[Leo's POV]

I pull my jacket on and fix my tie before heading into the studio in front of Ms.

"Hello, Mr. Rogers.”

“Welcome.”

“We've been waiting.”

“Shall I show you the way?”

The greetings trickle together from the ass kissers who are vying to get on my good side. This was normal when you had money and when you had power, but it meant your circle stayed small.

Maybe this was part of the reason I kept my identity hidden from my songbird. I wanted to test her to see if she would end up wanting me while knowing nothing about me, and from her suggestive texts that always made me want to break my own fucking rule, I knew she did.

From that damned photo she sent earlier alone, I knew that she craved me the way I craved her. Well, maybe not quite the same. I wanted to bend her in every way possible and fuck her until she screamed at the top of her lungs, filling the room with her beautiful voice. I wanted to tie her up and have my way with her until her body yearned for my touch. But most of all I wanted to possess her in every way possible.

She was still so fucking innocent, and I wanted to ruin her.

“Mr. Rogers, the audition is about to start.”

Nodding, I shove my hands in my pockets and start to move, making my way to a private booth that allowed me to watch my songbird sing her heart out while not being seen.

When I arrive, I stand in front of the double-sided mirror and take her in as she takes her place.

She wears a long, flowing blue dress that makes her even bluer eyes sparkle. Her cheeks are flushed with excitement and nerves, but they're half hidden under her long, flowing blonde hair. She is a vision, and I had to fight the urge to break through the fucking mirror and beat the shit out of the bastards that stood around, ogling her like a fucking piece of meat.

“You can begin when you are ready,” the one in charge of her audition announces.

Nodding, she takes a deep breath, and when her plump pink lips open, her voice rings out. It's the most beautiful thing I've ever heard and sends chills throughout my body, and I again can't help but wonder how fucking good it will sound when she screams my name.

Leaning forward, I place a hand on the glass that separates us and let the world around me vanish as my songbird does what she does best.

When she finishes, she gives a brilliant smile while her breasts rise and fall from her putting her heart into her beautiful singing.

“Thank you,” the auditioner says, not bothering to lift his gaze to her. “We will call you when we've made a decision.”

“Thank you,” my songbird says before turning and making her way out.

For a moment, I don't move as I glare at the woman who clearly doesn't seem impressed with my songbirds audition while debating whether or not I should have a word with her. However, I decide against it, as I know anyone with a bit of sense would choose her. And instead of wasting anymore time hiding, I head out of the building, where I find my songbird and another woman, whom I can only assume is a friend, talking animatedly.

“We must celebrate!” The woman announces. “I just know you beasted this audition.”

“I don't know, Anastasia,” my songbird murmurs. “You know as well as I do that there are many talented singers trying out today.”

“Fuck those singers,” Anastasia huffs. “Only my Brielle is good enough for that gig.”

As she speaks, a delicious giggle escapes my songbird before a brilliant smile spreads across her face.

“Now come on!” Anastasia continues. “Just a few drinks. What do you say?”

“Sure.” My songbird sighs. “Lead the way.”

“Great!” Anastasia giggles, linking arms with her and beginning to move. “I know just the place.”

Remaining silent, I watch as the two grow farther and farther away before I begin to move. If my songbird thought she could go to any bar or club without me, she was wrong. There was no fucking way I would allow any other bastard to try to take advantage of her while she was drunk. If they even tried to touch what was mine, I would fucking break each and every one of their fingers and then their hands.

Moving slowly, I remain close enough to see where the two are going but far enough to not come across as suspicious, and when we reach the club in question, I take a seat in a booth that is shrouded by shadows but allows me to watch my songbird as she sits at the bar downing red stag and coke, her signature favorite. While she drinks, she chats happily with her friend until two men carrying beers come up to attempt to join them.

Instantly, I make my move, getting up from my place and heading to the bar so that I can take the seat beside my songbird before one of the bastards does.

“Hey,” he growls, narrowing his gaze on me. “I was about to..."

“Beat it,” I snap as my songbird turns her gaze to me. “This seat is taken; fuck off.”

“Who the fuck are you to tell me to fuck off?” The guy growls, lifting a bottle. “I’ll show you who you’re…”

He doesn’t get to finish his words before I’m standing and grabbing his head. Using little to no effort, I push, slamming his fucking head against the counter.

“What was that?” I hiss, leaning close to his ear. “Do you want to try that again?”

“Hey!” The bastard's friend growls, jumping up from his seat. “What do you think you’re doing?”

“Teaching your friend to behave.” I respond, releasing the fucker who tried to sit beside my songbird. “Do I need to do the same for you?”

When I came here, I most certainly didn’t expect to get into a fight, but if they wanted to try to hit on my songbird, I was more than willing to fuck them both up.

“Hey!” The bartender snaps as the fucker's friend comes for me. “Get the hell out of here before I call the police!”

“You heard him,” I chuckle, taking my seat again. “Get out.”

“You too,” the bartender counters. “You’re being a menace as well.”

Whoops, it looked like I pushed a little too far. Standing, I motion for the two to come with me. Even better, I could do what I really wanted without worrying about coming across as a monster to my little songbird, who never took her eyes off me the whole time.

“Have a good evening, beautiful,” I say, giving a wink before grabbing the backs of the two guys necks. “Until we meet again.”

With that, I begin to move, dragging them along with me while imagining all the shit I was going to do to them. For ruining my time with my songbird, I would make sure they suffered greatly.

  • Claiming Brielle   A Tainted Love

[Thad’s POV]I don’t speak as Trudy buries her face in my chest, breathing me in while she does a damn good job of pretending that she was actually happy to see me. However, I know better than to fall for her tricks this time. And because of that, I reach down, grabbing her arms and pulling them off of me, then stepping back and wrapping an arm around Brielle. As I do so, Trudy’s gaze drifts to my arm and then back up to my face while a look of questioning crosses it.“Oh,” she gasps, putting on a fake look of shock. “I’m sorry!”“Sure you are.” I say, causing Brielle to give me a look of questioning. “I’m certain that you knew exactly what you were doing.”“Thad,” Brielle says softly, clearly confused about what is happening. “Should I…”“No,” I say much too strongly while tightening my hold on her. “No,” I repeat, trying to calm down. “There’s no reason for you to do that. Let’s go.”“But…” She continues as I start to pull her. “What about…”“Don’t worry about her.”As I speak, Brie

  • Claiming Brielle   A Seaside Stroll

[Thad’s POV]For the next few days, Brielle stays locked in her room, and although I want to barge in there and drag her out, Darlene doesn’t allow me. From the way she and Steven glare at me, you would think I was some villain trying to get to a beauty. It was frustrating, especially when I knew that Brielle was suffering, but deep down I knew that my sister and her boyfriend’s intentions were pure. However, by the third day of Brielle’s self-isolation, I can’t take it anymore. That’s why I creep around the house that we share, making my way to the window that will allow me into Brielle’s bedroom. When I reach, I chance a peek inside to find Brielle sitting in bed with her knees pulled against her body. In the moment, she looks so tiny, and I can’t help but want to pull her against me.“That bastard.” I growl, lifting a hand and gently rapping on the glass in front of me while hoping that I don’t startle Brielle too much. “If only you could see the state you’ve left her.”Growing qui

  • Claiming Brielle   Her Selfish Wish

[Brielle’s POV]I stare at Thad, my emotions racing as he considers what it is that I’ve just asked of him. Even from my point of view, I can tell that he thinks I’m being a bit too rash, and honestly, deep down in my rational mind and heart, I knew I was, but I was so desperate to forget even for a little bit the pain and sorrow that I was feeling.“Please,” I repeat, reaching out and trying to touch his cheek only to be stopped by his hand. “You won’t?” I ask as he leads my hand back to the bed. “Are you rejecting me?”“I am,” he confirms, though it is clear that he doesn’t want to.“Is it because I’m dirty?” I ask quietly, pain shooting through me. “Is it because I’m tainted by L and now carrying his baby?”God, what the hell was I saying? Was I really trying to guilt Thad into feeling sorry for me and helping me ignore all the emotions I so desperately wanted to escape? Didn’t that make me no better than the bastard that had broken me so completely?“You think that I’m a whore tha

  • Claiming Brielle   Kiss Me

[Thad’s POV]I stare at Darlene as she takes me in with a look that screams she doesn’t quite believe me. It’s annoying as hell, and part of me just wants to tell her to fuck off, but I don’t bother doing it; instead, I turn and knock on the door and then wait as I hear someone moving around inside, and when it opens and Brielle’s puffy gaze meets mine, I’m moving.“Delivery,” I announce, ignoring the gaze that is burning into my back. “I’m sure that you’re probably starving, so I’ve brought you some food out of the kindness of my heart.”As I speak, I can hear Darlene’s laughter from the hall beyond, but I don’t turn around. I simply place the tray I’m holding on the bedside table, then straighten myself out.“Come on,” I say, peeking over my shoulder at Brielle. “Shut that door and come eat.”“Oh, okay.” She says quietly while doing exactly what it is that I’ve said. “Sorry, I’m just a...”“What have I told you about apologizing all the time?” I ask, narrowing my gaze on her. “Stop

  • Claiming Brielle   Pregnant

[Brielle’s POV]I sit on the edge of the toilet, my head in hands, as the soft tick, tick, tick, of a timer fills the area around me. How long have I been waiting now with my heart in my throat? Was it minutes? Maybe hours? It felt like eternity, but when the alarm that I’ve been waiting for goes off, I know that only five minutes have passed.Swallowing, I sit up and take a few deep breaths before grabbing the test beside me and then taking in the two pink lines that sit on it while my ears begin to ring and my head spins.“No,” I whisper, unable to believe that this was happening. “How can…”Don’t be stupid. The small voice in the back of my head snaps. You know good and well how it happened, and now that it has progressed to this, you need to figure out what to do.Figure out what to do. Of course, there was only one option. I was going to keep it since it wasn’t the fetus’ fault that its parents were in such a fucked-up relationship. But to find myself pregnant at this point in ti

  • Claiming Brielle   New Life

[Brielle’s POV]I walk down a busy street that is surrounded by stands filled with all types of things. There is the woman who runs a bakery just down the street selling her latest creations. A fisherman offering the freshest of catches. A woman and her small child are selling stained glass ornaments for your home. And even a butcher selling sizzling fresh meat. It’s a peaceful sight that blends in with the buildings sitting on either side of the street and the sparkling ocean just in the distance. This is the place that I’m slowly getting used to, the people that I’m slowly becoming acquainted with, and the life that I’m now leading after running away from the one I had in the past. And although I know that I should be at ease, that I shouldn’t hold the slightest bit of fear over being found since I changed my name and our tracks were hidden perfectly, there are still moments that I feel like the one I ran from is here watching me, following me, and just waiting to attack and drag me
