Ivy opened her eyes slowly and was forced to close it again. It felt like her head would split into many pieces. She groaned and tried again. Unfamiliar ceiling, she turned her head, unfamiliar curtains... 'Where am I?' She thought as she tried to pull herself up. 'Geez...' She groaned again. What was happening to her body? It's like being run over by a truck. Even tho she doesn't know how it feels to be run over by one. Her whole body aches like hell! She managed to sit up on the bed that felt too soft which made her realize she wasn't in her room. 'Where am I?' She asked herself once again and held her head. The headache was killing her. She lifted one of her legs and the moment it touched the ground...

"Fuck!!!" She exclaimed loudly. "What have I done?!" She asked herself as images from yesterday came flooding back to her.

She was in the club with her friends. They had forced her to go claiming it would make her forget. Her boyfriend of six years had told her he had fallen in love with another girl. He had thrown away six years of her life. Just like that. She had thought they were both planning a future together. She had added him to all of her plans. What made it worse was the fact that she had given him all of her life savings so that they could rent an apartment in a new housing estate that had just been completed. He had claimed they would live there after their. Wedding. What a piece of shit! She had done everything he wanted. Yet, he claimed he had fallen in love with another woman.

Her friends being the people they were, made her dress up. They were happy he was out of her life but, he had left her stranded. She was now broke. They claimed he turned her into who she wasn't. Her dressing had changed because he claimed she wasn't dressing up like someone who was willing to commit. Yesterday, they had rummaged through her wardrobe and taken out one of her dresses which she hadn't worn in years. She had not partied with them for a very long time so when they got to the club? She had let loose.

She could remember dancing with her girls and she had taken alcohol. She had stopped taking it for years and it had woken up her sleeping side. They'd urged her to have fun and that was what she had done. Maybe too much fun.

While they were dancing, she had excused herself. She was going to use the restroom. She felt like throwing up. As she was finding her way there, she could remember seeing a Greek god.

"Wait..." She exclaimed loudly. "Did I jump on him?!!" She shouted as she stood up from the too-comfortable bed. "Ivy... What the hell have you done!?" She asked herself. In her state of panic, she had failed to notice the man sleeping beside her. She didn't even know he had been watching all of her actions. With his keen almost brown cat-like eyes.

"Ivy!!!" She lamented as she used her hand to arrange her hair a little. She realized at that moment that she was wearing a white shirt. The very long hand had been rolled up so that it could fit a little. She saw her bag and phone on the bedside table and rushed to take them.

"Good! It's still early." She said when she saw the time was just a few minutes to seven. And it was a Saturday, meaning very few people would see her. She had to leave. Pulled the shirt down and it was up to her mid-thighs. That's long enough. She told herself and walked to the door. She opened it and walked out.

She wasn't even in a hotel. This looks like someone's house. At least he had the sense to take her to his house and not some hotel room. She was in too much of a hurry to notice that there was someone who was watching her as she left the house.

Chris had watched her leave. She looked too cute when confused and he didn't want her to notice him so, he had been quiet the whole time she was panicking. She had run to him last night and refused to let go. He had gone to sort out a business deal at The Queens Club. Usually, he would be there to just drink and maybe allow one or two strippers to take care of his urges. But yesterday had been different. He wasn't feeling like it.

The girl who was dancing in a very short red gown had caught his attention. He couldn't take his eyes off her. He had seen her the moment she walked in with two girls and a guy who had dyed his hair a bright pink color. They had gone to the bar, taken shot after shot till he could see that they were all getting drunk. They had pulled the red-dressed, blued-eyed girl onto the dance floor and the moment she started to roll that small waist of hers, his interest had been piqued. He followed her every movement with his eyes. He wanted her. Not to satisfy his urge but he wanted to bury himself deep within her. He wanted to feel that ass that she was shaking. He wanted to hold it and feel it was as soft as it looked from afar. She was a walking piece of temptation. He couldn't say or pinpoint why he was so interested in her. He had seen his fair share of women and he had never been so lost staring or wanting them. What could be so different about this girl be was looking at? One thing was certain tho__ he wanted her in his life. Not only for the sex of course but he wanted her in his life. Every single damm day. He was about to go to her when he saw her whispering something to her friend and walked away. He got up, went out of the private room, and followed her. From the direction she took, he knew she was going to the restroom so, he just decided to walk to her. He saw her walking from left to right and he felt the urge to just pick her up and walk out of the club.

It felt like the universe was on his side when their eyes locked and he saw her hop to him. He didn't say anything or try to stop her. He had to hold her to stop her from falling on her face. She smiled at him and said. "Let me take you home. What you say?" What was he supposed to say? Of course, he agreed.

He picked her up and walked out of the club through the VIP passage. He took her into his car and she refused to get off him. It took all his willpower not to ravish her in his car. He urged his driver to drive fast. Not to a hotel but his house. She asked to take him but, he took her home instead.

Days passed in careful silence.Mercury went about her life with practiced calm, tending to her company and to Axel, who remained blissfully unaware of the tension threading through the adults around him. Liam, for his part, stayed distant, observing from afar. His presence was no longer as immediate as at the dinner party, but it was just as oppressive in Mercury’s periphery. She could feel him watching.Liam did not act impulsively. He never did. Except on that night four years ago. The secret he had uncovered about Axel had stirred something within him, a mixture of cold calculation and unexpected paternal curiosity but he understood the need for timing. He had began to think about that night and how Mercury had insisted she was not there to seduce him.If he rushed, Mercury would retreat further, and the truth he sought would remain locked away. Finally, after several days, he made his move.Mercury had returned from a meeting with one of her clients, her hair slightly mussed, th

Mercury endured the rest of the evening with practiced grace. If Elena’s intention had been to rattle her, she failed spectacularly. Mercury moved through the grand hall as though she belonged there. Her chin stayed lifted, her steps measured, her expression calm. Every smile she offered was polite, controlled, and deliberate. She did not allow herself to glance back toward Elena’s last position, nor did she ask questions when she noticed the absence.Liam stayed close. Not in the way men did when they wanted to display possession or affection. There was no hand at her waist, no whispered reassurances, no unnecessary touches. Instead, he remained just behind her shoulder, a silent presence that never wavered.A shadow. When Mercury paused to speak with a venture capitalist who congratulated her on her composure, Liam stopped too. When she accepted a glass of champagne, he declined his own but remained alert, his gaze sweeping the room in steady intervals. He did not interfere. He did

After Elena left, the room felt colder. Not because the air had changed, but because something invisible had settled over Mercury’s shoulders. She stood exactly where she was, staring at the closed door long after the sound of Elena’s heels had faded down the corridor. Her heart was still racing.Slowly, Mercury inhaled, then exhaled, forcing the tension out of her chest. She refused to let a woman from the past dictate her present. Whatever Elena had come for, whatever trap she was planning, Mercury would not allow herself to shrink. She straightened her shoulders.Running was not an option. Hiding was not an option. And proving herself was no longer about survival alone. It was about dignity. She turned back toward the mirror. The designers, who had been waiting nervously, immediately resumed their work. None of them spoke. Their movements were precise, professional, and cautious, as though they sensed the fragile balance in the room.Fabric brushed against Mercury’s skin as dresses

Mercury turned toward the voice and, lo and behold, Liam was standing at the door.“When...?what...? I mean, what do you want? How long have you been standing there?” Cold sweat trickled down Mercury’s back.“Who is your son? I just heard you talking about a son,” Liam asked as he stalked toward her. His eyes locked onto hers, as though he could see straight into her soul.“You heard wrong!” Mercury replied, avoiding eye contact as the Ice King walked fully into her room.“Then what did I hear?” His voice was icily cold.“I was only talking to my brother’s son. He calls me mom,” Mercury said after calming herself a little.“If I find out you’re hiding something…” He smirked. “You won’t like the outcome.”Mercury shuddered. She knew he meant every word. Shaking her head to dispel her fear, she replied more calmly, “I’m very sure you had me investigated before this marriage. So don’t you trust the people working under you?”“I just hope you’re not hiding anything,” Liam said coolly. “Yo

Mercury spent almost every day alone. Whenever she went down for breakfast, Liam had already left for the office. And when he came back, she had already retired to bed. She went downstairs today with the thought in mind that it would be like every other day. She was dressed in a very short skirt and a crop top paired with sandals and her hair was packed up loosely leaving a few strands to fall on her face. "Good morning madam, you look very good today." The butler gushed at her as she came down the stairs."Oh! Thanks, Jerome. You don't look bad either." Mercury replied with a giggle. Within the span of a week, she had managed to get close to the few people who served in the house. The butler, the cook, and the cleaner. Every other maid lived outside the mansion. Only these three live in it."Thanks, ma'am. The table has been set and the master is waiting for you." Jerome led her to the dining room and said with a smile. "The master? Do you mean Liam?" Mercury looked at the butler

Mercury could feel the weight of Liam's eyes on her, even before the limo doors opened. The ride back from the ceremony was suffocating, the silence between them thick with unsaid words. She sat across from him, her hands clasped tightly in her lap, her mind spinning. She could still see the heated gaze Liam's mother had given her before they left the venue. She felt like a pawn in a game she never wanted to play. The diamond ring on her finger felt heavy, like a reminder of her own betrayal to herself. She had always dreamed of marrying a man she loved but, here she was. Liam hadn't said a word since the ceremony, his icy demeanor never wavering. Mercury tried to steal a glance at him, but his cold gray eyes were focused outside the window, staring blankly at the passing cityscape. She didn't even know why she expected him to be any different now. She had signed the contract, agreed to everything, and now she was bound to him."Mercury." His voice broke the silence, low and commandi
