As Lucas caught sight of Janet, a rush of emotions flooded his being. It had been far too long since they last saw each other, and the longing in his heart was palpable. He approached her cautiously, his voice laced with a mixture of hope and uncertainty.

"Janet," he began, his voice barely above a whisper. "I've missed you. You're constantly on my mind, and I can't seem to escape this feeling."

Janet's gaze met his, her eyes reflecting a myriad of emotions. Her guard was up, and the weight of the secrets he had kept weighed heavily upon her. She spoke, her voice tinged with a hint of skepticism.

"Lucas, I don't know if I can trust you. You kept so many things from me, being Emily's brother and, well, sleeping with me while she was working on a case with Chloe. It's difficult to ignore that betrayal."

His heart sank as he realized the depth of the hurt he had caused. Lucas desperately searched for the right words, his voice filled with remorse.

"I've apologized countless times, Janet.
