Chapter 1

1. Abducted

“The night my world burned, he didn’t save me. He claimed me.”

-

She tried so hard not to make any sound. But with the building on fire, and a gun pressed to your father's head while you hid in the wardrobe, there didn't seem like much one could do.

It had happened so fast. Rebecca was still having this little fight with her father, Raymond, when the intruders entered.

"Hide, mi corazon, and do not make any sound!" He had said repeatedly while he shoved her in the wardrobe.

The conversation had led to these intruders heading out so Rebecca couldn't hear much of what was happening. But after a while, a cruel voice thundered.

"You have brought this on yourself, Raymond. Now you perish along with your entire household."

And then, a gun was fired.

Rebecca jumped up with a start. She was breathing so heavily, trickles of sweat around her face.

"I thought you'd never wake up."

That voice...

She sat up straight, ready to launch her attack. There was a pocket knife her father had left with her to defend herself, only, as Rebecca searched herself to bring it out, she realized she'd been completely naked!

Her cheeks colored as she wrapped the blanket around her more tight. "You!" She spat out with demise. "Who are--"

Did she need to ask? This man, sitting straight and sound on the chair facing her was the same monster who had shot her father.

"...so, it wasn't a dream?" She found herself asking.

He had dark hair with a cold expression on his face. A cigarette was sitted in his mouth but he hadn't lit it. There was an air of horror as he watched her, like he was from hell. Was she dead? That would explain him being the devil.

He was all suited up, Rebecca paused, watching him with a shocking glance. He was handsome, which made it all strange to her. Why would she even care about that right now?

"You killed him, you killed my father!" The bedsheet let lose, exposing one side of Rebecca's breast. She quickly remembered she was naked and hugged the blanked again. Cold air tingled on her exposed skin for a while before the blanket reached to cover.

"I was told you'd be up a long while ago, anyway," he sighed and cleared his throat. As much as he didn't make any attempt to shout, his bold voice did thundered. Just like she remembered it earlier..."You are sound and alive. Put those on and meet me outside."

He got up to his feet. Rebecca found this man tall, this...murderer!

"Why did you kill him? Who the hell are you!" She was shivering now. It wasn't easy standing up to this monster. He did not even flinch, yet he had just killed a man right in her presence.

"The question is why are you not dead yet, don't you think?" The man asked.

As much as her heart was beating heavily, Rebecca managed get up to her feet, hugging the blanket so firm to herself. Her lips open to speak, then the agonizing pain pierced to her side that she feared she would collasp. Hot tears filled her eyes when she reached to her side and found blood.

"W-what..." The courage she thought she had had faded away...all of it.

"I was assured the surgery went fine. We need to see to it your bandage is changed. Put on the clothes and meet me outside now."

It took everything in her not to run and slapped this man as he spoke so cold to her. But then, she wondered. "Why? Surgery? Why did you...what happened?" How could she have under gone a surgery and she was still left naked! What if her wound got infected or...or...maybe she was really dead.

It hurt as she tried to think back to what had happened. She was shot? Last she remembered was her hiding in the wardrobe while her father's cry for mercy filled the air.

"Do as I say, now. Otherwise, when I come back in here, you'll be dragged outside to the living room all naked. And this penthouse is quite...huge."

Penthouse?

It was when the door shut that Rebecca did realize this apartment was indeed huge. Was that even the right word? It was beautiful with all the colors blending in right, and in the center, the giant bed she'd just woken up on.

She walked, or limped,  towards the giant mirror in the corner of the room. Nothing had changed about her. Big brown eyes stared back at her, wondering what kind of hell she had woken up to. Her thick auburn hair was even still braided like it had been that morning.

She was going to accompany her father to a banquet. Traces of mascara was still visible in her eyes, and her rosebud lips was kissed with stains of black lipstick, Rebecca's signature lipstick.

"What the hell is happening!" Just the thought of it was exhausting enough for her head. Her sides burned like someone was poking her with a sharp stick. Every movement hurt.

She found the green dress on the bed he'd left for her and helped herself into it. She found it annoying as her breast jiggled in the dress, she was completely naked, even down there. What the hell is going on right now?

"What does he wants with me..." It was painful just thinking about everything! Was her father really dead? No, maybe...maybe he was waiting for her. This idiot could have been a bodyguard.

"Yes!" She smiled, though it came out as a wince as that sharp pain tugged at her sides again. She moved, making her way out.

The moment the door opened, Rebecca found herself standing in a long passage way with rooms lined up opposite to each other. There was a long fancy stairway just at the end. So she made her way there. Two hefty men with intimidating stares glanced at her, but they didn't do anything.

She limped until she was standing on the last stairs. A wide lovely living room appeared before her. It was neat and well organized. Maybe you couldn't even tell it belonged to a murderer.

"No, he's a bodyguard..." She thought to herself. Three tall men advanced forward to meet her.

Rebecca wanted to run, but where to? Besides, her sides still ached as hell. "Where's your leader? He asked me to..." She kept quiet and tried to rephrase her statement. Her eyes shone when she saw each of these men with guns right by their sides.

"Miss Summers, you're awake. That's good to hear." Said a voice from behind. The men stepped aside for a tall well built man to come forward. He held that soft smile like he always did, not hiding the care and compassion he held for her. Standing before her was none other than her family's doctor, Chase Brown.

As Rebecca saw him, a soft gasp escaped her lips. "Dr. Chase? What are you...what are you doing here!"
