LOGINWhat did a ménage have to do with finding her a date for this nightmare wedding? Tally’s mind reeled.
“Would you be open to one?” Gerri asked, then quickly shook her head. “No, that’s not the right question.” Thank God she’d caught herself. Tally wasn’t ready for that conversation. “I mean, would you ever consider being with two men at once?” Gerri clarified. Tally’s jaw dropped, her words evaporating. She couldn’t even muster a polite way to say it was none of Gerri’s business. Asking her neighbor for help was clearly a mistake. “Gerri,” she said, setting her tea down and preparing to stand. “I don’t think ” Gerri’s sharp look silenced her. “If two men could give you the best sex of your life, would you say yes?” Well, when she framed it like that. “Um.” Tally bit her lip, heat creeping up her neck. “Together?” “Yes, together.” “Are they… doing stuff to each other, or just to me?” Gerri sighed, a touch exasperated. “No, darling. It’s all about you.” “Look, I’m not an expert on this stuff,” Tally said, irritation flaring at Gerri’s amused expression. She wasn’t some naive virgin, damn it. She’d had sex plenty of it, even if it was mostly lackluster. Amazing sex? That was another story. “I’m sorry, Tally,” Gerri said, softening. “I didn’t mean to make you feel defensive. Some ménages involve everyone together, but I need to know your preferences.” Tally exhaled, her nerves settling. “I wouldn’t say no to trying it. I’m not a prude, but I’m not exactly swinging from chandeliers either. Two hot guys giving me great sex? That’s a no-brainer.” Gerri chuckled. “Smart woman.” Tally leaned forward, trying to peek at Gerri’s notepad. “What does this have to do with my date?” “Nothing. Just curious.” Gerri shrugged, her eyes glinting mischievously. “I’ve got plenty of gorgeous men in my system. Any preferences? Do you go for polished businessmen with kind eyes and devilish smiles, or rugged bikers with tattoos and jeans that hug all the right places?” “God, if you could mash those two into one guy, I’d be in heaven,” Tally sighed, her mind flashing to the two men from the elevator. Their images biker intensity and polished charm sent heat surging through her. Gerri’s eyes widened, a spark of realization in them. “You’ve got someone in mind already!” “No!” Tally protested, her cheeks burning. “I just… remembered your guests from earlier. Those guys were… well, insanely hot.” A sly, almost predatory grin spread across Gerri’s face. “My nephew and his friend. Yes, they’re quite the catch.” Hot as sin with a side of trouble, Tally thought, but “handsome” worked too. “How’s your luck been with men?” Gerri asked, her tone casual but probing. Tally didn’t bother sugarcoating it. “Awful. I only attract jerks or the weirdest rejects from some bizarro dating pool.” “Really?” Gerri tilted her head. “But you’re such a stunning woman.” Tally gave a wry smile. “Come on, Gerri. I know I’m not hideous, but my hair’s a curly mess, I’ve got more curves than a racetrack, and apparently my attitude needs ‘sweetening,’ according to my last two dates.” She clenched her jaw, irritation flaring. “They also said I shouldn’t have such high standards because ‘looks aren’t everything.’ This is from a guy who used a fake profile photo.” “Oh?” Gerri’s voice held a note of intrigue. “Yeah,” Tally said, her anger resurfacing. “He used a picture of some hot British actor, claiming he looked just like him. Spoiler: he didn’t. The actor had hair; this guy was bald. The actor was fit; this guy was a slob with stained sweats. And his teeth? Yellow as corn.” “Wow,” Gerri said, grimacing. “That sounds dreadful.” “It gets worse.” Tally glanced at her plate, smudged with icing. “He took me for coffee and ‘forgot’ his wallet, so I had to pay.” “Oh, you poor thing,” Gerri said, her face a mix of sympathy and horror. “I’ve got a hundred more stories like that,” Tally said, her voice tight. “Dating’s a nightmare, and I’m done with it. But I need someone for this wedding someone jaw-droppingly hot, even if it’s just for one night. I want my family to shut up about my love life. Can you help?” Gerri nodded, her eyes gleaming. “Absolutely, I can.” “The hotter, the better,” Tally said. “I want them speechless.” Gerri’s laughter filled the room. “My dear, you’re my kind of client. I’ve got just the thing for you.” “Good.” Tally stood, heading for the door with Gerri beside her. “I need him for the bridal shower next week. I’ll be coming straight from work, so have him meet me at the restaurant. I trust your judgment, so whoever you pick, I’m fine with.” Gerri’s grin widened. “I’m glad. You’ll keep an open mind, right?” Tally snorted. Her mind was as open as it got hell, she was letting her elderly neighbor play matchmaker for a family wedding. If that wasn’t wild, what was? “Yes, I’ll keep an open mind,” she said, pausing at the door. “Just make sure he has hair, decent teeth, and clean clothes. I can handle pretty much anything else.” “Done,” Gerri promised. “Don’t worry. Your dream date is coming.” Tally laughed. “I’ll take a nice guy who doesn’t smell like a locker room.” “Trust me, you’re safe with me,” Gerri said. Tally nodded, waving as she headed to her apartment. “Good night, Gerri.” “Good night, Tally. Have faith it’ll all work out.” Easier said than done.“Played? Why would you deliberately agree to involve yourself in something that hurt our people? Hurt me? Lyssa is like my sister—and you—you’re as close to a father I’ve had since mine died.” She took a step closer to the man, but Jay held her arm.Kyle looked at the two men accused beside him. “We didn’t sign up for that. None of us knew that was Alastair’s plan. He promised that if we helped him, he would help our Leap regain its pride, its strength. We had no idea we were dealing with a delusional nutcase.”Disbelief flooded Becca’s chest, her throat tightening. “How could you not know? Or at least suspect? Alastair led the raid that killed Charlie and so many others.”Kyle raised one shackled hand. “He told us he was wrong, that he wished you well, wanted to make amends for what he did.”Becca was almost speechless. “And you believed him? Without checking with Jasper, or me, or anyone?” She shook her head. “Alastair sold you a pack of lies. He didn’t want the leopards to rise aga
“You two should be on your honeymoon, not seeing this unpleasantness. The joint council of elders can handle this, no problem,” Lucilla argued from her chair at the council table. She looked at Matheus, and he nodded in agreement. “Lucy has a point.”“I know the elders are more than capable of dealing with this situation, but the actions of these men nearly cost me my life—and worse, they nearly cost me Becca’s. Besides, this isn’t a job for the council on either side. The parties involved are from Pineland. Their fate is up to Becca as Prowl Leader,” Jaylon argued back.Becca looked out the cabin window while the three argued. Her intuition itched. There was something more to this than met the eye. A look, a glance… something insignificant, but it told her Jaylon hadn’t told her the whole truth.“Why else, Jay?” she turned her eyes on her new mate. “There’s something else behind our delay. I’ve felt it all along, and you need to tell me.”He leaned on the edge of one of the gallery t
Becca’s eyes fluttered open to soft, feathery kisses along her neck and collarbone. She inhaled, lifting her hand to Jaylon’s thick hair as his lips slipped to the fading pink scars on her shoulder and chest.“I hate I came so close to losing you. A few inches to the left and—”“Ssh, stop.” Becca tugged on his hair. “It didn’t happen, and I could say the same about Giselle’s blade and you. Something bigger protected us. I believe that. Besides, I think one of Alastair’s shots was meant for poor old Jasper. He and I are both lucky the bastard had an awful aim.”Jaylon rested his chin on Becca’s chest and looked up at her. “I know I haven’t said it before, but I love you, Becca. You’re in my blood and all, but it’s more than that. Deeper now.”She nodded. “I know. Me, too.”“You, too, what?” He grinned, a smirk tugging at her lips as he crawled higher so his mouth hovered just a breath from hers.“Well?”“I love you, too, wolf boy.”“Good, Miss Kitty.” He kissed her soundly, then moved
A knock sounded on the bridal suite, and Lucilla opened the door, stepping aside to let Lyssa and Terez carry Becca’s wedding gown into the room.Seeing her dress, Becca moved to sit up from the couch and winced. “What did I say about moving too quickly?”Lucilla scolded, “You’re barely healed.” Her eyes flashed to Jaylon stretched out on the bed. “Both of you.”“Lucilla, I’m fine.” Becca coughed, wincing again. The older woman frowned. “Nice try, little girl. You may be Prowl Leader, but as council representative in this room, I am ordering you to stay put. Matheus is on his way with the doctor.”She lifted a hand to wave off the argument on Jaylon’s parted lips. “Don’t waste your breath, Jaylon. Matheus wouldn’t take no for an answer. You of all people should know that. Besides, I agree with him, so you lay yourself back on that pillow and keep still.”Lyssa and Terez hung the dress on the edge of the closet doors, spreading the full skirt across two chairs.“I knew it. It’s ruined.
Jaylon’s jaw clenched, but he held it together. “No, Alastair. Your half-baked plan failed. Like all the others. You’re nothing but a coward. Instead of coming at me, you chose to attack a woman. Becca already ruined your face and you know she could’ve shredded the rest of you in a heartbeat, but you’re too cowardly to face anyone head-on. You have others do your dirty work. Hired thugs or women you use and manipulate.”In that moment, the pieces fell together and Jaylon whirled his head around, his stare falling on Giselle standing with the rest of the crowd.“It was you, wasn’t it? You’re the one who tipped this asshole about me and Becca. You’re the one who arranged for him to escape.”Giselle shook her head, but her eyes were full of fear and guilt, especially with his cold stare on her.“Jay, please. I… I…”He lifted a hand. “Save your breath, Giselle. I’m not interested in anything you have to say.” He motioned to one of the men. “Take her. Hold her until I get around to thinkin
Becca stuck her tongue out and then blew a tendril from her forehead. “I’m going to die of heat exhaustion if we don’t get out into the fresh air soon. What time is it?”Looking at the clock, Lyssa jumped from the edge of the bed. “Holy crap. I gotta put on my dress and finish my face.” She whirled on her heel. “Terez, can you do Becca’s veil?”The small woman nodded. “Of course, go… go.”“Lyssa, what the hell kind of hairspray did you use on my hair?” Becca reached to scratch behind her ear. “It itches.”“I just need five minutes in the mirror—” Lyssa stopped, finger pointed. “Becca Louise Duran! I worked too hard to get a natural look that can resist the gale force winds off this damn beach, so you will sit on your hands if you get the urge to touch. At least until after pictures.”Terez laughed at the young woman as she carefully fitted the veil amid the sophisticated curls framing Becca’s face and neck, letting the sheer fabric fall in floaty layers to the bride’s shoulders. The s
TALEN wanted to kill the man with his hands on CASSIE. He didn’t. That in itself was hard enough. He didn’t give him a swift death because GERRI warned him she wouldn’t help him if he did.“MASSIMO,” GERRI said, the other guy’s name after he’d introduced himself while lifting an unconscious CASSIE
CASSIE let the water drip down her back. She caressed her belly roll and grinned. A baby. She’d been wanting children for a while now. Especially since she got to hold little AVERY.It was like her life was finally going where it needed to be. Even if she hadn’t been expecting it. Not really. She’d
TALEN waited in ALYX’s office, pacing the confines of the great library. He didn’t know what to do. She’d left. Gone. Sure, it had taken him longer than expected to return after the fight in his offices, but he’d expected to return and find CASSIE at the castle visiting with BELLA and the babies, n
Cassie held baby Avery in her arms and didn’t want to let her go. Ever. She wondered if she could take her back to Earth without getting arrested. Probably not a good idea. The trip to Aurora had been magical. Okay, so at first she’d gotten a bit motion sick when she went through the wormhole thing
