__I don't want to stay

Mia threw up for the umpteenth time. She felt sick and weak.

"Mia, are you okay?",  Grandma Quinn asked her.

" I feel strange, grandma", she said.

"Do you use contraceptives after that night?",  her grandma asked.

Mia blinked.

" Contraceptive?", she asked.

Mia grandmother sigh.

She hoped it's not what she is thinking. "Let's go to the hospital",  her grandma said.

" Grandma, is something wrong with me?", She asked.

"We wouldn't know", her grandma said.

Mia was restless. She can't believe she got pregnant for a stranger. How is she suppose to face her child in the future when she don't even know its father.

She also have to face criticism from her parents.

" This is too much. What kind of embarrassment have you brought this family. I think Mia has to abort the child. She can have as many children in the future.

Mia wrapped her arms around her tommy.

"I refuse",  she said.

Her father and mother turned to look at her.

" What did you say? Who said you can decide? You daughter of a slut!", Mrs Quinn said.

"I've told you to stop that",  Grandma Quinn said.

" Don't call Mia names. Can you not behave like a vulgar woman?”

"I'm just going to leave the city. Send me away please. I don't want to abort this child",  Mia said.

Mrs Quinn was happy. This is what she wants. She wants Mia out of her sight.

" Mia!", Grandma Quinn called.

"Granny, I'm sorry. But I need to leave if I want everything to be alright", she said.

" mom, why should Mia leave?", Yanis asked.

He really did not understand his mom. Maybe if Mia is a boy, he would have understood, but Mia is just a harmless girl. 

"If you will not abort the child, I will have to send you abroad",  Mr Quinn said.

" Oh.. Okay", Mia said and walked away.

"Do you really have to send her away?",  Grandma Quinn asked.

" Mom, why do I feel like you're not respecting me. Mia is a daughter of your son's mistress. He cheated on me. I should sue him to cult but I didn't because my son is young. It is not the case anymore. My son is grown up now. If I leave your son, that's the end", Mrs Quinn said and walked away.

Grandma Quinn shook her head.

Yanis knocked.

Mia opened the door.

"What?",  she asked him.

" Mia, I'm sorry", he told her.

She raise her brows.

"I will try and talk to my mum. She might allow you to stay in B-city here",  he told her.

" Thanks but I don't want to stay", She told him.

"But Mia, can you afford to live in a strange land? All alone?",  he asked her.

" I will... Cope", she said.

And she shut the door.

Yanis sigh.

That's how Mia is. As much as he had tried to be closer to her, she is always shutting him out.

Mia smiled when she saw Scarlett Quantrell.

That's her only friend. They didn't go to the same high school bit they've known each other for a long time.

"Lett",  She called.

Scarlett sat down before her.

" You missed me? I only travelled for a while. I can understand though. Who won't miss a pretty face like mine", Scarlett said.

Mia scoffed.

"I'm going abroad",  she said.

Scarlett widen her eyes.

"Why?",  she asked.

" I had a one night stand with a stranger. I found out I was pregnant and Dad is sending me abroad", She said.

Scarlett thought she heard wrong.

"Mia, you had a night stand?",  she asked.

" Yes. When I went to class reunion",she replied.

"How did it happen?", Scarlett asked.

" I entered the wrong room", Mia replied.

Scarlett took a deep breathe.

"What about the man?",  she asked.

" I don't know. He left before I wake up".

"Why didn't you take pills to prevent pregnancy?",  Scarlett asked.

" I don't know"

It's probably only scarlett that can deal with Mia. She had a very high IQ but had  a low EQ.

"So why is your dad sending you abroad?", Scarlett asked.

"I didn't want to abort my child"Mia replied

"You mean your dad said he will send you abroad if you won't abort your child?", Scarlett said.

Mia nodded.

" Mia, what do you want to do now? ", she asked.

" I will go abroad. I will miss grandma and Scarlett and... Yanis", she said.

"I will miss you too, Mia. You have to always be in contact with me. I won't change my number. I will be waiting for you. I will also visit you sometimes. You must stay healthy Mia_especally during pregnancy.",  Scarlett told her.

" Okay"

"Mia, can't you just leave home and stay with me till you give birth? You will be very lonely in a strange land".

" I don't want yo stay in B- city", Mia said.

Scarlett knew she could not convince Mia.

"Mia, take care of yourself then. I will see you to the airport.",  She told her.

Mia only smiled.
