Zach POV

The moon is waxing. So is my monthly curse. I can feel the beast's strength and intensity growing as it often does before he emerges on the full moon. Three days from now, I will go into my cage where Justin and Caleb will secure the lock to contain the evil inside me. It's the only way to keep my kingdom safe.

I need to take the edge off badly. As usual, I have gone racing and done all sorts of cardio before coming here. This is my last exercise before I turn in for the night. As I stare at the trembling girl sitting by the bed, I almost wish the Matron hadn't recommended her. A highborn fresh find. That's what she called her.

“What's the matter, Butterfly? Not expecting your king to choose you?” I ask, moving further into the room.

“N..no, your majesty,” she stutters, keeping her head down.

She shifts nervously on the bed, causing the pretty ribbon wrapped around her body to loosen slightly. My groin stiffens.

“The Matron said she has a special premium for me tonight. I see what she means. You seem special. I hear you're new to the job.”

“Yes, your majesty.” Her voice cracks.

That voice is oddly familiar. Ah, well. It doesn't bother me. She could be any of the girls I see around. The mask reveals nothing of her perfectly shaped face. At least, I can see her light brown eyes and nice lips. Very pretty. Full lips. It doesn't matter to me if I know her or not.

I better get on with why I'm here. Christmas or not, tomorrow is a work day for me. I have a pile of stately matters waiting for my attention.

I let my gaze move over her, appreciating all the lush, gentle curves and the velvety gold of her smooth skin. She does look like “fresh catch.”

Like all the other girls’ her jacket is a see-through made from satin net. Every scanty lace covering her feminine spots is on display. My body reacts to the sight, urging me forward.

She doesn't back away when I beside her on the bench this time. Though it seems like it's taking an effort not to. I can hear her heart thumping. Is it from excitement that her Alpha King is about to claim her? I hope so. The scent in the air is too thick, but I catch a trace of fear. I should reassure her somehow.

“I bite, butterfly,” I reach out and take the ribbon holding the net jacket in place. I start to pull it open, unwrapping my Christmas present as I add, "But I promise you'll like it.”

The net jacket falls open. Her cleavage is full and madly inviting. I take her hand, feeling it shake a little. Making her rise, I lead to the bed and have her stand before me. I want to first devour her with my eyes. She's good to look at but painfully shy and self-conscious.

A shy prõstitute. I can't help but smile at the irony. Maybe I should have left my mask on.

“I can't see you,” I remind her as my fingers trail down her body. I wish she would loosen up, but she remains stiff, and my dıck is harder than when I walked in. My patience is slipping away.

Life would be so much easier if I don't even have to come here. Justin says it's bad form to openly sleep with anyone who isn't Madison. The strain and fallout is not worth the trouble because of my position. “You do it with any girl and she expects forever from you.' Not to mention, she could get pregnant intentionally, and I would be forced to keep her. I can't make the same mistake my dad made. I'm a product of such a mistake and know how hard a pup's life can be if they came into the world by such a union.

"I know I'm your first customer," I whisper against her lips. "Don't be nervous. Think of me as your client, not your Alpha King.”

My words are working the magic. She starts to unclench as her body loosens in my arms. I feel her skin goes warm and her heart takes up a different beat, one I'm quite familiar with. She's getting aroused. Good.

“Pretend you were here yesterday,” I lull. “And it was so good that I'm back for more." Her lips part. Only a breath separates our mouth. She expects me to kiss her. Not a chance. Not on her lips.

For the first time since I walked in, I let myself look into her eyes. It's the same color as Tyrel's fruitcake girl. Her face flashes before me. I force that image out of my head to focus on the one in front of me. She's ready for my kiss. I bent and drop my lips on the small birth mark on her collarbone. She melts at the contact. Something thrash inside me, eager for me to claim her.

It's so intense that I can't tell if Ares, my wolf, or the demon.

A soft, gentle sound escapes her, and I realize that my fangs touched her flesh. I sit back to gain back control.

"Take off the jacket," I order.

I'm trying not to scare her. If I take it off myself, I'll rip it like an animal. That could make her stiffen from my touch once again. She obeys, her hands trembling a little. Damn, she's made for what I'm about to do to her!

I unzip my pants and start to take it off. “Kneel, butterfly.”

Those bewitching eyes widen as they move to the buttons on the wall. She backs away from me. I want to drag her and make her do what I want. But it's only enjoyable if she's willing. She looks at the wall again.

“That's right. I paid for everything. Come here. Get on your knees.” I sound desperate and impatient.

She hesitates, blinking very fast. Her eyes become teary. What the fück is so shocking about sücking a dıck?

Kerris POVBy the time we pull into the infirmary's courtyard, I almost feel like myself again. Then I see the crowd.Doctors. Nurses. Patients. Even people who clearly aren't sick have gathered outside the building."Oh no," I breathe.Frank glances at me through the rear-view mirror."Everything alright?""Who told them?""Told them what? That you're coming? "I may have mentioned that the Queen could be visiting one of the city's infirmaries today."I stare at him. "How could you do this to me.""I... I told one person, Your Grace... I mean, Kerris." He shrugs innocently. "Apparently, that was enough."Doctor Colton chuckles beside me. "News spreads quickly. Everyone's delighted about the Luna Queen."Frank points through the windshield."They would have figured it out anyway."That's right. The car is Zach's black Cadillac. And driven by his Gamma with his Deputy in front. I drop my forehead into my hand."The King's car is a bit hard to miss," Frank said."Remind me to use one

  • Claimed by the Alpha Beast   10: Acclimating the Queen

Kerris POV Marriage changes everything. Even my work. Being the Alpha King's mate means I can no longer live as ordinary as I used to. Apparently, I can't return to the Towers just yet. According to everyone around me, the Alpha King's new bride is supposed to spend her first few weeks settling into palace life before throwing herself back into work. Not that I'm complaining. Because Zach is staying close too. He insists it's because there's plenty of paperwork waiting for him inside the castle. Somehow, I doubt that's the real reason. Ever since our mating ceremony, he seems reluctant to let me out of his sight for long. I'm not exactly eager to leave either. Becoming Luna Queen has turned my entire world upside down. People bow when I walk past. Servants rush to open doors before I even reach them. Everyone calls me Your Grace. Every single time. I still haven't figured out how to answer without looking over my shoulder to see who they're talking to. Maybe it's

  • Claimed by the Alpha Beast   09: The King's message

Caden POVMarissa is missing. Presumed dead. That's everyone's conclusion. Even Ryder and Morgan believes it too.I don't.I've left them behind at the mansion. For what must be the hundredth time since she vanished, I'm back in the woods searching for something. Anything they might have missed.A footprint or broken branch. Maybe a scent. Any sign she came this way.Back in River Howl, Morgan is keeping an eye on her parents for me. They've been indoors grieving.Mom insists it's too dangerous for me to go that far into the pack right now. I don't intend to. Marissa isn't at her old house. There's no sign of her going that way. Just as there's no sign of her going anywhere else.Nothing. No tracks. Not a single clue.It doesn't make sense. She only got her wolf a few months ago. Two years later than the average werewolves. Tanya is small and delicate. Females like her don't wander far from home alone. They go with someone stronger. Someone who can protect them if trouble finds them.

  • Claimed by the Alpha Beast   08: The interruption

Zach POVI love watching her dress.Though not nearly as much as I love watching her undress.Truth be told, I just love staring at her, period.Even now, I still struggle to believe my luck. She's mine. We've been mated for only four days. Between the coronation, the investigations, and everything else demanding our attention, the closest thing to a honeymoon that we could have is locking ourselves away inside the castle for the last four days. And those four days end today.I'm seriously considering extending them. I'm not quite ready to share my Queen with the rest of the kingdom yet.Leaning back against the sofa in our bedchamber, I watch Kerris step into her dress. She wiggles her hips as she pulls the fabric into place, completely unaware of what that does to me.Or maybe she's fully aware."You know," she says, "most Queens don't dress themselves.""You're not most Queens." Not even close."Our honeymoon is over, Zach. The ladies-in-waiting should be here helping me.""Really

  • Claimed by the Alpha Beast   07: A less pretty cage

Marissa POVDamn my luck. “Not that way,” the warrior says, pulling me along."I'm not carrying anything.” I try to struggle. It's useless. Just like my next lie.“I-it's energy herbs." "Energy herbs that mask your scent? Never heard of that. You know any kind of masking herbs is illegal without authorization. Especially for your kind."My kind. He means an omega. Before I can lie some more, he cuts in,"Save it for when we get to the Warriors’ Precinct."You're under arrest, Miss… Scentless."✶⋆ ♡ ⋆✶I never paid attention to the Realm's news.Politics is boring and doesn't interest me in the slightest.Such things have nothing to do with an omega who spent her days pruning roses and arranging flower beds.We get to the precinct soon, and the warrior snatches my satchel, emptying the contents onto a wooden table. The nearly empty vial falls out. So do the leftover energy herbs I was reserving for when I reach the port."Do you have a permit for these?" he asks."My mother's a che

  • Claimed by the Alpha Beast   06: Off track

Present momentMarissa POVIt is full daylight and I don't stop running. Even though I know I'm far from the River Howl. The memories of the past two weeks keeps me strongly motivated to keep going. When I think of how Caden stayed away and let his father handle my family... how he left me waiting for him, for an explanation, for reassurance that I was his mate and not legal property... He would never come and he would never say the things I'd hoped so much to hear from him. That realization keeps me running.Until my legs start to shake and every breath starts to burn. Every root on the ground suddenly seems determined to trip me. Tanya starts to slow down, too weak to keep us moving. I've been running for hours, but it shouldn't be this difficult for a werewolf. The distance between the pack and the port is supposed to be no more than four hours. Maybe that number applies to a regular wolf. Not a small, frail omega.I used to think having a wolf makes me better than the average

Kerris POV I don't feel right. The strangeness began after I waved goodbye to Zach and his Beta. My stomach feels like it is tied in knots. Like I'm afraid. Even though the moment has passed and Zach didn't ask any question about my birthmark. He did not recognize me. That would be impossible.

Zach POV I should run towards the woods. The only problem is there's people all around. Someone could see me and get curious. A nosy human security, for instance. Kerris POV For a split second after Zach gives me the horrible news, I consider falling on my knees in front of him. To beg him to buy me for the night, anyway. It's at the tip of my tongue to say I'll do whatever he asks if he'll just keep me from going to the Den like he has done the past week.
