Rebecca cried out as the tape left her lips as a painful peel. It was like they were on fire. Diego was standing tall before her now, serpentine green eyes glaring at her. Rebecca wasn't sure she'd seen a real human being with green eyes before. "Your turn," he said.
As much as she had wanted to scream out, she managed in a soft whisper, "four days? It's been four days?"
"Yes, love. Four days and counting," Diego said with that arrogant smug on his face again. "Now, I take it that we're on board with my little lecture?"
Someone pounced on the door, well it seemed it was his attempt for a knock. They both turned to face the door. Then a man entered, "Sir, Marco is back with news. I just hope he came alone and hadn't been followed. He's badly hurt and has been taken in--"
Diego gave what Rebecca picked like a signal and the man shut up immediately, gave a low bow and went out. Rebecca wondered how much had been true. Of course she was in a dangerous zone and knew just how, well, dangerous it could be around here. She swallowed, "who-what's going on?"
"Nothing, love. Stay put, unless you want me to put this tape back on." He said, calmly. It was even more annoying as he spoke to her like she was really a poor stupid deer.
"Wait!" She yelled out. Lucky for her, Diego stopped. When he turned, thick brows furrowed as he glanced at her. "I..." Rebecca swallowed. She knew she had to be smart now. "I'm ready to cooperate. I swear! I just...I don't want to die."
She hoped whatever expression on her face resembled fear, it should be enough to gain his pity. Diego Gonzalez showing pity? She smiled bitterly and shook her head. "You know what? Just leave me alone."
When her eyes met with his again, for a split second, it seemed like her plan had work after all. Diego winced, almost like he didn't want her to die. "All you have to do is stay put, love, and you might just be fine." He turned and left.
Rebecca could not just sit and wait till...till she was killed? He called her "love" but it was probably because he would enjoy punishing her for whatever crimes her father had done.
No, he was lying. Her father would never...! What would he be doing with a Gonzalez!
Muffled conversations was heard from outside. She realized the door hadn't been shut tight. Rebecca jumped to her feet, limping towards the door. It opened with a slight push. The passage way was clear. Before she left, there was an umbrella with a pointy handle Rebecca had taken. Pointy enough to jab at someone's throat.
With one careful step after the other, she was down in the wide living room, this time with no one around. The Gonzalez man was probably dealing with a crises which gives her perfect time to bolt. She managed to dodge two guards until she arrived at the entrance, then ran with all of her strength.
Suddenly, a voice roared. "Hey, stop right there!" The cocking of a gun was what made her nearly jump out of her skin, but Rebecca was not going to stop now.
Her breath quickened as she continued to run. Heavy footsteps followed from behind. Outside, she located two entrances but lit up with an exhilarating excitement when she found an elevator. That would just lead her...outside! Then she could run to the police, run anywhere.
Something jabbed at her barefeet, maybe stone? It didn't stop her though.
"Stop right there!"
She did not listen. Her thumb stabbed the elevator button until it dinged, and then...it opened. When it shut back, Rebecca crashed to the ground, thanking her star. All the pain came rushing back, from her stomach to her feet. She made sure it was the last floor she was heading to.
It finally opened and it was a nice wide building she found herself in. It was like a company with people moving around. Eyes paused to stare at her. She was barefooted, dressed in a plain gown and maybe still bleeding. Tears welled her eyes as she tried to locate the way out.
"Miss...are you okay?" A lady stopped by her side to ask. Her eyes held concerns that made Rebecca's eyes teary again.
Before she opened her mouth to speak, a voice said from behind. "Oh she's fine, she's one of my maids. New one. She must have been startled, that's all."
Diego was right behind her. She could never miss that voice. He appeared right beside her. Rebecca's lips opened to speak but a poke at her side stopped her. Diego had pointed a gun to her stomach. He turned to smile at her. "Isn't that right, maid?"
More tears streamed down her eyes. "Please, I just--"
Diego pulled her closer, reminding her he still had the gun close to her. The lady gave an awkward stare and left. Rebecca felt a stabbing pain in her chest. What could she do now? She'd never heard any Gonzalez arrested before. The whole city worships the mafia clans and even fears them.
A short man came alone with two heft men behind. He observed, watching carefully. He didn't say anything but made it obvious he was looking.
Diego had this worried look in his eyes. "See what you've caused? You've exposed us. Just get back up before you get us both killed!"
Rebecca was still muttering curses inside. How could he have found her! "If you had just let me leave in the first place--"
"Let you leave? When will it dawn on you that you're one of my maids now, nothing but a prisoner. And if you don't cooperate..." He shook his head, "tsk tsk tsk. Your father is dead, but at least won't you want to ever find your mother again?" His voice was in that chilly low tone again.
Rebecca's heart skipped at bit at the mention of her mother. "No, she died when she had me."
Diego smiled, his mouth opened to speak but he suddenly made an attempt like he wanted to hug her, before Rebecca could dare to struggle free from his embrace, a painful groan escaped from him.
He tapped his ear, "I've been shot. Cover us, get her up safely!"
Some men were running towards them now. It slowly began to make sense to Rebecca now.
This mad lunatic kidnapper had just taken a bullet for her??
“What kind of game could he be playing at?” –Diego stormed through the living room, his entire body thrashed forward like a tornado that had lost control of itself. He couldn't stop the rage that flowed through his veins neither could he stop his feet as they kept leading him to the dining room where Chase was reportedly lounging. "Brother--"Chase said the moment his eyes caught Diego's frame but Diego cut him off sharply with a strong punch to the jaw. Crashing to the ground, Chase tasted blood in his mouth and spat it out. His jaw ached terribly, almost like it was dislocated. "What exactly are you playing at, Chase?" Diego questioned, fuming with rage. "What do you want with her?"Chase's mouth twitched into a smile as he rose himself off the ground. Dusting his body, he looked lazily up at his brother. "Is that why you hit me? Because I went to say hi to an old friend of mine?" "An old friend..." Diego muttered with a disgusted laugh. "Don't be silly, Chase. You and I both
“He's getting too close to the truth, there's no escaping him now.”–Rebecca kept thinking back at her encounter with Chase, something felt so... Off about him. He almost didn't believe her when she denied Diego as the father of her child. What was he up to?"Why aren't you eating your food?" Helen's voice cut through her train of thoughts. Rebecca looked up and blinked, for a second there, she had completely forgotten that she was sitting at the dining table. She shook her head. "It's nothing.""Let's hope it is." Helen voiced a reply. There wasn't a single sign of concern in her tone. "Why did you come home later than usual today? Did you go out after work?""I went to pick up Timothee from school." Rebecca responded in a bright tone. "He goes to school now?" Helen questioned, her perfectly shaped and skin brow arched as she asked. Rebecca nodded enthusiastically. For a moment there, she had hoped her aunt would share the joy that she felt at the fact that her little child was
“Would he truly think such vile things of me? Why do I doubt it so much?” –Rebecca picked up her phone as it started ringing, she had immersed herself in work just to get all other thoughts out of her mind. Staring at the number, she couldn't recognize it. But as a business woman, she slid it to the answer button and pressed it to her ear. "Hello?""My oldest friend, long time no see." A familiar masculine voice said from the other end of the phone. "Uhm..." Rebecca was confused. It felt so familiar yet so distant at the same time. She couldn't quite put her finger on it but she was very sure that she knew who was speaking to her. "I'm... Sorry but I don't know who I am speaking to. This number isn't saved on my phone.""Ah... Forgotten me so soon. I'll pretend like I'm not offended." The voice was getting even more and more familiar. She managed to put a name to it the same moment the caller uttered his name. "Chase." A smile played on her face. "Chase! It has been a while in
“He's the strongest man I've ever met and now he's willing to shift the entire world for me.”–Rebecca managed to get home that morning feeling tired and restless. She didn't want to leave, her entire body yearned for a few more moments next to him, but she knew that if she gave in to those feelings, she would never be able to leave. So she left instead, no words left behind. Hopefully no regrets too. But that part was a lie, she regretted it every step of the way. Vincenzo's words trailed back into her mind as she flopped against her bed. "You can't keep doing this, not to yourself or to Don Diego." He had said in a very firm voice. "You're hurting, you both are. You need to fix this. You can't survive without each other, your son needs the both of you at this point of his life."She wanted to hush him up, to tell him never to mention her son in their conversation again. But she knew he was right. Timothee needed them. He needed not just her but his father too. He didn't make it
“Will I be too greedy to pull her to my side during this terrible time?” –Diego woke up to the sound of his phone blaring. A soft groan escaped his lips as he turned towards the bed side table and reached for his phone. It was a reminder for something he had to do that morning. Turning it off, he allowed his eyes to fall shut as he turned around in bed, his hand reaching for the woman who had slept peacefully next to him. His forehead creased softly with confusion as he realized he was alone in bed. His eyes grew open, alert and clear. "She's... Gone?" He muttered to himself as he looked around the room. Indeed, she was gone. Without a trace even. He picked up his phone to check the time. Surprise flickered across his eyes as he noticed it was only a little after six. The door to the underground room opened after a soft knock and he wondered if it was her until Vincenzo entered the room with a look of something that resembled sadness or concern. "Good morning boss." His voice
“How much I've craved your touch…”–Rebecca leaned into his touch, feeling the warm sensation that spread through her body sober her up. Her tears ran freely down her cheeks and her body dangerously and painfully ached for his touch. She hadn't had it easy for the past three years, everything she had had to deal with during that period rushed back to her all at once and she couldn't stop the free flow of tears from falling. Her eyes fell close for a moment, savouring his touch for as long as she could. When her eyes opened, she realized he had been staring at her in silence, watching her, probably regretting hurting her like that. The words dropped from her lips before she even realized it. "I love you, Diego." Diego's eyes sparked with surprise, he didn't believe those words that fell from her lips. He couldn't stop himself as he leaned in and cupped her lips in a deep and hungry kiss. Rebecca's body pulsed with life as their lips connected. He sucked on her lips like he want
“This desire will be the death of me!”_Rebecca wondered if that was how her life was meant to end. Being killed for something she didn't even dream about doing. His hold around her neck tightened and she could feel the air seizing from her lungs. She couldn't even speak now if she wanted to. Sh
A dominant man and persistent man fills the head with unholy thoughts._Rebecca tugged at the hem of the dress and tried to adjust the spaghetti arm that dug too tightly into her skin. She scrunched her face, there was no hope for such a dress. Most of her breasts were exposed and the fabric outl
I'll serve you, but you'll wish I didn't. _Diego was out of bed before his alarm went off. He went into his bathroom to freshen up. He cursed underneath his breath as he remembered that he was meant to stay away from baths. He wiped his face and neck and other body parts with a wet towel before
