The heavy door of the strategy hall closed behind Cael with a sharp thud. His gaze was like ice over a surface of fire. All eyes turned to him—the soldiers, the counselors, the generals. But it was Jarek, his Beta and childhood friend, who broke the silence first.

"Alpha."

"Jarek." Cael's voice came out firm, controlled. "Full report. Now."

Jarek approached the dark wooden table in the center of the hall. A large map of the region was spread out, marked with silver stakes and notes in red ink. He extended a leather folder to Cael, who ignored it for the moment.

"At four this morning, one of the border patrols was attacked on the East Trail, near the border with Bloodclaw territory. Of the six team members, three are dead. Two are critically injured, and one is missing." Jarek paused. "They left a message. Nailed to a tree, in blood."

"What kind of message?"

"'The lamb is mine.' Signed with Lucian's symbol."

"I'm ready."Jared threw her to the ground five times in a row, each fall a lesson. But Aurora got up each time, wiping the blood from her lip with her sleeve, her pride intact."You're not made of glass, Aurora," he said after another sequence. "You're starting to make me think there's Alpha blood in there."She smiled, panting."I don't want to be an Alpha. I just never want to feel powerless again."Jared looked at her with genuine respect."That's nobler than just wanting power."From a distance, Cael descended the balcony steps and walked to the clearing."How is she?" he asked, without taking his eyes off her."Tough, stubborn, and hungry for justice. Like your Luna should be."Cael approached Aurora and gently held her chin, examining the small cut on her lip."Does it hurt?""A little," she replied, not breaking his gaze. "But I'm fine.""Are you sure you want to continue?""I want to fight, Cael. I want, if he ever shows up again, for me to be ready. For him to see I'm no lon

As soon as he entered the castle he happened to call a mansion, silence enveloped his senses like a caress. The air was warm, saturated with her scent. Lavender and forest. He climbed the stairs with long strides, his heart beating faster with each step. When he opened the bedroom door, he found Aurora standing by the window, dressed in a pale blue silk nightgown that fell to her thighs. She turned slowly, her eyes wide, the silver gleam in them reflecting his presence.“Cael…”He stopped in the doorway, his jaw tense. His heart tight.“I’m back,” he said, his voice hoarse and deep.Aurora ran to him without hesitation.Cael caught her in his arms, wrapping her with his body as if he wanted to protect her from the world itself. Her scent instantly calmed his wolf. He buried his face in her chestnut hair and inhaled deeply, as if that were the only air he needed.“Are you… hurt?” she asked, pulling away just enough to look at him, her hands sliding over his shoulders. He shook his head

Each step was silent, precise, guided by orders spoken in a near-inaudible whisper and the killer instinct of the warriors hand-picked by the Alpha."Tactical formation, claw pattern. Advance to the rock. Two scouts forward," Cael ordered in a low voice, using the communication channel of the implant in his ear."Copy," Jarek replied right behind him. His eyes were focused, pupils dilated, senses sharpened like a beast about to hunt. The outpost targeted that night was one of the Bloodclaw Pack's storage points, used to hold weapons, supplies, and, according to scouts, also captured wolves. The same structure where Aurora had possibly been held before her escape.Cael crouched behind a rock formation. Before them, just a few meters away, containers and metal structures rose amidst the woods. There were sentinels on high points, armed and alert. Human guard dogs and wolves alternated in vigilance shifts."Jarek, Plan B. The ground is too lit. The sniper takes the one in the tower. The

Cael pulled her closer, his fingers tracing hot lines down Aurora's spine. This time, there was no hurry, only the slow, burning devotion of two bodies that knew each other as well as their own souls.Their lips met in a kiss that was pure desire. Aurora sighed against his mouth, her hands exploring the muscular contours of his back, feeling every scar, every story etched into his skin. Cael nuzzled the line of her neck, inhaling her scent—wildflowers and something that was uniquely her—before placing a soft kiss on the mark he had left the previous night."My Luna," he murmured, his voice husky with emotion. When he finally filled her, it was with an intensity so sweet that Aurora's eyelids fluttered, a slight tremor running through her body. The entry was so slow, so deliberate, that every inch of his advance seemed to last an eternity, a sweet torture that made her nails dig gently into his shoulders. A trembling sigh escaped her slightly parted lips, almost a stifled sob, when he

When he entered the room, Aurora was standing before the window, wrapped only in one of the white sheets. She turned, a slight smile on her lips, but her gaze still held shadows."Finished your war council?" she asked, trying to sound light."We finished the first part." He approached, wrapping his arms around her waist. "How are you?""Better. Still scared… and I feel weak.""You were never weak."She looked into his eyes, her hand resting on his chest."And you were never just an Alpha. You are more. You are everything."He kissed her, firmly, and for a moment, everything fell silent. When they parted, Cael rested his forehead against hers."I promised you he would never touch you again. And I am keeping that promise.""What are you going to do?""Whatever is necessary. But first, I want you to trust me. And to know... the entire pack is with you. You are not alone anymore, Aurora. Not for a second."She nodded.Cael watched her in silence. Standing at the door, without armor, witho
