Silence stretched between them as they both stared at each other with raw emotions. I couldn't decipher the look in the man's eyes as he, from time to time, shifted his gaze towards me as well. I, However, could feel some of Elian's emotions. It was weird, and I don't know how that was possible, but I felt it.

I felt the struggle he was feeling. I could feel his anxiousness. Now, I understood why he had a shift in his expression when we were walking over here.

"It is not going to end well if you try going ahead with this, despite our advice. A human is not fit to be our Luna. You need a strong woman considering you have no wolf yourself."

"And why is that?" I finally asked the one question that had been bugging me. "Why is a human unfit to become a Luna?"

Elian sucked in a deep breath, tightening his hold around me. It was like he was trying to protect me because I had spoken out of turn. But I could care less. I was tired of having them talk abou

The infirmary smelled of herbs and damp cloth, the walls built from ancient stone, making it cooler than I’d expected it to be as Elian carried me inside. The building housed lots of rooms, which I assumed were similar to the hospital rooms back home. I was the only one in the room Elian took me to, the light from the flames of a fire in the fireplace made willowy shadows all across the room. And at the center of it all was a bed, better than any I had ever seen. Except for the one in our bedroom, of course. I was slowly getting used to the fact that Valentis was pretty fancy. For a place that looked…old. It could pass for something straight out of a book. Oh, right, this is a book so that makes total sense. I sighed softly, leaning more into Elian as he slowly eased me onto the bed. His body was still rigid, wound up tightly as though he was expecting something terrible to happen. So all the way here, I simply relished in the scent of him that has slow

ANISA.I came to a sudden realization the moment I turned and locked eyes with the woman standing afar off.I do not like her. Not one bit!The realization was staggering, almost like a slap to my face, just like every other feeling I had experienced since I got here.Elian stood up with a groan, and despite my ankle, I stood up with him, clasping my arm around his before resting my head on his shoulders. I mean, as his mate, I was supposed to do just that, right? And it wasn’t because I hated the way the woman was looking at him, it was purely out of the need to play my role. To fulfill my promise to him.Elian looked down at me, a swirl of emotion in his eyes I couldn’t place. Then he smiled just a little and wrapped his arm around me, drawing me deeper into his warmth and scent.A scent that was slowly becoming addictive. A touch that was going to be my undoing at some point. Perhaps, even soon.“Lacie,” he finally ac

However, instead of making my way towards the infirmary like I planned, I found myself walking towards the lake just behind my quarters."That I know. It left me with a strange feeling. So now, answer my question.""Hum?""I asked if everyone around here looks down on those who aren't werewolves.""I doubt that is the case. I don't have a wolf you know.""And I witnessed just how you were treated. Does the wolf part determine one's worth?""To some extent, yes." I replied, a sad look crossing my face. "There are lots of things I can't do now because I have no wolf. It is a miracle that I could even sense my mate.""Love shouldn't depend on that aspect though."The way she casually said the word love caused me to almost drop her. I had to remind myself that she was not referring to us, that she was simply trying to understand a situation she had found herself in.What she didn't know was that the mate bo

ELIAN.I struggled so hard to contain the raging in my heart as I took in her scent. The feel of her breath against my chest was everything and even more so, pretty much intense. If only I had marked her, then nothing, I mean, absolutely nothing would've stopped me from having her even if it were just a brief moment. Having her willingly wrap her arms around me was one thing, but having her snuggle into my embrace as though her life depended on it was another thing entirely.I stared down at the little figure in my embrace, and watched as a lock of curly hair fell to her face. Her eyes were closed, causing her long lashes to flutter close as well. The yellow dress she wore complimented her skin.'She's perfect. Everything about our mate is perfect.' The voice in my head spoke yet again. I had never experienced this. Heck, I had never heard anything like this. But for the past three days, it seemed as though a new side of me was evol

ANISA. "Relax, everything is going to be okay. I'm right here. You are right here. We are both going to be fine." Elian whispered as he squeezed my hand a bit before he pushed the large oak door open. "You don't seem to be fine, though. Is everything okay?" I whispered back, finally asking the question that had been bugging me. "You don't have to worry about me. I'm fine as long as you are here." I don't know if what he said was the truth. If we'll actually be okay simply because we had each other. It seems as though there was a shift in him after we had arrived at the pack-house yesterday, as they call it. I had noticed the change in his expression the moment he fetched me after a long relaxing bath in a wooden tub that still had me fascinated, and another bowl of soup paired with freshly baked bread and some fruits that Imani insisted I needed to take. According to her, it'll help soothe my nerves. I had a
