{Enzo POV}

The hushed sound of guests in the hall echoed through the place, followed by the soft clicking of glasses as I climbed down the stairs.

Their gazes fell in my direction. I knew exactly what they were all expecting. Ever since my father's death, all they’ve done is whisper about his will. Their curiosity about who between my stepbrother and I would get married first had become their topmost priority. Tonight, I’ve decided to silence their whispers.

"Mr. Vitale, what a pleasant surprise to have you show yourself to us," an elderly man in a grey suit stepped forward, his fake smile stretched too wide. "You must have something in store for us."

"Don’t get your hopes high, Mr. Benard. I hate too many compliments," I muttered and walked past him.

Fake compliments. I knew them very well these days. Ever since the night my father was assassinated right in front of my eyes, nothing felt real anymore. I still couldn’t clear my head of the image of the masked figure, the gloves, and the cold silence after the trigger was pulled. I’d figure out who it was. Sooner or later.

I glanced at the watch strapped to my wrist, then looked toward the staircase again. Naomi still hadn’t come down. How long does it take for a woman to dress up? Or did she somehow manage to slip past my security and escape?

The corner of my lips curled at the thought. If she did... oh, the things I would do to her.

"What makes you decide to host a meeting and show your face, Enzo?" a deep voice came from behind me.

I didn’t need to turn. I already knew who it was my stepbrother—Brian.

"You've always been behind the shadows, dreading the fact that I'll be the one to get the inheritance before you," he continued. He clicked his tongue and walked ahead, standing slightly in front of me now. "You're as cold as ice and scare any woman that comes near you. How will you get a woman now?"

He smirked, flashing those fake-perfect teeth. "You see, Becca and I will get married soon."

I stared at him, cold and still. The kind of stare that made most people stumble or look away. But Brian wasn’t like most people. He always had the nerve to meet my eyes and smile through it.

I stepped closer, my voice low. “I’m not here to play, Brian. And as for who gets the inheritance, we both know it's not just about marriage. Whoever is behind our father's death... I’ll find them. And when I do—” I paused, looking up at the stairs again. Still no sign of Naomi. My jaw clenched. “—they’ll regret ever thinking I’d sit back and do nothing.”

Brian's smirk wavered slightly. He noticed the flicker of irritation in my eyes as I looked up once more. “Who are you waiting for?” he asked, his voice more cautious now.

I turned to him, a hint of danger creeping into my smile. “Don’t be in a haste to eat hot pottage, stepbrother. You might just end up burning your mouth.”

Brian’s face twisted. “You’re just like him,” he snapped. “Heartless, cold and wicked. That’s why the inheritance isn’t fit for a man like you.”

I gave a small laugh, eyes never leaving his face. But before I could respond, my gaze caught movement on the stairs. And I looked up to see Naomi.

She walked down the stairs slowly, her eyes flicking left and right like she was searching for a place to hide. Her dark hair fell around her shoulders, and the dress she wore clung to her curves in a way that made a few men in the crowd turn to whisper.

I looked back at Brian. “Let’s see about that... dear stepbrother.”

Without another word, I walked away and made my way toward her.

Naomi’s eyes locked with mine, and she froze for half a second. Her body shivered slightly in fear. The hall shifted with murmurs and sudden interest.

“Is that Enzo Vitale with a woman?”

“Could she be his fiancée?”

“I thought Brian and Becca were supposed to marry first…”

More whispers rose around us, people trying to piece it all together.

I ignored them.

Stretching out my hand to her, I saw her hesitate. Her eyes looked at me like I was the villain in some horror movie, and she’d just walked onto the wrong set. But when her gaze met mine, she knew she didn’t have a choice.

She placed her hand in mine and I leaned in, lips brushing close to her ear. “Don’t you dare try to give anyone a hint that you’re being forced to do this,” I said, my voice quiet and sharp. “Unless you’ve got a hundred million to hand me after tonight.”

She hesitated, her lips twitching in fear, then forced a smile as she met my eyes again.

I nodded slightly and turned with her hand still in mine. Together, we walked to the center of the hall. Every eye was on us now.

I looked at her once more, then faced the crowd. “This,” I said, voice calm and steady, “is Naomi. My fiancée.”

Gasps, murmurs, and even a few clinks of dropped glasses followed.

“And our wedding... will be held tomorrow.”

The room fell completely silent. Even Brian’s jaw went slack, and his eyes blazed with a mix of shock and rage.

After a long moment of stunned silence, I added, “That’s the reason for this gathering. You’re all invited to the wedding tomorrow.”

More murmurs erupted, but I didn’t care. I could feel Naomi’s hand shaking slightly in mine. I tightened my grip, holding it firmly, just enough to remind her to keep smiling.

I looked back at the crowd. “Now, enjoy the party.”

With that, I turned and walked up the stairs, Naomi still beside me, our hands intertwined like we were some perfect couple.

{Naomi’s POV}I took in a deep breath as the car drove down the quiet road. The night felt too still, almost heavy, and my thoughts kept dragging me back into everything that had happened these past few months. It all felt like a blur—pain, running, blood, fear… then more fear.I stared at my hands resting on my lap. They felt cold even though the car was warm. I sat there, numb, wondering what exactly I had left to hold on to. My mom was gone. And even though the people who took her life were now gone too, none of it would ever bring her back. Justice didn’t fix the empty space she left behind. All I had now was Enzo.My hand drifted to my stomach… the small bump hiding under my dress. The tiny life growing inside me. Our baby. And fear hit me again, what kind of life would this child have? A life where guns weren’t far, where blood wasn’t something strange? A life where danger was normal because of the man I loved? My chest tightened a little.“Are you okay?” Chloe asked softly, pla

{Enzo POV}I watched as he went through the document with a smug smile. He still had the gun pressed close to Naomi’s head, and every second of it made my blood boil… but I kept my expression blank. I wasn’t ready to show my anger. Not when I already had everything planned out.“We have a deal, Brian,” I said calmly, swallowing the heat burning in my chest. “Now give me my wife and her friend.”Brian chuckled, looking at me like I was something he could sweep off the ground. “Well, I have nothing to do with her anymore.” He finally lowered the gun from Naomi’s head. The moment the metal left her skin, Naomi rushed toward me. I caught her instantly, wrapping her tightly in my arms. I kissed her forehead, feeling her tears warm against my neck.“You’re fine now, my love,” I whispered, rubbing her back slowly. “I’m here. I won’t let anyone hurt you.”“Enzo… I’m so sorry,” she muffled against my shoulder, her voice shaking.I patted her back lightly. “You did nothing wrong.”From the corn

{Enzo POV}It’s been hours since my men started searching the area desperately for Naomi, and all they kept getting was the same damn response from everyone they asked. No one had seen her.I stood with my back against the car, my eyes fixed on the quiet street. The streetlamps cast weak pools of light, leaving most of the area buried in shadow. My chest felt tight, my jaw locked in frustration.“Where are you, Naomi?” I muttered under my breath. The anger I’d been holding onto since I heard she was taken was beginning to wear off, replaced by a strange heaviness that made me feel like I couldn’t breathe.Mateo jogged toward me, his face tense and covered in sweat.“Did you find her?” I asked the moment he reached me.He lowered his gaze. “I’m sorry, boss. We’ve searched the entire area, but she’s not here. I think whoever took her went far from here.”“Okay,” I muttered, running a tired hand over my face. The exhaustion was starting to settle into my bones. “Tell the men to head back

{Naomi POV}The phone ringing on the table got her attention, and the woman walked away, bringing it close to her ear. She glanced my way briefly before turning toward the door.I took a deep breath once she left, exhaling softly as I tried to yank my hand free. The rope burned against my wrist, digging deeper with every pull. After struggling for a while, frustration began to build, and my arm throbbed in pain.“What the hell is wrong with the woman?” I cursed under my breath, wincing as the rope scraped my skin. That was when I noticed Chloe hadn’t said a word. I turned my head toward her. She sat motionless in the dim light, her eyes empty, her face pale. Her chest rose and fell slowly, and she looked weaker than before.“Are you okay, Chloe?” I asked softly. She nodded faintly and brought her knees to her chest. Her voice came out in a whisper. “Naomi… do you think Enzo will come rescue us?” She didn’t look at me, her gaze was locked somewhere far away, lost in fear.I looked down

{Enzo POV}The tires screeched against the hospital driveway as I pulled in, the smell of burnt rubber filling the air. I slammed the door shut and strode forward. A few cops stood near the entrance, talking to witnesses, jotting things down on notepads.“I think there was a woman with them,” a man with a big belly said from behind his ice cream cart. “I saw them carry her into the van.”My fists clenched so tight my knuckles turned white. I didn’t wait for him to say more. I took a step forward, but Mateo rushed up to me, his face pale and drenched in sweat. Two of my men followed close behind him, their eyes darting around nervously.“Where the hell did they take Naomi to?” I asked, my voice low but sharp, teeth gritted.“We don’t know yet,” Mateo said quickly. “According to the witnesses, they went that way.” He pointed toward a road leading away from the hospital. “Some of the men followed them, but they lost track after a few miles.”“Damn it!” I cursed under my breath and shoved

{Naomi POV}"Naomi." Chloe’s voice echoed faintly in my head as I slowly began to regain consciousness. A sharp pain pierced through my skull, making me wince as I tried to move my hand, but I couldn’t.My wrists were tightly bound together. I twisted against the rope, the rough fibers biting into my skin, but it didn’t budge. Darkness surrounded me, and for a second, I thought I had gone blind, until I realized a thick bag was still pulled over my head. Chloe’s trembling voice called out again, faint but desperate. The memories rushed back, the hospital room, Chloe comforting me, the sound of footsteps and struggle outside the door, the door bursting open, and men in black swarming us. One of them had thrown a bag over my head, and before I could scream, something hard slammed against the back of my head. Everything had gone dark after that.“Chloe… are you there?” My voice was hoarse, weak. I shook my head, trying to loosen the bag, but it was tied too tightly against my face, makin
