"We need to move right now," Belle said, taking a step towards him. "Alexander isn't waiting." He knows what we're doing at all times.

Alistair looked at her with icy, determined eyes. "He'll expect us to freak out and make blunders. That's how he does things.

Belle's voice was full of anger as she tightened her hands. "But we can't just sit here. Theodore—

"I know," he said, cutting her short. His voice was stern but soft as he clasped her hand. "But going into this without thinking will get him killed."

For a moment, her eyes softened, but then they hardened again. "I can't lose him, Alistair." I can't.

He held her hand tightly and spoke softly. "You won't." We'll look for him. "Together."

The seconds dragged on, full of anxiety, until Alistair's phone rang. He looked at the screen for a second before putting it to his ear.

"Alistair?" Belle muttered, and her breath seized in her throat. "Who is it?"
