Olivia winced before letting out a sigh as Jenny stabbed at her eyelid for what felt like the umpteenth time. “Sorry! But I told you to stay still and you are just squirming around,” Jenny called out and Olivia couldn’t figure out if she had just apologized or put the blame on her, the victim.“Jenny, I told you I would do my makeup myself, didn’t I?” Olivia pouted, while keeping her eyes shut.“You did. But do I care? Hell no! Now stay silent and let me finish my masterpiece!” Jenny declared. Olivia felt her brows raise on their own accord on hearing her friend. “Well, where exactly are we going?” she asked suspiciously. It has been a while since Jenny started painting her face, aka doing her makeup. Come to think of it, Jenny was a nerdy-looking girl with a hefty dose of clumsiness. Did she even know how to do makeup, or was she just playing around? Oh well, she could always just wash it off if she ended up being a clown. What’s the harm in letting the poor girl have some fun
“You are a wolf, for God’s sake. You can handle a teeny tiny jump without even batting an eyelid,” Jenny declared, hands on her hips. She was now wearing a short red dress that clung to her frame. With high heels adding to her height, she was no longer looking like a schoolgirl. Her pretty blue eyes were dramatically lined with black eyeliner, making them look huge. But right now, those eyes were narrowed at Olivia, frustration evident in them.Olivia raised her brows at Jenny in return.“We are talking about jumping from the third floor of a building here, not a teeny tiny jump, as you call it. If I land wrong, I will break my neck and there is no healing from it, wolf or not,” Olivia pointed out.“Who asked you to jump and break your neck?” Jenny asked, with a mischievous look in her eyes. “This is not the first time I am having a nighttime adventure like this and, as you can see, I am still in one piece. I know what I am doing.”“Huh?” Olivia asked, her mind blanking at the insinua
Olivia made her way down the tree, while listening to see if there were any other guards coming in that direction."The next round won't be until ten minutes later. We should be out by then," Jenny informed her, seeing her tense posture. Olivia nodded in response, but still, she watched everything with way more alertness than before. The strange encounter with George had made her uneasy and she couldn't wait to get out of the compound. She wanted to get it all out of her mind, even if it was for one night.Once they were close to the gates, Olivia looked at Jenny with a new question in her mind."Now, how are we going through the gates? Surely there must be guards there and we can't just scroll past them. What's the plan?""Who said we are going through the gates?" Jenny asked with a mischievous smile, and Olivia blinked. How were they going out if not through the gates? She certainly didn't remember any other way out.As Jenny winked and turned away from the path before walking towar
Olivia looked around, unable to believe how just a moment ago she was standing in an alley. And in the next moment, it was as if she was transported to an entirely different world. In stark contrast to the silence of the alley, loud music blared in the club as people milled around, enjoying themselves in the decadent hall. Strobe lights flashed through the entire area and her eyes fell on the dance floor where people, single as well as couples, swayed around merrily. Working as a waitress in a nightclub for years, this scenario was as familiar to her as breathing. But for the first time, she was there as a customer and not a waitress who has to smile and deal with clumsy drunken men and their leers. As Jenny pulled her towards the bar, Olivia snapped out of her daze. She looked down and noticed how they were dressed exactly like the others, fitting in easily. Now that she thought of it, it seemed obvious; the dress, the makeup, it all should have clued her in on their destination. But
Olivia ran out of the club, into the dark alley and, seeing how there was not a soul in sight, she wondered if she had made a mistake by running out of the crowded club. Maybe she would have been safe in the presence of all those people? Maybe she should have informed Jenny and made her call for help? But then she knew the rogues were far too gone to care for a few measly humans and they would have gladly exposed the secret of the existence of werewolves to all those humans if it meant getting her. Staying behind was not an option. As she ran, she tossed off the high heels slowing her down. As her feet pounded on the alley, squashing things she was better off not knowing, she could feel the rogues gaining on her. Damn it, not again! Even though it felt as if it was a lifetime ago that she had run like this away from men hell bound on claiming her, but it was just a week ago. And here she was again, running for her life. What did the universe have against her?!She turned back to see t
A man emerged from the darkness and, as the light illuminated his silhouette, it appeared as if he was surrounded by a golden glow. It almost looked as if he was an angel with a halo around him, but Olivia knew he was far from an angel. And as his sharp features came visible, her thought was proved right. He stood with his feet apart, his hands clenched in fists at his side, and his entire stance screamed aggression. His thin pink lips were set in a hard frown as he stared at the men. His black hair was messy and though it looked gorgeous, she had a feeling that it was not deliberately styled that way, but he had run his fingers over it several times to ease his frustration. And his mesmerizing blue eyes were blazing furiously as he glared with murderous intention. For a moment, Olivia was grateful that she was not at the receiving end of that deadly gaze. At least for now.As Alpha Tyson Adams stalked towards his prey, Olivia felt Sia calm down in her mind and simultaneously, the pow
Just that moment, Tyson held two rogue men in each arm, snapping their necks simultaneously. But he staggered backwards after pushing off the bodies from himself and Olivia saw him kneeling on the ground. Her heart skipped a beat as she watched the agony that crossed his face. She couldn’t help but feel responsible for his predicament and she wished if she could have stopped this all from happening. But she couldn’t. She could only stop him from getting hurt anymore and face the enemies along with him. And she would do just that. With determination, she walked towards him and crouched in front of him, holding her hand out. Tyson looked up at her, his eyes looking duller than usual. He looked confused for a moment, but when he saw her determined expression, realization dawned on him. He seemed to hesitate for a moment, probably wanting to keep her safe and away from the fight. But when he saw the fire in her eyes, his own eyes shone brighter in response. Calmly, he held her outstretche
Just a few days ago, Olivia had wanted to escape, to run away from her mate and the life she saw as an imprisonment. She had planned to wait for the right time and sneak out when he was least expecting it. But seeing him lie there lifelessly, she suddenly couldn’t imagine a life without him in it. How could he just die like that? How could he leave her alone, just like that? Just how?Memories of their time together flashed through her mind as tears flew down her cheeks like a waterfall. Their fights, their kisses, their love making… It was just a few days yet it felt like a lifetime, as if he was always there in her life. She couldn’t believe he was gone, just like that!Maybe they would have kept on fighting forever. But maybe they would have loved each other some day, had children and grown old together. And now she would never know because he never got the chance. The ruthless Alpha who claimed her was gone...As she held his head in her lap, Olivia felt grief and regret threateni
