sounded too loud. I didn’t care. If they tried to stop me, fine. Let them. I wasn’t staying here another night. Not with Luca. Not after everything.By the time I got outside, Luca’s guards had already surrounded the car.“Who the fuck are you?” one barked at the tall man stepping out of the passenger seat.Lucien. Dressed in black, coat billowing, no smile.“I’m Adrien’s family,” he said calmly. “I’m taking him home.”“No one leaves unless Luca says so,” another guard warned.“I’m not here for permission.”I stepped into the courtyard. The moment Lucien saw me, something in his eyes br

CHAPTER 81LUCAThey dragged him in like a sack of meat. The warehouse was silent, save for the harsh sound of boots on concrete and the distant clatter of metal. I stood near the center, gloves already on, sleeves rolled up. Matteo gave me a nod as the two men shoved the bastard onto the chair. He hit the backrest hard and groaned, his lip already split, nose leaking blood."Luca," the guard said, breathing hard, "We caught him two blocks from our perimeter. Trying to make a call."I stepped forward slowly. The overhead light cast shadows across the man's bruised face. He looked familiar. I crouched, grabbing his chin and tilting it up."Jules." His name rolled off my tongue like venom. "Damian's errand boy. I should've known he'd send you eventually."Jules spat blood at my feet."You think this will stop him? You're too late."I stood. Smiled. "We'll see."I motioned to Matteo. He tossed me a short crowbar. Not elegant, but effective."Tell me something, Jules," I said, pacing slow

CHAPTER 80ADRIEN Luca was holding my hand.He looked… peaceful.“I don’t hate you,” he whispered. My chest tightened. “Then why do you keep breaking me?”His lips parted. “Because I don’t know how to love what I can’t control.”And just like that, everything blurred. The hand. His voice. The room dissolved into light and noise—I jolted awake. My breath was ragged. I was sweating, teeth clenched, my fingers twisted tightly in the bedsheets. My other hand?Still reaching out for someone who wasn’t there.“Fuck,” I hissed, sitting up, shoving the sheets off me like they were suffocating me. I scrubbed a hand over my face, willing the dream away.It was just a dream.Just a dream. So why did it leave me feeling like my heart had been gutted?I got up. Pacing helped. One step. Then another. I opened my drawer, pulled out my phone from its hiding place, still under the torn shirt I never fixed.I stared at the screen.Lucien’s number. I tapped his name. My thumb hovered over the call bu

CHAPTER 79LUCA“Adrien collapsed,” Matteo said the moment he walked in, not even bothering to knock.I didn’t look up from the table. “And?”“He had a fever. He threw up. Nearly fell down the stairs.”My fingers continued to trace the edge of the blueprints spread across the table—Damian’s southern warehouse in Cartagena. The weak spot was the north gate. I circled it.“He didn’t want help,” Matteo added.“Then don’t give it to him.”“You’re serious?”I finally glanced up. “Matteo, unless Adrien is dying, it’s not my concern. I have bigger problems.”He stared at me like I was someone else. Maybe I was. Maybe I’d finally become the man this world needed me to be. “You know what he’s been through.”“Yeah,” I said coldly, “and so has every fucking soldier here. We don’t have time for weakness. Not now.”The silence between us stretched. He didn’t push again, which told me he understood I wasn’t budging. He turned and left without another word.I looked back down at the blueprints. Sout

CHAPTER 78ADRIENI curled deeper into the bed, my body burning one moment and freezing the next. The sheets clung to my sweat-drenched skin like a second prison, and my head throbbed with every heartbeat. I couldn’t tell if it was night or day anymore.I pressed my palm against my forehead. Still hot. Still shaking. Still not dying. The trash bin beside my bed was half full of tissue, and I’d already thrown up twice — but I made sure to muffle the sounds. I didn’t want anyone hearing. I didn’t want anyone coming.I didn’t want… Luca.My chest tightened. A cough ripped through me, dry and brutal, like my lungs were clawing out from the inside.I groaned quietly and turned on my side, trying to breathe through my nose, but it was useless. It felt like drowning on dry land. I shut my eyes, wishing the ache would go away.No one knocked.Good.They probably forgot I was even here. Or worse — they remembered and didn’t care.I blinked through the dizzy haze and stared at the door.Maybe I

  • Claimed By The Mafia Boss   CHAPTER 77

CHAPTER 77LUCA"I want eyes on Damian's convoy by tomorrow night. Every route, every decoy, every guard rotation. No mistakes."My voice echoed through the warehouse, sharp and cutting. A map of the Southern ports was spread across the table in front of me, red markers scattered like blood droplets. Matteo stood to my left, flipping through logistics files. Damon leaned back against a crate of rifles, arms crossed, his face unreadable."We already have a guy inside the Laurents security arm," Matteo said. "He can leak us the movements, but it comes at a price.""How much?" I asked."Fifty grand. Upfront.""Send it," I snapped. "No delay."Damon raised a brow. "He better be clean. One slip and we’re exposed."I met his eyes. "Then make sure he doesn’t slip."I wasn’t playing games anymore. Damian had crossed the line too many times. The girl trafficking op he tried to smuggle through Spain? That was enough for me to move without hesitation. Adrien had said he wanted to go. He wanted b
