Kerris POV

"I'm alright now, seriously," I tell him as he leads the way up the porch. "The doctor said I'm stressed and need to rest."

Zach turns to look at me briefly. "It's only your second day as my assistant. Am I overworking you already? Is that why you passed out?"

"No. I've been... It's been a rough... holiday for me."

We are the door now. He reaches for the handle and holds it open, motioning for me to enter.

I walk past him into a clean, simple but elegant living room.

"Welcome to my home," he murmurs from behind me.

"It's lovely."

The look, smell, and general feel of the place gives me the feeling of been sucked into a dream.

"I'll take your jacket," Zach says.

I set my purse on a nearby table and start to shrug out of my jacket when I catch him staring at me with hooded eyes.

Is he recalling our night together? My skin warms as the images play in my head.

I was wrong. He's staring at me with narrow eyes, not hooded eyes. The harsh stare is fixed
