CHAPTER 4: THE ALPHA

Olivia looked at the majestic black wolf in a daze as he growled at the men. The large roguish men took a step backwards collectively at the fierce growl and Olivia wanted to do the same, but her feet were rooted to the spot. As the wolf stalked towards the men menacingly, one of her pursuers in wolf form turned tail and ran away from the alley. Good riddance!

The remaining men looked torn as they looked back and forth between the wolf and Olivia before they exchanged glances. Then they forced themselves to take fighting stances and faced the wolf, deciding they had numbers in their favor.

Olivia was too shaken up by the sudden onslaught of heat, the strange wolf senses and the near rape that she couldn’t focus well on the wolf. But once she was snapped out of the daze, she realized that five wolves getting scared of a single one was not normal. That meant he was too powerful. Most probably he was an Alpha and with what she had heard of Alphas, he must not be trying to save her out of his goodwill. It might only mean that he had plans for her and she had a feeling that it would be like falling from fire into the frying pan. Maybe the Alpha wanted her for himself and being claimed by a domineering Alpha wouldn’t be any fun. She had to escape. Now!

Even though what she wanted to do was turn and run away like the hounds of hell were on her tail, she was too curious to see if the Alpha could hold on. Though he may be trying to claim her for himself, he had saved her from the vile men and hence she didn’t want him to die at their hands. As she looked at the fight, she could only hope that her curiosity wasn’t going to be the death of her.

The four men and the brown wolf surrounded the huge black wolf and Olivia flinched as they all leaped towards him in a synchronized move that looked choreographed. But just as they were about to hit the wolf, he shook his fur almost lazily and shook them off as if he was swatting off a few annoying flies and not grown ass werewolves. Woah!

The men stood up and eyed the black wolf warily while he focused on the brown wolf. Then he let out a snarl and jumped on the brown wolf before tearing off his throat, spraying blood all over the alley. Olivia gulped down the bile that rose in her throat and forced herself not to vomit. She wanted to stay unnoticed and let the men fight their way.

The remaining men didn’t look so sure of themselves anymore and stood as if pondering whether to fight or run. But from the determined gait of the black wolf, he was pissed off and he had no plans to let any of them escape alive. Now Olivia had no doubt the Alpha was going to win, and she knew that if she wanted to escape, it had to be now.

With her eyes still on the black wolf who was stalking over to his prey, Olivia silently walked backwards until she was out of his line of sight. Then she gathered all the strength left in her tired body and ran for her life.

Though Olivia wanted to run straight to her apartment, she didn’t want to leave a trail for the Alpha or any other wolves. Relying on the survival guides her guardian instilled in her, she took twists and turns while staying downwind. Once she was certain tracking her wouldn’t be easy anymore, she tiredly made way to her apartment. If she was fast enough and took the potion to stop her heat, hopefully they wouldn’t find her at her home...

As soon as she reached home, Olivia made a beeline towards her secret stash where she had kept the potion. She took the bottle with shaking hands and, after taking a deep breath; Olivia gulped down the potion. She was running low on the potion and with Maya no longer around to make it for her; she needed to contact Maya’s coven to refill her stash. Her heart twitched at the painful reminder that Maya, her guardian, was dead, leaving her an orphan for real. Why did she have to die so young? Why did she leave her alone to struggle by herself? If only she were here...

Olivia plopped down on her bed tiredly and waited for her heat to recede. But as minutes passed and her adrenaline from the excitement of the night faded, the effects of the heat increased rather than decreasing. Olivia’s eyes widened in alarm when she realized that she was kneading her breast with one hand while the other had made its way down her panties. She let out a moan as her finger entered her wet core and she rubbed herself, trying to find some relief from the delicious ache in her lower belly. Damn it! The heat should have stopped by now! Was she too late to drink the potion or was something different about her heat this time that she couldn’t stop it but only ride it?

Olivia threw her head back in abandon as she thrusted her fingers in and out of herself. Unbidden, an image of the blue-eyed guy she met in the club came to her mind. She couldn’t help but imagine it was his thick cock that was plunging into her instead of her own fingers. She closed her eyes and her movements became faster as she envisioned him leaning over her with a possessive look in his intense blue eyes as he fucked her. With a low groan, she reached her climax and fell back on the bed, covered in sweat and a satiated smile on her lips. That felt good!

Olivia didn’t even have time to enjoy the high of her release or think of why she had fantasied about the blue-eyed man when the heat returned more fiercely than ever. Her body was practically burning by now. Shit! She had just had a mind blowing orgasm, and it didn’t even help a bit with the heat? It was as if the universe was conspiring against her and challenging her that the heat wouldn’t recede until she found a man and lost herself to the passion. No way!

Olivia got out of the bed and stalked over to her bathroom with determination. Masturbating would not help, and she would not have sex with anyone. The only way out of this sticky situation would be to wait it out and try to make it as less painful as possible. She had been trained to face all sorts of troubles in life. She should be able to face a few days of heat, right?

As if on cue, she felt a wave of pain in her belly and she gritted her teeth before plugging the bathtub and filling it with cold water. This should help!

Olivia removed her torn jacket and threw it on the floor with a grimace before removing the rest of her clothes. Then she slowly turned to the mirror and looked at the brown-haired brown-eyed woman who was her yet a stranger at the same time.

With a sigh, she reached her hand out and removed the clips from her hair. Then she pulled the wig from her hair before shaking her head. A mass of shiny golden hair tumbled down her shoulders and reached her waist. Slowly, Olivia pulled off her glasses before removing the contacts from her eyes, revealing a pair of stunning emerald green eyes. Olivia stared at her reflection and wondered why her own reflection felt even stranger than the disguise she had donned. Long shiny golden hair, green eyes, pouty red lips and a slender body with curves at just the right places. This was the real Olivia Thomas, but she couldn’t exist in the real world because her exceptional beauty would be a dead giveaway to the supernaturals.

Olivia laid down on the bathtub and winced at the chill that invaded her body from the cold water. As she immersed herself in the water, she felt the fire in her body recede and let out a sigh of relief. She didn’t know how long she laid in the tub, but once her body began to feel numb, Olivia got out of the tub, albeit reluctantly. She wrapped a white fluffy towel around herself and padded over to her room, trying to think of what to do to distract herself from the heat now. It was just the first day, and she was already running out of ideas. How would she face the next three or four days?

“Took you long enough.”

Olivia froze when she heard a deep husky voice. She slowly looked up to see a man sitting on her bed proudly as if he owned the building and everything inside it, including her.

As she stared at him, and his scent hit her, Olivia gasped as she realized several things at once. First, he was the same blue-eyed customer whom she had been fancying while pleasuring herself just a while ago. Second, he was not a human but a werewolf; the same Alpha wolf who had saved her from the vile men. Third, he was also her fated mate. Last and the most important, he was buck naked and had absolutely no plans to cover himself! Shit! Now what?
