"Chase felt safe... but safe can be a lie."

"Relax, it was just a scratch," Diego said as everyone surrounded him. The agony in his voice did nothing to make it seem like just a scratch. He was bleeding by the time they had managed to reach up again. She didn't even know where with blood soaking his shirt. She hoped it wasn't from his chest!

"Take her back to her room." He gave an order. Rebecca didn't want to just sit there again.

"Please, I can--"

"Get her out of here now!" His groan increased as be yelled out. Two men escorted her back, well, to her fucking prison. This time, the door was shut tight.

Rebecca began pacing around the room. She hated waiting. There had to be something she could do! Anything at all than being stuck in here.

Her hands were shaking, head banging. "There has to be something..." The only way she would be let out of this little prison was if she brought value to the gang. She had to be worth something!

She still couldn't believe he took a bullet for her. This made her calm down as she jumped on the bed. She sat leaning back and hugging her knees.

Her mother died years ago. What did he mean she was alive? At this rate, her head would explode from all this mysteries!

She got up again, advancing towards the door. Maybe it would open if she...

The door opened before she could even reach.  Standing before her was the same tall handsome doctor. Chase had a lean athletic body, with his buttons down with sleeves rolled up, Rebecca couldn't help but stare. Her eyes met with his, those blue-green calm observing eyes, and she flinched.

Chase' smile dimmed as he met her at the entrance. "Plotting another escape, miss Summers?"

Rebecca gritted her teeth, suddenly the anger filling her up again. She found her knuckles hardening in a tight fist. "You were the newly hired family doctor! How come you were working with the Gonzalez? Why? Did my father even know before you killed him! Wait, did you make this disguise so you could kill him!"

"Miss Summers!" That strong tone seemed to work, keeping her quiet. He sighed, then went to sit on the bed, crossing his legs in an elegant manner. He always held himself high like everyone else were rag, while he were a god. Almost behaved the way Diego did too.

"My name is Chase." He said, not looking at her. Then his gaze met hers. Again. "Chase Gonzalez." He tilted his head slightly, "though I like to go by my mother's last name, Smith. But there you have it."

Rebecca didn't realize but her mouth had been left open as she stared in shock. She swallowed, heaving in deep breaths. "You are a Gonzalez." It didn't make sense to her.

"Your father knew about this before he died."

"Why did you kill him?"

"Miss Summers, your father and the Gonzalez used to be partners. He would fetch us information, we offered protection. Whether you chose to believe or not."

"Diego said he betrayed him."

Chase stretched his hand towards the bed, gesturing she should have her seat. She ignored. "You might be here a while, and I do not have all your answers. But I want no harm to come your way. We will have this session some other time. You need to eat well, sleep well. Your wound needs--"

"--if you have no answers, please get out." Rebecca's blood was boiling. She could feel the pain all over again. Her father telling her to hide...could he really have known they were the Gonzalez and still worked for them??

"Very well. But I'll see to it you have at least one bite before I leave." He said, not taking his eyes off her.

Rebecca's brow arched. "One bite of what?" She demanded impatiently. Just at the thought of it, her stomach grumbled. She was hungry, tired, thirsty too. This gave Chase another reason to smile again.

He clapped once, letting three people in. The first one had a long tray of various dishes arranged neatly on it, the other came with drinks from wine to water, the last had different slices of cake lined beside each other, gasnished with some berries.

Rebecca found herself licking her mouth, her stomach grumbled loudly again. She felt her cheeks burning. She was still angry, but fuck, Chase really knew what she wanted.

The rest left the room except for Chase. "Now, eat something. I knew you loved cake but didn't know which type. I recall you enjoyed lamp stew, you had a thing for lasagna as well, your father said a lot about you."

It felt like she had no other choice. She didn't even want to fight it again. The first scoop was a big one with her stuffing lasagna in her mouth. The mixed pleasure satisfied all the nerves in her. She didn't even mind Chase was watching her. If it was anything at all, she was glad he was still around.

She filled her mouth with nearly everything on the trays, drank the wine and feared she wouldn't have space for the desert. When they came back to clear the trays, she made them leave that of deserts and held on to the remaining wine in the bottle.

"Now," Chase said. He had been quiet all these while she almost forgot he was still around. "You need to take these, take out the tiny white pills if you don't want to drown in sleep. The rest are pain relief and multivitamin."

She nodded, then did as he'd said. She didn't want to be given a sleeping medicine, so she ignored the last one. He nodded to himself and nudged her a satisfied smile. "I'll leave you to rest now."

The door had not even shut before Rebecca started to feel dizzy. He said there weren't any sleeping tablets in....there...

She crashed on the bed and slept off.

Chase came back to check on her, "sleep tight, miss Summers." He tucked her in gently, pulling the blanket to cover her nicely. The light switch was turned off and he adjusted the room's temperature before leaving.

"How is she?" Diego asked as soon as Chase stepped inside. He sat on the chair opposite to his brother and crossed his leg.

"Sleeping. I adjusted a reasonable amount of sleeping pill in her wine."

"You drugged her, typical Chase."

"Be careful, you don't know if I've slightly adjusted your tea, now."

Diego gave the tea beside him a soured look, then pushed it forward, away from him. "Now is not time to sleep, Chase. We have real issues at hand."

"Is it from Marco? How is he now?"

"Luca called." Just the mention of him made Chase sat upright, his eyes widening. "We have less than a week before..." Diego didn't need to finish. "Less than a week now, Chase!"

"Damn it, so we're screwed?"

“What kind of game could he be playing at?” –Diego stormed through the living room, his entire body thrashed forward like a tornado that had lost control of itself. He couldn't stop the rage that flowed through his veins neither could he stop his feet as they kept leading him to the dining room where Chase was reportedly lounging. "Brother--"Chase said the moment his eyes caught Diego's frame but Diego cut him off sharply with a strong punch to the jaw. Crashing to the ground, Chase tasted blood in his mouth and spat it out. His jaw ached terribly, almost like it was dislocated. "What exactly are you playing at, Chase?" Diego questioned, fuming with rage. "What do you want with her?"Chase's mouth twitched into a smile as he rose himself off the ground. Dusting his body, he looked lazily up at his brother. "Is that why you hit me? Because I went to say hi to an old friend of mine?" "An old friend..." Diego muttered with a disgusted laugh. "Don't be silly, Chase. You and I both

“He's getting too close to the truth, there's no escaping him now.”–Rebecca kept thinking back at her encounter with Chase, something felt so... Off about him. He almost didn't believe her when she denied Diego as the father of her child. What was he up to?"Why aren't you eating your food?" Helen's voice cut through her train of thoughts. Rebecca looked up and blinked, for a second there, she had completely forgotten that she was sitting at the dining table. She shook her head. "It's nothing.""Let's hope it is." Helen voiced a reply. There wasn't a single sign of concern in her tone. "Why did you come home later than usual today? Did you go out after work?""I went to pick up Timothee from school." Rebecca responded in a bright tone. "He goes to school now?" Helen questioned, her perfectly shaped and skin brow arched as she asked. Rebecca nodded enthusiastically. For a moment there, she had hoped her aunt would share the joy that she felt at the fact that her little child was

“Would he truly think such vile things of me? Why do I doubt it so much?” –Rebecca picked up her phone as it started ringing, she had immersed herself in work just to get all other thoughts out of her mind. Staring at the number, she couldn't recognize it. But as a business woman, she slid it to the answer button and pressed it to her ear. "Hello?""My oldest friend, long time no see." A familiar masculine voice said from the other end of the phone. "Uhm..." Rebecca was confused. It felt so familiar yet so distant at the same time. She couldn't quite put her finger on it but she was very sure that she knew who was speaking to her. "I'm... Sorry but I don't know who I am speaking to. This number isn't saved on my phone.""Ah... Forgotten me so soon. I'll pretend like I'm not offended." The voice was getting even more and more familiar. She managed to put a name to it the same moment the caller uttered his name. "Chase." A smile played on her face. "Chase! It has been a while in

“He's the strongest man I've ever met and now he's willing to shift the entire world for me.”–Rebecca managed to get home that morning feeling tired and restless. She didn't want to leave, her entire body yearned for a few more moments next to him, but she knew that if she gave in to those feelings, she would never be able to leave. So she left instead, no words left behind. Hopefully no regrets too. But that part was a lie, she regretted it every step of the way. Vincenzo's words trailed back into her mind as she flopped against her bed. "You can't keep doing this, not to yourself or to Don Diego." He had said in a very firm voice. "You're hurting, you both are. You need to fix this. You can't survive without each other, your son needs the both of you at this point of his life."She wanted to hush him up, to tell him never to mention her son in their conversation again. But she knew he was right. Timothee needed them. He needed not just her but his father too. He didn't make it

  • Claimed By The Mafia Brothers    Thinking about her

“Will I be too greedy to pull her to my side during this terrible time?” –Diego woke up to the sound of his phone blaring. A soft groan escaped his lips as he turned towards the bed side table and reached for his phone. It was a reminder for something he had to do that morning. Turning it off, he allowed his eyes to fall shut as he turned around in bed, his hand reaching for the woman who had slept peacefully next to him. His forehead creased softly with confusion as he realized he was alone in bed. His eyes grew open, alert and clear. "She's... Gone?" He muttered to himself as he looked around the room. Indeed, she was gone. Without a trace even. He picked up his phone to check the time. Surprise flickered across his eyes as he noticed it was only a little after six. The door to the underground room opened after a soft knock and he wondered if it was her until Vincenzo entered the room with a look of something that resembled sadness or concern. "Good morning boss." His voice

“How much I've craved your touch…”–Rebecca leaned into his touch, feeling the warm sensation that spread through her body sober her up. Her tears ran freely down her cheeks and her body dangerously and painfully ached for his touch. She hadn't had it easy for the past three years, everything she had had to deal with during that period rushed back to her all at once and she couldn't stop the free flow of tears from falling. Her eyes fell close for a moment, savouring his touch for as long as she could. When her eyes opened, she realized he had been staring at her in silence, watching her, probably regretting hurting her like that. The words dropped from her lips before she even realized it. "I love you, Diego." Diego's eyes sparked with surprise, he didn't believe those words that fell from her lips. He couldn't stop himself as he leaned in and cupped her lips in a deep and hungry kiss. Rebecca's body pulsed with life as their lips connected. He sucked on her lips like he want
