Aurora’s P.O.V

I swallowed hard, trying to find the right words. “It’s hard to explain. It wasn’t just a shape—it felt... alive. Like it was calling me or warning me. I don’t know. It was a circle with a rectangle inside it," I said, my voice trembling as I gestured with my hands to outline the shape in the air.

"And there were vines crawling up the sides of the circle, like they were alive or something. It looked... familiar somehow, but I don’t know why. I don’t know what it means." I ran my fingers through my hair, the frustration bubbling up inside me.

But when I turned to the rest of them, I found them all looking at me wearily, as if they were worried about something. “What? What is it?”

Caleb leaned forward, his expression dark and serious. "Aurora, that’s not just any random symbol," he said, his voice low.

"It’s the same one that was found... on your dad’s chest." He paused, letting the weight of his words settle over me.

I stared at him, trying to process what he was saying.

Aurora’s P.O.VI turned to Caleb, my voice low but sharp as the thought suddenly cut through me. “Caleb, tell me something… did anyone know that tonight was the lunar eclipse?”He blinked, caught off guard. “The lunar eclipse?” he repeated, almost as if the words didn’t sit right in his mouth. He shook his head slowly, running a hand through his hair. “No. No, we didn’t… we were all so focused on the full moon tomorrow. Everything—every plan, every watch, every step we’ve taken has been around that. The eclipse… it slipped right past us.”I stared at him, my heart racing in my chest as the realization hit me like a blow. “Oh my God,” I whispered, backing a step away as my thoughts scrambled together. “We’ve been going about this all wrong. Completely wrong.”Caleb frowned, his brows knitting. “What do you mean wrong? Aurora, what are you talking about?”I pressed my hands into my temples, shaking my head. “Ashton and Maggie… They weren’t waiting for the full moon. We thought they were

Aurora’s P.O.VIt was empty. The furniture was still there, every last bit of it…but there was a kind of silence that only came from a place being devoid of any life.“Ashton?” My voice cracks, the sound too small, too desperate. “Maggie? Avery?” I push further in, scanning every corner like maybe they’re hiding, maybe this is some sick trick. But no—nothing. The house is eerily empty, no trace of them. Just silence.Caleb comes in behind me, his face pale. He looks around, his chest rising and falling hard.“Aurora… oh, no. No, no, no.” His hands run over his face like he’s trying to wake himself from a nightmare. “Does this mean—they took Riley?”I whip around to him, my head shaking violently. “No. No, that doesn’t make sense!” My hands clutch at my hair as if I can somehow squeeze the truth out of myself. “The full moon is tomorrow, Caleb. Tomorrow! Why would they be gone today? Why would they—” My voice breaks and I slam my fist against the wall. “This wasn’t supposed to happen y

Aurora’s P.O.VI froze when I walked into the room and saw the bed. Riley’s bed.It was untouched, the blanket perfectly smooth, the pillow exactly where it had been placed earlier. My heart jumped into my throat instantly.“No, no, no…” I whispered to myself, clutching the doorframe like it could somehow hold me together. “Caleb!” I called out, my voice shaking. He came running, his brows knitting as soon as he saw me standing there. “Aurora? What’s wrong?”“His bed,” I stammered, pointing with a trembling hand. “Riley’s bed is empty. He’s not here. It looks like… like he hasn’t even been in it at all.”Caleb stepped in, scanning the room quickly, opening the little closet, even peeking under the bed as if Riley could be hiding there. Then he turned back to me, his expression tightening. “Are you sure he’s not with a friend? Maybe a sleepover?”I shook my head rapidly, panic clawing at my chest. “That’s why I’m asking you. Did he go to your mom’s room? Or maybe you arranged something

Aurora’s P.O.VI glanced at Caleb as we stepped out into the cool night air, the silence of the pack house fading behind us. For a while, neither of us spoke, just the sound of our footsteps crunching against the gravel path. My chest felt tight, and I finally broke the quiet.“Caleb,” I said softly, glancing at him from the corner of my eye. “About the other night… I didn’t mean for things to get so heated. I wasn’t trying to argue with you.”He stopped walking and turned to face me. “You don’t have to explain, Aurora. I know you’ve been under a lot of pressure. I shouldn’t have pushed.”I shook my head quickly. “No, it wasn’t just that. I felt… cornered, like no matter what I said it was going to sound wrong. And with everything that’s been happening, I just—” I bit my lip, lowering my voice. “I kept thinking it was all my fault.”His brows furrowed. “Your fault? How could any of this be your fault?”“Because I’m the one who brought Ashton and the others here,” I said, my words tumb

Aurora’s P.O.VThe silence in the room was almost suffocating, but we all knew that tomorrow night was inevitable. Once the moon was full in the sky, we will have to enter the portal and face whatever was on the other side, and I could already tell what it was going to be about.A showdown with the wraiths, with Lucas and Harmona, and with Ashton and Maggie. It was inevitable. But I hoped that Jade’s conditions may have caused enough of a rift between Maggie and Ashton that we could still use it to our benefit.I turned to Caleb, my voice low but steady as I asked, “Do you think it’ll be possible to have wolves stationed at the portal? I mean… while we go inside to face Ashton and the wraiths. Just in case something unexpected happens.”Caleb nodded almost immediately, his expression calm, but I could tell he had already been thinking along the same lines. “I’ve already spoken to my father,” he said, meeting my eyes.“He’s agreed to keep our forces strong and ready, right at the entra

Aurora’s P.O.VI sat across from Alice, my hands twisted together in my lap as I tried to gather the right words. Caroline was right beside me, still fidgeting like she wasn’t sure if she had made the right choice in even mentioning what she had seen. Caleb, Damien, and Shane were all there too, quiet but watchful, their eyes darting between us and Alice, waiting for every word that would spill.“I don’t even know how to explain it without sounding insane,” I finally said, shaking my head. “Caroline said she saw… something. A ring of light, red, glowing, like a portal or whatever you’d call it. She kept insisting it was there. But I swear to you, Alice, I saw nothing. Absolutely nothing.”I swallowed, my throat suddenly dry. “But when she touched me, it appeared. For me. For just a moment. I saw it too, glowing and alive like some doorway. But that’s the thing…I can only see it when I have physical contact with Caroline.”The room went quiet for a moment, the kind of silence that pres
